Check out this picture I found on the website last night! At the finish line…I actually sprinted and caught up to these three people.
Note:
I wasn’t anywhere near this pack!
HARD CORE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, that wasn’t all the food I had yesterday!
There was more…
I ended up eating the rest of this Optimum bar!
It was just kinda sitting there….so…
In my belly it went! Nothing was safe near me yesterday!
I didn’t care for it much. Actually, I scraped off the icing and ate it plain. It was better without it. :) I gobbled that up and was still hungry before bed, so I had a few handfuls of cereal. I couldn’t believe it but when I went to bed I was still hunrgy! But, then I passed out from exhaustion. Eric was like, ‘I’m super hungry too’…lol…like I said, the spectator sport is HARD work! He slept for 4 hours yesterday afternoon! bahaha.
I can’t believe it, but I’m barely, barely sore at all today! This is absolutely mind-blowing to me because I am typically always sore after long runs, and I was very sore after my 10k race last month. I think my pre-and post race nutrition plus immediate and continued stretching throughout the day yesterday REALLY helped! I think I stretched about 5 times yesterday and then a long one in bed before I hit the hay. :) Stretching rocks!!!
This morning, I wanted to celebrate my race with a fun new Green Monster, I’d like to call
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Green Monster
Ingredients:
- 1/2 serving PC extra-firm organic tofu
- 3 cups steamed spinach (I made a big batch yesterday and put it in a glass pyrex dish)
- 1 T PC Just Peanuts Peanut Butter
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 T carob powder
- 1/2 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate infusion powder
- 1 cup PC low-fat soy milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cubes ice
- 1/2 T coconut oil
- 1 T chia seeds
- 1 small banana
Wow was this GM ever amazing!!! I felt like I was sipping on the smoothest, most luxurious drink ever. It was creamy, creamy, creamy! It actually made more than in the glass below and I quickly chugged it back straight out of the blender. ;)
I’ve got a crazy busy day of orders today (about 6!) so I need to get cracking in the kitchen.
Thank you to everyone for your congrats on my race!!! You all rock!
Have a great day!
I’ve loved learning about the benefits of flax, chia seeds, etc from your blog! Kudos on the great nutritional info!
Oh, and I’d love to win the giveaway, too :).
Congrats on your run!
I have learned that I need specific types of fuel depending on which workouts I am doing.
I’ve enjoyed learning more about the health benefits of greens like spinach and kale. I knew they were super healthy, but you have provided more info than I what I previously knew. Thanks! I’d love to win this giveaway:)
I’ve learned that I have to plan out my eating for sure!
I can’t get starving otherwise I reach for whatever is easy and quick! Small little meals along the day. I want some amazing grass!!! : )
I learned more about the benefits of being a vegetarian/vegan in the past few months and completely overhauled my diet. I love that so many of your recipes are veganized!
I’ve been reading more about the perfect card/protein/fat ratios to strive for daily! I’d LOOOOVE to win Amazing Grass! Thanks for the opportunity.
p.s. your pb/chocolate GM looks amazing!
Congratulations on the race Angela! You did amazing!
Good to know about the stretching too, I hate being sore after intense workouts…maybe I just need to get more hardcore about my stretching!
I’ve learned the importance of fueling properly before and after long workouts. Especially long runs!
what a great GM recipe!
I’ll make sure to send you my favorite one today.
Lately I’ve learned that I don’t have to do everything every day to still get the benefits. I kind of knew that already, but it’s sinking in that I don’t need to fit everything in and make myself miserable if I miss something. As long as I’m balancing everything and am still happy, it’s okay. Our schedule (because of our upcoming trip) and weather has been wacky which has thrown off our running, but it’s all okay in the end.
Congrats on the 10k! Thats amazing :)
I have really been researching post workout fuel and how to replenish my body after my long runs. Your blog has really helped me open my eyes up to how important it is as well! I used to think I only needed protein afterwards!!
I’ve learned that I do not have to be strict with my diet ALL the time. Though I already heard this before, I never really believed it. Now I do and have been putting it into practice to prove it to myself. It’s ok to indulge every now and then, in moderation.
I always try to do lots of weight training on my arms because I “don’t like” them and can do 15lb+ curls and whatnot… but I was reading Beyonce’s interview in Self magazine where she just uses 5 lb weights and does the movements for a minute at a time or until she can’t move her arms. I started doing this instead of the heavy weights and I’m really liking the results so far!
Congrats on finishing your first 10-miler!
WOW…that’s a crazy giveaway! I have learned so much in the past few months, but one I’m working on right now is that is important for you to fuel your body with proper foods AFTER a workout – I really never did this before (eek!)
Congratulations, Angela! You are an incredible inspiration :o)
Recently, I’ve learned to listen to my body and honor what she’s telling me. You’ve helped me a lot with this realization!
I have learned that I need to eat healthier foods in order to have energy to continue working out like I do. I work out everyday and would sometimes not eat nearly enough, but now I eat healthy foods and portion sizes. I have more energy and can work out with more intensity!
That’s great that you’re not sore today! Kudos for all the stretching, it really works wonders.
Hmmm…recent knowledge would have to be about chia seeds, especially since they have more omega-3s than flax! I need to try them.
That I have to lose my all or nothing attitude. Since finding out that I’m pregnant I’ve really been able to use this time to focus on healthy food choices so my body and baby gets what it really needs.
Wooo looky at you kicking some booty! Awesome! :D
For our green monster stories, do they have to be green? We have smoothies almost everyday but they aren’t green. There’s greens in them but usually mine are purple from blueberries. :D
Hi! I absolutely love your website, and I have learned tons from you about the chia seeds. My first order came in today from www.getchia.com for 1 1/2 lb bag for $12.99..cheapest I have found on the internet. I put them in my black bean soup and my salad yesterday. Yum!! I’d love it if I’d win some of the Amazing Grass powder!!
Thanks for your very helpful website!
Deb
