Check out this picture I found on the website last night! At the finish line…I actually sprinted and caught up to these three people.
Note:
I wasn’t anywhere near this pack!
HARD CORE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, that wasn’t all the food I had yesterday!
There was more…
I ended up eating the rest of this Optimum bar!
It was just kinda sitting there….so…
In my belly it went! Nothing was safe near me yesterday!
I didn’t care for it much. Actually, I scraped off the icing and ate it plain. It was better without it. :) I gobbled that up and was still hungry before bed, so I had a few handfuls of cereal. I couldn’t believe it but when I went to bed I was still hunrgy! But, then I passed out from exhaustion. Eric was like, ‘I’m super hungry too’…lol…like I said, the spectator sport is HARD work! He slept for 4 hours yesterday afternoon! bahaha.
I can’t believe it, but I’m barely, barely sore at all today! This is absolutely mind-blowing to me because I am typically always sore after long runs, and I was very sore after my 10k race last month. I think my pre-and post race nutrition plus immediate and continued stretching throughout the day yesterday REALLY helped! I think I stretched about 5 times yesterday and then a long one in bed before I hit the hay. :) Stretching rocks!!!
This morning, I wanted to celebrate my race with a fun new Green Monster, I’d like to call
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Green Monster
Ingredients:
- 1/2 serving PC extra-firm organic tofu
- 3 cups steamed spinach (I made a big batch yesterday and put it in a glass pyrex dish)
- 1 T PC Just Peanuts Peanut Butter
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 T carob powder
- 1/2 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate infusion powder
- 1 cup PC low-fat soy milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cubes ice
- 1/2 T coconut oil
- 1 T chia seeds
- 1 small banana
Wow was this GM ever amazing!!! I felt like I was sipping on the smoothest, most luxurious drink ever. It was creamy, creamy, creamy! It actually made more than in the glass below and I quickly chugged it back straight out of the blender. ;)
I’ve got a crazy busy day of orders today (about 6!) so I need to get cracking in the kitchen.
Thank you to everyone for your congrats on my race!!! You all rock!
Have a great day!
I’ve learned that conscious eating makes every meal worth it. Otherwise I eat way too much and don’t stop to listen to my body’s cues. Learning to listen to my hunger and satiety cues is one of the most important tools I have for a healthy lifestyle.
Also that Green Monsters rock! Just sent a new one along with my first experience with coconut water – yum.
I’ve been trying to get more green vegetables into my diet, and your various green monsters have shown me so many delicious and nutrtious ways to slip some spinach in. Thanks!!!
I’ve learned that it really is fun to learn new ways to incorporate healthy foods into your diet. A few months ago, I thought that I only needed to have fresh vegetables (or canned even) with dinner and I didn’t worry about it with any other meal. I worried way too much about protein before. Protein is important, but I don’t need as much as I thought I did to stay energized and lose weight (I want to lose about 40 more pounds in addition to the 30 I’ve lost).
You are the queen of giveaways!

I have learned that I am responsible for me. All the drama that surrounds me – sick parents, job security, health issues, friend issues ect….all of those things are external and how I choose to deal with them HEALTHFULLY – drinking water, going for walks, talking about it, blogging about it is what will make me successful. Laying blame on external things is just another way of avoiding dealing with me.
I have also really enjoyed learning about chia and hemp seeds. I am going to work my way up to trying them soon!
I learned all about Chia Seeds after clicking on a link a blogger posted. They are one of the most powerful,
functional, and nutritious superfoods in the world!!
Thanks so much for the opportunity. I won’t be able to make myself another green smoothie until tomorrow but I’ll make sure to send email you everything by Thursday!!
Hey just wanted to remind you of the bake sale today!!
Have had several emails from US residents on the bars :( Need some Canadians!
I learned that sometimes you gotta push yourself hard to get the benefits!! I don’t think I challenged myself enough during my triathlon training, so I’ve been making sure to tackle hills, speeds and high heart rates since. My fitness has already improved by leaps and bounds, it’s amazing! Of course, I’m also resting more between the tough workouts, which also helps ;)
I have learned that when it comes to my health EVERY day is different and that I need to honour my body and feed it and move it on it’s terms. I am learning to have faith that my body KNOWS what it needs and I just need to listen to it more.
Thanks so much for a GREAT blog!!
I have learned that it is best to listen to your body instead of going off a calorie goal. you start eating calories when you aren’t hungry to meet your goal, especially if you have listened to your body all day and then at night all the sudden you are low on cals and must eat way too much to make up for it and then are stuffed and feeling low. or, you dont eat enough on hard days and you are hungry and you feel like crud. you have helped me remember the best way to eat – when i’m hungry! though sometimes it is hard not to use low cals as an excuse to eat extra after dinner …. lol.

I’ve learned that no how healthy I eat,I really need to exercising in order to see a differance in my body and feel good. I’ve also learned that I’m no longer on a diet, but made a life change and it has made such a difference in my attitude.
thanks for blogging
The word “diet” has pretty much left my vocabulary, I’ve learned that it’s really not such a good word. I like lifestyle change much better. I’ve learned about chia and flax seeds, which are now part of my everyday diet. I’ve been educating myself a lot lately, now that I have become vegetarian, and can’t believe the wealth of information out there. I have also learned the benefits (and deliciousness) of Green Monsters. People think my green breakfast is a little weird, but they don’t know what they are missing!
I’ve learned that overeating isn’t as bizarre and abnormal as I felt it was, which is quite comforting! lol I learned it from this article (that I thought you’d dig, I’ve been meaning to send it to you but I never got around to it):
http://www.salon.com/env/feature/2009/06/18/overeating/index.html
In summary:
The constant advertising and exposure can effect your food choices. The amount of food you get in a package can effect how much you eat. It’s not unusual to want to eat a full plate of food, it’s natural. The less junk you eat, and the more habitual it becomes to eat healthy because of your mindset. (Just like vegetarians and vegans look at meat and automatically reject it.) Paying attention to your food while you have it instead of thinking about what you’re going to eat next is necessary.
Very interesting information. I’m actually going to check out David Kessler’s book when it’s finally returned from the library. If it’s anything like the interview, it should provide a lot of insight on overeating and our compulsiveness.
But yes. I learned that. :3
I hope I win.. I really want to try that stuff!!
PB2 is awesome in Green Monsters too! That’s how I convinced my husband and in-laws to love the GMs too… when made right it truly tastes like a decadent PB/chocolate milkshake!
Congrats on the race!
I think one of the things I have learned about health and nutrition lately is something that I already knew but took some time to put in motion. Trying to lose weight is not all about eating low fat, most often the low fat option is full of extras that are worse for your body.
I am trying to move away from processed and quick eating habits, to healthy natural options.
I am definately going to pick up some chia seeds too!
I learned a lot more about plasmapheresis yesterday at work!! That counts as health, right?

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY YUM! That Green Monster looks amazing!!
I am learning to stay focused on my heart when it comes to overeating emotionally. It does really help.
Angie, I sent you an email about already submitted green monster story.
Thanks,
Pam

I have learned lately that on natalia roses blog detoxtheworld.com and in her new book detox for women rebounding (jumping on a mini trampoline)is an awesome detox and workout! she has a whole list of benefits from rebounding. she says theres nothing better for your body when you wake up then to rebound for 30 minutes then drink a liter of water. i have tried it and i do feel great!!!!!
The best thing I have learned and put in to practice lately is eating mostly all whole foods. Instead of eating processed junk and obsessing about every calorie, I can eat twice the amount of great tasty foods and not have to obsess over it.
i’ve learned the importance of clean eating and avoiding frozen lunches if i can help it. eating real food is so much more satisfying and makes me feel 1000 times better!
