Check out this picture I found on the website last night! At the finish line…I actually sprinted and caught up to these three people.
Note:
I wasn’t anywhere near this pack!
HARD CORE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, that wasn’t all the food I had yesterday!
There was more…
I ended up eating the rest of this Optimum bar!
It was just kinda sitting there….so…
In my belly it went! Nothing was safe near me yesterday!
I didn’t care for it much. Actually, I scraped off the icing and ate it plain. It was better without it. :) I gobbled that up and was still hungry before bed, so I had a few handfuls of cereal. I couldn’t believe it but when I went to bed I was still hunrgy! But, then I passed out from exhaustion. Eric was like, ‘I’m super hungry too’…lol…like I said, the spectator sport is HARD work! He slept for 4 hours yesterday afternoon! bahaha.
I can’t believe it, but I’m barely, barely sore at all today! This is absolutely mind-blowing to me because I am typically always sore after long runs, and I was very sore after my 10k race last month. I think my pre-and post race nutrition plus immediate and continued stretching throughout the day yesterday REALLY helped! I think I stretched about 5 times yesterday and then a long one in bed before I hit the hay. :) Stretching rocks!!!
This morning, I wanted to celebrate my race with a fun new Green Monster, I’d like to call
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Green Monster
Ingredients:
- 1/2 serving PC extra-firm organic tofu
- 3 cups steamed spinach (I made a big batch yesterday and put it in a glass pyrex dish)
- 1 T PC Just Peanuts Peanut Butter
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 T carob powder
- 1/2 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate infusion powder
- 1 cup PC low-fat soy milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cubes ice
- 1/2 T coconut oil
- 1 T chia seeds
- 1 small banana
Wow was this GM ever amazing!!! I felt like I was sipping on the smoothest, most luxurious drink ever. It was creamy, creamy, creamy! It actually made more than in the glass below and I quickly chugged it back straight out of the blender. ;)
I’ve got a crazy busy day of orders today (about 6!) so I need to get cracking in the kitchen.
Thank you to everyone for your congrats on my race!!! You all rock!
Have a great day!
I learned that calorie counting isn’t necessary! Well, I already knew that, but somehow got into it once. It just causes stress in my life, and who needs that?
I’ve learned to listen to my body more to tell me when I am hungry & when I am full.
ive learned that too much soy has scary health consequences for both men and women!! I’ve switched to almond milk!
I’ve learned that no matter how much I work out (a lot) and how well I eat (unprocessed foods, lots of vegetables, good fats, etc.) I have to accept that my body is not going to be thin like it was when I had an eating disorder. And endless self-obsession with my image and what I look like in pictures, etc. is a waste of my life and I need to learn how to detach from it or else I will always be miserable. I have to just be happy that I am doing what is so healthy for my body and longevity and wellness, and this is health, even if it is not the image of scary skinniness that our culture somehow thinks is worth worshipping.
I’ve learned that core strength helps road biking a lot, and that eating lots of green and other veggies decreases my cravings for sweets because I am much more full and satisfied.

I like Alexis’ comment above.
I learned that I burn more calories than I thought I was and I NEED TO EAT. It’s okay to eat! And I also learned to burn every. single. stinkin’. magazine that tells women to eat between 1200-1500 calories. To the devil with them!
I’ve learned to boost my breakfast intake a little more for a much better day and much more energy! It’s amazing what a hearty breakfast can do for your overall feel for the day!
After 6 injections and lots of drugs I have living in serious pain for about a year.
I learned to try and trust new things and gave the chiropractor a try…should have known that a compleatly natural way would give me more relief than steriods and narcotics.
I’ve learned that staying up after the kids go to sleep for a little “quality” time for myself usually deprives me of much needed sleep and makes me start the day tired and run down. I’ve been trying to kick that habit and making myself sleep as close to 8 hours a night as possible and between that and these crazy GM (my kid’s call them “Shrek” juice) I have much more energy than before.
Thanks for being so inspirational and informative.
Recently I’ve learned more about fueling for a work out and eating for recovery after.
I have learned to use my hunger cues rather than eating for the sake of eating. Oh! And learning and train for a marathon and see how far my body can go.
I learned about coconut oil from YOU and have since bought it but have yet to use it (I won’t lie) but plan to use it very soon! Thanks for the tip! Also, I still need to get over my fear of green monsters…but I have never been a fruit or veggie girl, so I think a smoothy is a perfect way to get in a serving of fruits and veggies in the future! Okay, my goal is to make one this week!! Woo hoo!
I learned, from this blog, how healthy chia seeds are and that they are even more nutritious than flax seeds!
I read somewhere recently to be sucessful in losing weight in a healthy and permanent way that you should never do anything that you can’t fully commit to for the rest of your life. This really put things into perspective for me and made me realize why so many “diets” never work for the long haul.
Keep up the great work here you inspire and energize me!
I’ve recently learned that yoga is just the best thing I can do for myself: body, mind, and soul. I’m doing yoga almost every morning and have been learning more and more about it from yogaisyummy.net and yogadownload.com.
Great contest, by the way!! Thanks for the opportunity! :-)
I’ve learned that sometimes it doesn’t matter what you do, just that you do it! Whether you’re walking down the block or running a marathon, it’s just good to do what you can; every little bit helps! And you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself when you slip up a bit. It’ll all even out.
OK, maybe I didn’t just learn that, but the blogs (yours included, of course) has helped confirm that. Thanks!
I learned that sleeping more really IS good for my health! I feel so much better during the day when I get a good night’s rest! There is such a big difference between 4 hours of sleep and 7 hours of sleep.
I’ve learned that eating a huge breakfast will not make me gain weight…eat all you want during the day and it will somehow burn off. Even on days I sit in an office all day, i still make sure to eat a very big breakfast that I enjoy!
I’ve learned that you must, absolutely, positively, have to cross train. I’ve picked up spinning in the past week (three times already!) and love it. I should have been doing that and swimming while training for my marathon, but instead I focused on only running, with a bit of pilates and strength here and there. Wrong wrong wrong!!!
I’ve learned that exercise is not the enemy and it’s never as bad as I think it’s going to be! I think I have this idea of what it was like to exercise at 300lbs and now that I’m far from that, it’s so much easier and it feels great! Ridding my brain of that pre-conceived notion of what it “was” like has been a huge learning process!
