Check out this picture I found on the website last night! At the finish line…I actually sprinted and caught up to these three people.
Note:
I wasn’t anywhere near this pack!
HARD CORE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, that wasn’t all the food I had yesterday!
There was more…
I ended up eating the rest of this Optimum bar!
It was just kinda sitting there….so…
In my belly it went! Nothing was safe near me yesterday!
I didn’t care for it much. Actually, I scraped off the icing and ate it plain. It was better without it. :) I gobbled that up and was still hungry before bed, so I had a few handfuls of cereal. I couldn’t believe it but when I went to bed I was still hunrgy! But, then I passed out from exhaustion. Eric was like, ‘I’m super hungry too’…lol…like I said, the spectator sport is HARD work! He slept for 4 hours yesterday afternoon! bahaha.
I can’t believe it, but I’m barely, barely sore at all today! This is absolutely mind-blowing to me because I am typically always sore after long runs, and I was very sore after my 10k race last month. I think my pre-and post race nutrition plus immediate and continued stretching throughout the day yesterday REALLY helped! I think I stretched about 5 times yesterday and then a long one in bed before I hit the hay. :) Stretching rocks!!!
This morning, I wanted to celebrate my race with a fun new Green Monster, I’d like to call
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Green Monster
Ingredients:
- 1/2 serving PC extra-firm organic tofu
- 3 cups steamed spinach (I made a big batch yesterday and put it in a glass pyrex dish)
- 1 T PC Just Peanuts Peanut Butter
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 T carob powder
- 1/2 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate infusion powder
- 1 cup PC low-fat soy milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cubes ice
- 1/2 T coconut oil
- 1 T chia seeds
- 1 small banana
Wow was this GM ever amazing!!! I felt like I was sipping on the smoothest, most luxurious drink ever. It was creamy, creamy, creamy! It actually made more than in the glass below and I quickly chugged it back straight out of the blender. ;)
I’ve got a crazy busy day of orders today (about 6!) so I need to get cracking in the kitchen.
Thank you to everyone for your congrats on my race!!! You all rock!
Have a great day!
The most important thing I have learned recently is to listen to my body, eat when I am hungry, not when I am bored or upset and that a rest day is not the end of the world, it is actually good for you and your body
I’ve learned the huge benifits of green monsters. They taste really good and the different combo’s are endless. Smoothies, for me, taste better than green juice and seem to be packed with more nutritonal items. I get more bang for my breakfast!
I have finally learned how important it is to eat ENOUGH when working out on a consistent basis. Since I have consiously eating more calories to fuel my workouts I have so much more energy. Not just during the exercise but throughout the day as well!
I’ve learned about all the benefits of chia seeds. I can’t wait to start adding them to my smoothies!
I have learned the value of raw food! I was completely unaware of the tremendous nutritional value of raw foods. This has added a whole new dimension to my knoweledge of healthful eating!
I’ve learned that to stay at a healthy weight, you need to EAT! I used to skip breakfast, and endure hunger pains in an effort to lose weight. But I would end up eating huge dinners and snacking at night, only to start the cycle all over the next day! Now I start my morning with a smoothie with lots of fruit, snacks are fruits, veggies, cheese or energy bars.
I have a “desk” job and work 40-50 hour weeks. I have learned that I am more productive at work, and once I get home if I pull myself away from the desk and move!! I take a 15-min speed walk break in the morning and one in the afternoon. It helps my body and my mind!
The most important thing I’ve learned about myself in regard to staying on track is that when I reach a certain level of hunger? I can’t trust myself to stick to the gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, noredmeantness that keeps me feeling good. Keeping snacks on hand at all times is key!
I have learned that its important to listen to your body’s reaction to foods. Eating meat and some daisry leaves me bloated and wreaks havoc on my skin. Also,I have learned that there are so many vegetarian websites with so many great recipes that I am confident I can make the switch to a meat free lifestyle and not be forced to eat salads all day!
I have learned that I need to listen to my body and that you CAN get a good workout in without running (an injury taught me that!). I’ve also learned (okay in the process of learning…) that taking a day (or two!) off from exercise can be a good thing and is nothing to feel guilty about
I have learned that my body responds in a much more positive way when I rely less on meat as a protein source. I have been trying out a lot of interesting vegetarian recipes and it has been fun!
The healthy thing that I have learned is that instead of just staying withing my calories/etc for the day (I DO count for now :) ) I need to make sure that those are HEALTHY, nutritious calories, rather than just whatever fits.
Hey there! Alright..I didn’t miss getting in on the action of the contest..yay!
I have learned not to be a scale addict. Using the tape measure, mirror and how your clothes are fitting to judge your fat loss progress.
I’ve learned that my body will sort itself out as long as I am exercising and eating right. Some weeks I am angelic with my exercise and eating, and the scale doesn’t budge, while other weeks I am a rebel and the scale works in my favour. I’ve realized that I need to strike a balance and that eventually, the fluctuations even out :)
I have learned how AMAZING Green Monsters are!!
But i have also learned how important recovery is after running/cycling. How it is crucial for you to stretch well (YOGA) and then enjoy a nutrient dense smoothie (G.MONSTER!!) after a workout. I have seen results by doing these two things: my speed and endurance have both increased!
I learned that everything is ok in moderation.
I have learned that food is not your enemy but something your body needs.
I have tried a number of new things from this blog. Green monsters are amazing! I am totally hooked. I also want to try the chia and hemp seeds you talk so much about.
I’m currently learning just how much water my body needs to stay hydrated and well-functioning. For me, good health is about learning to listen to my body, to feed its needs appropriately and be able to tell when a craving is just a craving. Part of that is realizing how much better I feel when I drink more water, and how food gets processed more comfortably.
Also, I already emailed you my green monster story. Plus, I’m hosting GREEN SMOOTHIE WEEK (!!) on the my blog, Kitchen Courage.
I have learned how to use my chia seeds in different ways, making chia gel, chia crackers on a food dehydrator, crunchy topping on yogurt or baked goods!!
I’ve learned that my Green Monster BEFORE treadmill is much better than after. (sometimes I have another after also!)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Amazing Grasses! Thank you Angela for the opportunity and all your motivation!
I have learned (or am still learning), that only I control my destiny. The outcome of my healthy journey is all on me. Why blame the pizza guy, the kids, the friend who takes me out to dinner, the flyer with all the fun foods, the stupid food monster in my belly. No, it’s all on me.
Reading this blog, and those like it, helps me so much, and inspires me. I am pushing myself to have them open on my computer all the time, so when I am thinking of grabbing the doritos, there it is, showing me a better way, guiding me, but also teaching me to be accountable to MYSELF.
I need visual, direction, hands on tangible inspiration, my willpower alone doesn’t cut it.
I’m heading out shopping today, getting ingredients for the green monsters, to make a staple in my daily intake, as well as many other healthy options I’ve jotted down, to change my way of eating, and thinking.
Thank you!!!
