Check out this picture I found on the website last night! At the finish line…I actually sprinted and caught up to these three people.
Note:
I wasn’t anywhere near this pack!
HARD CORE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, that wasn’t all the food I had yesterday!
There was more…
I ended up eating the rest of this Optimum bar!
It was just kinda sitting there….so…
In my belly it went! Nothing was safe near me yesterday!
I didn’t care for it much. Actually, I scraped off the icing and ate it plain. It was better without it. :) I gobbled that up and was still hungry before bed, so I had a few handfuls of cereal. I couldn’t believe it but when I went to bed I was still hunrgy! But, then I passed out from exhaustion. Eric was like, ‘I’m super hungry too’…lol…like I said, the spectator sport is HARD work! He slept for 4 hours yesterday afternoon! bahaha.
I can’t believe it, but I’m barely, barely sore at all today! This is absolutely mind-blowing to me because I am typically always sore after long runs, and I was very sore after my 10k race last month. I think my pre-and post race nutrition plus immediate and continued stretching throughout the day yesterday REALLY helped! I think I stretched about 5 times yesterday and then a long one in bed before I hit the hay. :) Stretching rocks!!!
This morning, I wanted to celebrate my race with a fun new Green Monster, I’d like to call
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Green Monster
Ingredients:
- 1/2 serving PC extra-firm organic tofu
- 3 cups steamed spinach (I made a big batch yesterday and put it in a glass pyrex dish)
- 1 T PC Just Peanuts Peanut Butter
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 T carob powder
- 1/2 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate infusion powder
- 1 cup PC low-fat soy milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cubes ice
- 1/2 T coconut oil
- 1 T chia seeds
- 1 small banana
Wow was this GM ever amazing!!! I felt like I was sipping on the smoothest, most luxurious drink ever. It was creamy, creamy, creamy! It actually made more than in the glass below and I quickly chugged it back straight out of the blender. ;)
I’ve got a crazy busy day of orders today (about 6!) so I need to get cracking in the kitchen.
Thank you to everyone for your congrats on my race!!! You all rock!
Have a great day!
I have finally learned (at age 37) after battling my weight all my life that no amount of fad foods, hot diets, excessive excercise, and/or gimmicks are going to give me that body I so desire!! I have learned that by restricting myself over and over again I have just created more rebound eating thus a nasty cycle. I am SO grateful for your site that shows how you can eat healthy, whole foods, and lots of them and be healthy on the inside and out!! Through your blog you have opened my eyes to so many options, food choices, natural supplements (chia seeds) etc that I am so excited to incorporate into my new lifestyle NOT diet!!
Thank you so very much!!
Jody
I’m finally realizing how “mean” I’ve been to my body most (if not all) of my life. I finally had that “lightbulb” moment go off, and realise that no fad diet is ever going to help my body permanently, and that I have to make it a lifestyle, not a short term band-aid (as it were).
So, I’m taking a lot of time to research how I can improve my health and fitness by ensuring I eat the right types of foods, eliminate all that nasty processed crap and get back to basics.
Now, thanks to your site, I’m making the changes I need to. And, I know how to make a Green Monster now! YAY! off to buy spinach after work :-)
Oh, and I’ve love to try the amazing greens.
Thanks so much
Liane
I have loved learning about chia seeds from your blog. And also, I’ve incorporated hill walking on the treadmill as part of my run training…and I think it’s really helping!
I learned that running is as much mental as physical for me! I’m training for my first 1/2 marathon and have completed 8 & 9 mile runs in the past 2 weeks. I’ve been running for 3 years and this is the first year I’ve gone more than 3 miles!
I have learned alot about interval training and how it can sometimes be more beneficial then steady state cardio.
I love reading your website and the idea of a healthy weight for your body. I also love the green monsters, but I don’t have a picture to submit. Thanks again for this wonderful, inspiring website!! Best, Rebecca
I have learned the importance of listening to my body. I need to eat when it’s hungry, because if I don’t I tend to overeat later. I also like learning about all the health benefits of things like chia seeds, hemp, and coconut oil. I would love to try the amazing greens.
I have learned about the benefits of flax seed!
I’ve learned that a giant handful of spinach in a smoothie has almost no taste and adds tons of nutrition! After spinach I started adding protein powder and flax seed and the taste isn’t much different than my basic fruit smoothie. So, I’ve learned that green smoothies rock and now I find myself craving them every morning!
I have recently learned that there are a ton of quick and healthy snacks that taste way better then junk (okios/granola, bars, any form of nut butter, etc). I was inspired by all the health blogs I have been reading and my eating has dramatically improved. Thanks to bloggers like you!
I’ve recently learned that it’s the big picture that really count. For example, in the past I would get really upset if I missed a workout one day or ate something I wished I wouldn’t have. Now I realize that I just have to get back on track the next day! There’s always a chance to do better!
Thanks SO much for doing this giveaway. I really hope I win!!!!
I have been learning how to cook more healthy meals for my husband and me! Also, Green Monsters are the greatest! :)
I’ve learned to add spinach to my smoothies, and my parents have started doing the same!
I learned from you that if i steam my spinach a bit, it’s even better in my smoothy in the AM.
You look SO strong in that race photo!
I have learned how important sufficient rest is. . . and still don’t do enough of it!
I’ve learned that fats are GOOD for me and help me glow :]
I have learned A LOT lately about recovery and nourishing food for the body after working out. You think you know but you just keep on learning!!! You go girl, what a run!!
From reading www.ohsheglows.com,Eat-Live-Run,CrazySexyLife, I have learned that:
1-Food is Fuel.
2-An alkalizing diet totally encompasses a healthy lifestyle without counting calories, etc.
3-Stop looking at the scale number and just listen to my body.
Thank you Angela for being inspiring all day, every day. You rock!

Angela,
I love, love, love green monsters. I have learned to think pay attention to whether or not you are hungry and to eat foods that do things for your body as opposed to being ’empty calories’. I have also learned to SHARE THE LOVE with all things healthy.
Have a great day!
i have learned to appreciate my body and all it does for me. to enjoy my runs for the first time ever because i can recognize the strength and vitality of my own legs and lungs.
