I loved Caitlins posts on staying motivated. I think that is really important with pretty much everything, but especially working out. There are so many times that I am just not motivated to go work out, but then I remember why I do it and how it makes me feel and I look for the motivation!
P.S. Amazing Grass Rocks!
I just found oh she glows the other day when I noticed you tweeting about juicers. I came in and watched your video about changing the way we (women) look at ourselves and are constantly trying to achieve unrealistic standards for ourselves. I struggled with accute anorexia in high school and I’m definitely in a much healthier place these days. I don’t calorie count, try not to weigh myself, and I do a lot of yoga, etc. However, I find there’s always something small about my body I’d like to change. When I watched that video, it was like a great reminder to JUST STOP! Thank you!
xoxo
My favorite was the Dear Body post. I just thought it was fantastic and it was a really unique perspective. I have it bookmarked for life so I can go back and read it later :-)
I loved the dear body post, and all of the variations of the plank (which are HARD!!) Thank-you, you are a great inspiration!
Angela, I love Oh She Glows and read it everyday. But I think the SGBC really added something special to the blog. It is so refreshing to read about a woman who loves her body for what it can DO! My favourite post was the “Dear Body” one — really got me thinking about how I treat my own!
Happy 9 month birthday OSG! This month I have really focused on myself, my body and what it can do. I have tried to scrutinize myself a lot less, and instead focus on what I can do. This body can swim for hours, lift weights, prepare a fabulous meal for 20 and pick up my nephews and puppies and shower them with love. If that’s not something to celebrate, then I really don’t know what is!
I also stopped calorie counting this month, inspired by the whole post and conversation that went on a few weeks ago. I feel so much calmer, because I am not always stressing about food!
Thank you for doing this Angela!
I loved all the new exercises, it really helped me get out of the same routine I’ve been doing for awhile.
The SGBBC impacted me by showing a holistic approach to fitness: body, mind, and soul…not just body body body! So refreshing!
I really enjoyed the ‘love yourself’ discussions especially the “Makeup: Can We Live Without It”?
It has been a good month! The boot camp really inspired me to push myself and sort of create my own challenge. I really liked all of the different exercises that you posted. I have learned so many new things and opened me up to new moves and routines. Thanks, the SGBC was great!
I am a new reader to the blog but I enjoy the inspiration I get from this blog!!
OMG I need Amazing Grass! The SGBC has been so great for me this month. I have loved all the new strength exercises I have learned (and can add to my growing library of them in my head!). I think the biggest thing I have taken away from the SGBC is just to appreciate and love myself TODAY, no matter what! And, I am trying to focus less on calorie counting, and more on what my body needs each day.
I loved SGBC! Although I didn’t get to all of the exercises (bad knee that made me stop all exercise) I learnt to love my body just a little bit more and appreciate everything it does for me everyday!
this boot camp challenge reminded me that there’s more to a “makeover” than just the physical aspects – i’m glad we had mini workouts for our mental and emotional selves as well :)
SBBC made me become more aware of my body and what I need to give it to keep it healthy.
It has been a great month as I was told about your bolg just before the SGBC began. I really enjoyed the topics especially the ones earlier in the week about taking days off. I did not work out on Monday or Tuesday and was feeling really blah and even though I think a workout would have helped I just could not seem to get moving. Even though I have been working out regularly for 18th months I still think if I miss a day this routine will end. I think this because it has before. This time around though it is different as I have a new mindset about why I am eating healthy and working out. I am 52 years old and really feel my 50’s will be fabulous and I am probably younger than I have ever been. Great blog I now make it part of my daily routine to check it out. Also I am not a cat person but yours looks like he has real personality. Have a great long weekend.
i love how you have a such a variety of exercises for the sgbc – makes it more fun to workout when it’s something new every day. my favorite post was bobbi’s boot-camp workout – admittedly i haven’t done it yet, but i know when i do it will kick my butt;)
My favorite post was probably one of the most recent ones about not being so hard on yourself for taking a few days off. I feel so guilty when I’m so sore and don’t do any kind of workout. (Probably because in years prior, this would turn into a LONG break just by taking a few days off.) I can identify with all of your posts and simplistic, affordable approaches to being healthy in life.
Oh She Glows has given me a good example of what balance looks like. You eat well and exercise regularly but you are not hard on yourself when you miss a day, in fact you encourage rest days! I also love that you enjoy a cocktail every now and then!
My favorite post was “learning to love the journey.” I have a constant struggle with being extremely hard on myself and focusing on everything I regret doing or not doing every day. This post made me realize that life is too short to only focus on the negative things about my body and my behavior. I’ve started taking time each day to think about things that I did that were great for my body and mind. It has really helped me to stop beating myself up and start loving myself instead. Thanks Angela!
