Check out this picture I found on the website last night! At the finish line…I actually sprinted and caught up to these three people.
Note:
I wasn’t anywhere near this pack!
HARD CORE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, that wasn’t all the food I had yesterday!
There was more…
I ended up eating the rest of this Optimum bar!
It was just kinda sitting there….so…
In my belly it went! Nothing was safe near me yesterday!
I didn’t care for it much. Actually, I scraped off the icing and ate it plain. It was better without it. :) I gobbled that up and was still hungry before bed, so I had a few handfuls of cereal. I couldn’t believe it but when I went to bed I was still hunrgy! But, then I passed out from exhaustion. Eric was like, ‘I’m super hungry too’…lol…like I said, the spectator sport is HARD work! He slept for 4 hours yesterday afternoon! bahaha.
I can’t believe it, but I’m barely, barely sore at all today! This is absolutely mind-blowing to me because I am typically always sore after long runs, and I was very sore after my 10k race last month. I think my pre-and post race nutrition plus immediate and continued stretching throughout the day yesterday REALLY helped! I think I stretched about 5 times yesterday and then a long one in bed before I hit the hay. :) Stretching rocks!!!
This morning, I wanted to celebrate my race with a fun new Green Monster, I’d like to call
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Green Monster
Ingredients:
- 1/2 serving PC extra-firm organic tofu
- 3 cups steamed spinach (I made a big batch yesterday and put it in a glass pyrex dish)
- 1 T PC Just Peanuts Peanut Butter
- 1 T cocoa powder
- 1/2 T carob powder
- 1/2 scoop Amazing Grass Chocolate infusion powder
- 1 cup PC low-fat soy milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cubes ice
- 1/2 T coconut oil
- 1 T chia seeds
- 1 small banana
Wow was this GM ever amazing!!! I felt like I was sipping on the smoothest, most luxurious drink ever. It was creamy, creamy, creamy! It actually made more than in the glass below and I quickly chugged it back straight out of the blender. ;)
I’ve got a crazy busy day of orders today (about 6!) so I need to get cracking in the kitchen.
Thank you to everyone for your congrats on my race!!! You all rock!
Have a great day!
Today on Good Morning America I heard that a new study claims that bike riding and maybe just Exercise can help treat Parkinson’s.
I learned that deprivation is not the key, it is important to fuel yourself with wholesome healthy and balanced food! I learned that from your blog :)
What a great giveaway! Yay! for not being sore :) I’m loving that mix for quick, energizing and satisfying smoothies. I’ve recently learned at the SNE conference that there are 3 billion living on less than $2 a day, more than 800 million go to bed hungry, 2.6 billion don’t have access to sanitation among many other staggering statistics on food insecurity. It’s really eye opening.
I’ve learned how important it is to give yourself credit! A little pat on the back for all the great things you’re already doing will inspire you to keep doing them and to do more!
I have recently learned about the amazingess of chia seeds and how you can create a totally raw pudding out of them since they gel in liquid!
i’ve learned the impact of GREEN foods on health! how important they are for alkalinity, for example. awesome reason to eat more :)
lately I have been learning about the benefits of eating raw foods and have been trying to incorporate some into my diet. Awesome greens giveaway!!
Recently I have learned just how important, and rewarding, it is to work yourself out hard. Better to work out really hard for 35 minutes, then lollygag on an elliptical, reading a magazine, for an hour. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy my HRM is that I can see just how hard I am pushing myself.
I’ve learned to LISTEN to my body. I also have a newfound love for chia seeds!
I’ve learned most recently about food to eat before and after a workout. This has really helped with my morning workouts and led me to not feel completely knocked out by 1 pm. :)
Congrats on the great run!
I’ve learned to listen to my body. Dairy is not my friend and my stomach reminds me. It’s not always easy to eat a different diet than the people in your life but you have to do what’s best for you.
The major thing that I have learned in all this is that I’m not a fan of the food processing (mostly meats) industry… and that I need to be much MUCH more careful about my purchases. Problem is … I still love meat!
I’ve learned a lot about how eating locally can not only be good for the community (local and global) but also for my body… I keep joking with my husband that the older I get, the more “hippy” I will become because all of this sustainable living stuff just gets to me.
Congrats on feeling so great post-race!
I have been learning about all the hidden stuff in processed foods and non-organic produce…I’ve really been trying to eat more natural stuff…most of the time ;-)
Let’s see I emailed you my fun monsters already. One thing that I learned recently is ground flax is better absorbed by your body than whole flax seeds.
I’ve learned that you don’t need to eat less on the days you don’t work out! I always thought that you don’t need much fuel but in reality you need just as much to help you recover!
I’ve learned the benefit to Chia Seeds :)
What I’ve learned about health, fitness, or nutrition in the past little while:
You have to make lifestyle changes that work for you. It’s easy to read various healthy living blogs and want to emulate others’ lifestyles but until you find something that works for you, you’ll always feel like you’re on a diet or that your healthy lifestyle is just a fad.
I take bits and pieces of information from Blog Land but I will always go about getting healthy and fit my way no matter how long it takes me.
Hey Angela, congrats on your run! And even more congrats on feeling great today!!
As for what I’ve learned recently about my overall health is that it’s about QUALITY! It’s not about calorie counting, or limiting the food you eat, as long as what you eat is healthy and nutritious! And this even goes for excersize – if you only have 15 minutes to workout, that’s okay, as long as it’s a GREAT workout!!
I have learned more about vegetarian and vegan eating and have incorporate more meatless meals into my diet. I am loving it!
