US Aurorae Yoga Mat Giveaway!

December 1, 2009

Happy DECEMBURRRRRR!

And quite chilly this morning too.

Well, November ended with a BANG! And December started with a BANG!

Let me explain…

Yesterday, I was on Craigslist looking for a Christmas gift for Eric. And guess what I came across? A beautiful couch- for a crazy good price. I immediately emailed the seller and asked if we could take a look at it. I figured that it would be gone already because good deals sell so fast on Craigslist, especially in Toronto!

It was a dark brown sectional couch with a chaise (always wanted one!) and it was only a few months old and in mint condition. The owner was selling it because they were moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo (it is a BIG couch!).

Eric stopped by on his way home from work and…

We bought our very first couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every couch we have had up to this point has been a hand me down which is absolutely awesome, but we have secretly been longing for a couch that fit our new family room. After looking at prices earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t afford one.

He was shocked that it wasn’t gone already. He had to drive all the way to his brother’s to pick up a van, then drive back and put 1 part of the couch in the van, then drop it off, and then drive all the way back to Toronto to pick up the rest!!! He didn’t get home until about 11:30 last night. Poor guy!!!! I was at home waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Luckily, S & B kept me company. ;)

We are absolutely in love with it:

It’s incredibly soft and comfy…

IMG_7651

and will be great for entertaining!

IMG_7652 IMG_7654

…it is like brand new to us and our wallets are very happy. We figured that THREE lucky friends can crash on this couch at once! hahaha. ;) We are still university students at heart…

We will probably end up buying most of our furniture on Craigslist. You really can’t go wrong, 1) You save huge, and 2) You are recycling!! They have lots of cool antique pieces on Craigslist. Yes, there is a lot of crap to sift through, but it is so worth it. I also check out the FREE page a lot too! You’d be surprised how many people give away amazing things because they are in a rush.

The only thing we are not sure of is where to put our other brown couch. Right now it is here:

IMG_7662

and it looks kind of odd…but we were thinking of keeping it around for our Christmas party.

We also tried here:

IMG_7657

and it looked even more odd…

So we aren’t really sure what to do with it! Ideas????

I also want to find a coffee table off Craigslist as I don’t really like the one that is there now.

And why did Decemburrr start with a bang?

We have roofers here this morning and it sounds like an EARTHQUAKE in this house today! I swear they are going to fall through the roof on me. I woke up at 6am to BANG, BANG, BANG!!! I hit my alarm but it didn’t stop!

Well I am in love with your couch! It is exactly what we have been looking for ourselves, but just like you, we cannot afford a brand new one. Actually at this point even Craigslist would be a stretch for us as we really need to save but WOW I’m envious! The couch we have right now is from Craigslist and if we were to get a new one I would move our old couch (similar size/shape as your old one) into our office. It’s nice to have some sitting/lounging area in the office in my opinion. And if it isn’t heavy you can always move it to one of those “awkward” places you posted when you have guests over and then move it back to the office when they leave.

As far as the yoga mat – I want one! The one I have now has seen it’s last day…many many days ago. If I win I would love to have the violet color. Purple is my favorite color and it puts me in such a calm and relaxed mood.

I love your new couch! We have a sectional, too, and they are great for houseguests!:) I would put your old couch in the study/office? Or do you have an informal den/family room? And if I won the mat I would choose ocean; anything water-related is awesome!

I would put the couch in a basement, study, or office!! :)

And I am totally digging the Violet mat. I’m usually not a violet kinda gal! :)

I would either donate your extra couch or sell it on craigslist!

I really need a yoga mat, I’ve actually never owned one… I just use my carpet! It’s a tie–I’d pick either violet or black..
Love the new couch! For the old one, I’d probably move it into another room. Unless, if you’re entertaining for Christmas, I’d keep it perpendicular to the fireplace, it seems kind of cozy that way!

I would choose the violet yogamat. And I would donate the couch to a place that helps get homeless families settled into new homes. Where I live there is a place called Bridging – it looks like a similar place in Toronto is

i say keep the couch until after you’re done entertaining for the holidays, perhaps in another room[?] and then try to donate or sell it.

love the solar colored yoga mat – i could use some creative inspiration right now at work ;)

Oh my goodness, I love yoga! I’ve been practicing it on-and-off for the past 8 years. My old mat has developed this odd odor, so it is definitely time for a new one. I would choose the seamist green.
As for your old couch, do you have a finished basement? Perhaps you could put it there? If it doesn’t work anywhere in the house, maybe in the spirit of the holidays (which I just realized are right around the corner! Ahh!) you could donate it!
Cheers!

I would try putting it in a different room!! You could always move it back into the living room for parties, but then you’d be able to expand seating into another room. :-)

Violet, please and thank you!

I’d want the solar color because now that it’s cold I need some WARMTH in my life! Plus, it matches my hair.

I’d also take your old couch to the Salvation Army or some other sort of charity.

I would either put it on Craigslist or buy a new cover for it so it would fit in in a different room!

I would re-sell the old couch on Craig’s List (unless you have friends/family who could get good use out of it) and make a little money!! I would LOVE a new yoga mat! I would go with the Solar color because I usually go for the calming colors, and it’d be great to have a more energizing option!!

Maybe you could put the couch outside for the summer time? It’s fun to make a nice space outside when summer is so short!

and I love the purple mat

I think you should either find a shelter that could use it (or knows someone who needs one) or pass along to a college “kid”.

I would love the yoga mat in solar! It is bright and sunny and invigorating!!!

Thanx for all of your recipes and inspiring stories and quotes. I have passed along your blog to a co-worker! We both love it! I have also made (and tweaked to our tastes) your power muffins and they are the BOMB!!

Hmm….maybe put it in a spare room? Craigslist it! Put it in the basement for when extra seating might be needed? Good luck!

I think I would also sell it on Craigslist and you could get a different coffee table.

If I won the yoga mat I would love it in Violet.
