US Aurorae Yoga Mat Giveaway!

December 1, 2009

Happy DECEMBURRRRRR!

And quite chilly this morning too.

Well, November ended with a BANG! And December started with a BANG!

Let me explain…

Yesterday, I was on Craigslist looking for a Christmas gift for Eric. And guess what I came across? A beautiful couch- for a crazy good price. I immediately emailed the seller and asked if we could take a look at it. I figured that it would be gone already because good deals sell so fast on Craigslist, especially in Toronto!

It was a dark brown sectional couch with a chaise (always wanted one!) and it was only a few months old and in mint condition. The owner was selling it because they were moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo (it is a BIG couch!).

Eric stopped by on his way home from work and…

We bought our very first couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every couch we have had up to this point has been a hand me down which is absolutely awesome, but we have secretly been longing for a couch that fit our new family room. After looking at prices earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t afford one.

He was shocked that it wasn’t gone already. He had to drive all the way to his brother’s to pick up a van, then drive back and put 1 part of the couch in the van, then drop it off, and then drive all the way back to Toronto to pick up the rest!!! He didn’t get home until about 11:30 last night. Poor guy!!!! I was at home waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Luckily, S & B kept me company. ;)

We are absolutely in love with it:

It’s incredibly soft and comfy…

IMG_7651

and will be great for entertaining!

IMG_7652 IMG_7654

…it is like brand new to us and our wallets are very happy. We figured that THREE lucky friends can crash on this couch at once! hahaha. ;) We are still university students at heart…

We will probably end up buying most of our furniture on Craigslist. You really can’t go wrong, 1) You save huge, and 2) You are recycling!! They have lots of cool antique pieces on Craigslist. Yes, there is a lot of crap to sift through, but it is so worth it. I also check out the FREE page a lot too! You’d be surprised how many people give away amazing things because they are in a rush.

The only thing we are not sure of is where to put our other brown couch. Right now it is here:

IMG_7662

and it looks kind of odd…but we were thinking of keeping it around for our Christmas party.

We also tried here:

IMG_7657

and it looked even more odd…

So we aren’t really sure what to do with it! Ideas????

I also want to find a coffee table off Craigslist as I don’t really like the one that is there now.

And why did Decemburrr start with a bang?

We have roofers here this morning and it sounds like an EARTHQUAKE in this house today! I swear they are going to fall through the roof on me. I woke up at 6am to BANG, BANG, BANG!!! I hit my alarm but it didn’t stop!

I agree with everyone who is saying to sell the old couch. Let the new one be the star! That way you can use the money earned to spruce up the living room even more or just save it for later!

As for the mat, I love the ocean color—so calming.

I’m sure you’ve already thought of selling it on Craigslist, but what about donating it somewhere? I bet there are a lot of needy families that would love to have your couch as a Christmas gift!

Violet would be the mat color I would choose – I’m all for feeling calmed when I’m doing yoga.

Do you have a basement or an empty-ish room for the old couch? (LOVELOVELOVE the new one, by the way!) If not, I’d say sell it on Craigslist and have some fun with the extra cash.

I’d love to win the giveaway, and I would pick the violet mat!

Maybe you could put it in the basement or a spare room and just bring it ot the living room for the party for some extra seating. After that, I’d sell it or give it to a salvation army or some similar place. And I’d love the Yoga Mat in Solar!

If you have nowhere to put the extra couch, then I would say try to sell it. I have the same coffee table from Ikea!

I would choose the violet yoga mat, the color is light and it reminds me of the crisp, clean sky.

Re couch, why not put it on Craig’s list? Either that or donate it to some poor recent graduate!

Re the mat, I’d love seamist. I don’t have a mat yet so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I would sell the couch, make you not feel so bad about buying a new one! I think your new couch can fit a ton of people on it. You won’t need another one. I would love a new yoga mat! It’s actually on my Christmas list. I would love it in the Ocean Blue.

I love the new couch!

I’m not sure what the layout of the room is now, but here goes my suggestion: Could you leave the chaise in the corner, as is, put the old couch against the wall on the other side of the sliding door (like in the photo), and the large part of your new couch across from it, maybe near your Christmas tree, or on the other side of it?

I hope that’s not too confusing!

Onto the mats… the Seamist mat immediately jumped out at me, and I love the description. I recently lost my yoga mat in a move into my boyfriend’s house, so I am in need of a new one. :(

Thank you for the opportunity!

Do you have an extra room? Say like an office? You can always stick the extra couch in there!

I’d put the old brown couch in the basement – you never know if someday you could convert another bedroom to a “study” and have a cozy couch in there!

I’d love the green seamist mat. If I won I’d give it to my partner Jess as a Christmas present. :)

I think I would probably keep it around for the Christmas party then put it in another room if I had room. If not, sell/donate it!

I would LOVE the Ocean mat!!

I would try to sell it on ebay or craigslist. My mat color of choice is violet, because that is my favorite color. Thanks Angela. Merry Christmas!

I love your sectional! My husband and I bought a condo two years ago and one of our first (and pretty much only) major purchases was our big comfy sectional couch, they’re awesome! my favorite spot is either one of the big square corners to curl up in. i would keep your old couch the way you had it in the first shot for now, and then give it away after entertaining for the holidays.
i would pick the seamist color mat, since green of any shade is my favorite color.

Hmm..why don’t you do good for the earth and recycle your old couch! Sell if on craigs list, and hopefully someone will buy it and become just as happy with it as you are with your new one!
For the time being, I think you should keep it around where it is, for your holiday parties. This way everyone will have a place to sit and relax, or spend the night!

Good luck choosing a winner for the contest! I love doing yoga and pilates, but I do not have a mat! Im a college student living on a budget haha

PS-I made my first Green Monster the other morning, well it turned out more on the purple side, but it was DELICIOUS! I am now hooked (:

Great find with the couch! I found my kitchen table on craigslist and it’s still standing :)

I would use the extra couch in a den or a spare bedroom. I would also pick the seamist color mat…I love green :)

I agree with a lot of people above and sell it. If you want to keep it, maybe put it in a spare bedroom?

I would choose the Violet color.

Thanks for the giveaway!
