Happy DECEMBURRRRRR!
And quite chilly this morning too.
Well, November ended with a BANG! And December started with a BANG!
Let me explain…
Yesterday, I was on Craigslist looking for a Christmas gift for Eric. And guess what I came across? A beautiful couch- for a crazy good price. I immediately emailed the seller and asked if we could take a look at it. I figured that it would be gone already because good deals sell so fast on Craigslist, especially in Toronto!
It was a dark brown sectional couch with a chaise (always wanted one!) and it was only a few months old and in mint condition. The owner was selling it because they were moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo (it is a BIG couch!).
Eric stopped by on his way home from work and…
We bought our very first couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every couch we have had up to this point has been a hand me down which is absolutely awesome, but we have secretly been longing for a couch that fit our new family room. After looking at prices earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t afford one.
He was shocked that it wasn’t gone already. He had to drive all the way to his brother’s to pick up a van, then drive back and put 1 part of the couch in the van, then drop it off, and then drive all the way back to Toronto to pick up the rest!!! He didn’t get home until about 11:30 last night. Poor guy!!!! I was at home waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Luckily, S & B kept me company. ;)
We are absolutely in love with it:
It’s incredibly soft and comfy…
and will be great for entertaining!
…it is like brand new to us and our wallets are very happy. We figured that THREE lucky friends can crash on this couch at once! hahaha. ;) We are still university students at heart…
We will probably end up buying most of our furniture on Craigslist. You really can’t go wrong, 1) You save huge, and 2) You are recycling!! They have lots of cool antique pieces on Craigslist. Yes, there is a lot of crap to sift through, but it is so worth it. I also check out the FREE page a lot too! You’d be surprised how many people give away amazing things because they are in a rush.
The only thing we are not sure of is where to put our other brown couch. Right now it is here:
and it looks kind of odd…but we were thinking of keeping it around for our Christmas party.
We also tried here:
and it looked even more odd…
So we aren’t really sure what to do with it! Ideas????
I also want to find a coffee table off Craigslist as I don’t really like the one that is there now.
And why did Decemburrr start with a bang?
We have roofers here this morning and it sounds like an EARTHQUAKE in this house today! I swear they are going to fall through the roof on me. I woke up at 6am to BANG, BANG, BANG!!! I hit my alarm but it didn’t stop!

Ok, now that this home reno stuff is out of my system, I promise to get back to my health posts and hot topics!!!!

Recycle it on craigslist of course after the holiday party! I think the yoga mat would be lovely in violet!
These mats sound AMAZING!!! I would LOVE the Seamist color… so tranquil and pretty. :)
Wow, that couch in definitely an issue. I’d wait until the Christmas tree is out and try to find a spot. Otherwise, maybe you could put it in a bedroom or study?
xxoo

Hey Angela!
You should definitely try to sell the couch! You could use the money to go Christmas shopping, or Angela shopping!
As for the yoga mat, I’d go with Infinity! Can’t go wrong with the “potential for endless possibilities!”
I love your new couch! If you can’t find use or space for the old one, you should try to sell it or give it away. I love the Seasmist green yoga mat!
Do you have another room you could put it in? If not, I would pay it forward by putting it on Craigslist…or put it on the front porch like a redneck ;o)
Oh, and I would choose the orange yoga mat, just because it’s such a “yoga” color.
I’m Krista that introduced my friend (with the same name) to your website! :) I agree with her on the placement of the old couch, either that or put it in a different room for now and then sell it on craigslist (I wish I lived in toronto because i need a couch and I would buy it, but alas I do not). And I would get the seamist mat because the is my favorite color of green! :)
I would love a yoga mat!! I’m trying to start practicing, but the hardwood floors hurt!!
Donate the couch to a deserving family/shelter. I would be so excited to have my own yoga mat. Somehow I never got around to buying one even though I practice regularly.
I would sell the couch after the holidays. i would love a new yoga mat I have had mine for over 5 years and it has def seen better days.
Well, considering it is officially the holiday season (December 1st), you could always give the couch away to Goodwill or the Salvation Army :) If you can’t find any other way to make use of it, you might as well share the love!
As far as the yoga mat, seamist definitely caught my eye. Gotta love that soothing green!
I’d donate the couch and I think I would pick the green mat!
Hi Ange,
Love the new couch- it is gorgeous and looks so comfy! It looks like it provides tons of seating, so if I were you I would give your old couch to a family member that needs it or just sell it on Craigslist.
The yoga mats look awesome! All of the colors are pretty, but I would ultimately pick Ocean… the description sold me! I look to yoga to relax yet maintain attention in all of the poses. Great giveaway!
Why not list it on craigslist?! The proceeds could go towards a new coffeetable :) LOVE the new couch..very chic! I would choose the ocean mat…I am a blue girl all the way!
I would put the old couch in an office or den where you can go to escape and cuddle up with a blanket and a book.
I would choose violet because it reminds me of spring and it’s so cold in Ohio right now!!
I was thinking that you could keep the couch until after the holidays and then list it on Craigslist. I thought my suggestion was original until I saw a few of the other comments. Oh well, guess that’s what I get for being late to the party.
In terms of the yoga mat, I’d pick the solar color.
I would put the sofas back to back for now, and then maybe put it on Craig’s list in another month or so! Your new furniture is beautiful! I would choose Ocean for a yoga mat! They’re so pretty!
okay… I really weally weally want that yoga mat *prays hard* I love the Seamist color as sage green is my favorite color and I need a yoga mat too! As for the couch, hold onto it until the party (good idea) and then you could even use it on a porch or spare bedroom. I must say putting it on Craig’s list is pretty smart too : )
New couch looks awesome! I would put the old one in your office, if it fits. My husband has a couch in his office and it’s the perfect place for him to sit when he gets tired of the office chair. I also like to lounge on it while he works. :)
I’m in desperate need of a new yoga mat and would pick either violet or seamist – tough call!
Definitely sell the couch, and use that money towards a new coffee table. I would pick seamist for the mat color!
Do you have a basement? If not, room in a guest room? You could always pass the love and sell it on craigslist as well!!
Also I’d love an ocean mat!
