Happy DECEMBURRRRRR!
And quite chilly this morning too.
Well, November ended with a BANG! And December started with a BANG!
Let me explain…
Yesterday, I was on Craigslist looking for a Christmas gift for Eric. And guess what I came across? A beautiful couch- for a crazy good price. I immediately emailed the seller and asked if we could take a look at it. I figured that it would be gone already because good deals sell so fast on Craigslist, especially in Toronto!
It was a dark brown sectional couch with a chaise (always wanted one!) and it was only a few months old and in mint condition. The owner was selling it because they were moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo (it is a BIG couch!).
Eric stopped by on his way home from work and…
We bought our very first couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every couch we have had up to this point has been a hand me down which is absolutely awesome, but we have secretly been longing for a couch that fit our new family room. After looking at prices earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t afford one.
He was shocked that it wasn’t gone already. He had to drive all the way to his brother’s to pick up a van, then drive back and put 1 part of the couch in the van, then drop it off, and then drive all the way back to Toronto to pick up the rest!!! He didn’t get home until about 11:30 last night. Poor guy!!!! I was at home waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Luckily, S & B kept me company. ;)
We are absolutely in love with it:

and will be great for entertaining!
…it is like brand new to us and our wallets are very happy. We figured that THREE lucky friends can crash on this couch at once! hahaha. ;) We are still university students at heart…
We will probably end up buying most of our furniture on Craigslist. You really can’t go wrong, 1) You save huge, and 2) You are recycling!! They have lots of cool antique pieces on Craigslist. Yes, there is a lot of crap to sift through, but it is so worth it. I also check out the FREE page a lot too! You’d be surprised how many people give away amazing things because they are in a rush.
The only thing we are not sure of is where to put our other brown couch. Right now it is here:
and it looks kind of odd…but we were thinking of keeping it around for our Christmas party.

So we aren’t really sure what to do with it! Ideas????
I also want to find a coffee table off Craigslist as I don’t really like the one that is there now.
And why did Decemburrr start with a bang?
We have roofers here this morning and it sounds like an EARTHQUAKE in this house today! I swear they are going to fall through the roof on me. I woke up at 6am to BANG, BANG, BANG!!! I hit my alarm but it didn’t stop!

I’d sell it on craigslist and put the money towards your next purchase.
My favorite yoga mat color is Seamist!
Sell it on Craigslist. Or, bring it to a charity shop so that someone can benefit from it. When I take clothes and books to shops like that, I always see all kinds of furniture.
I want a violet yoga mat. Haha – the description – spiritual, calming, healing, meditative….that’s what I really need in my life right now! I would love to actually do yoga on a regular basis.
You could keep the couch in your “drunk friends stay over” room…just a thought.

well, actually i would use it in my apartment next year!! haha…but for you, i’d say that either craigslist or maybe a second fling shop would be the best bet.
this may be weird, but i think black is my favorite color for a yoga mat! it gives off such a powerful feeling.
I’d list the couch on Craigslist. Even though it’d be nice to have the extra seating for the holidays, wouldn’t you rather just get rid of it and never have to think about it again? People can always sit on the floor ;)
I’d pick the solar. It’s so bright and cheery!
Can you put the couch in front (back facing it) that open doorway which appears to lead to a dinning room? At least until after the party, then get rid of it on craigslist!
I really really want the “Ocean” mat. I love blue because it is bright and fun while still being calming.
I think you should keep your couch where it is for now until after you have people over for Christmas, then sell it on Craigslist. I like the violet mat best!

Pass on your other couch on CL and have someone just as excited as you were to get this one you have. The couch does look a little out of place and lonely now.

I definitely think you should donate the couch to Salvation Army or to an organization that could put it to good use. I think charities sometimes come and pick up donations too so you might want to look into that.
The yoga mats are so pretty! I think I like the violet and the seamist color the best though :)
I would put the couch in the study area and if it just does not fit the decor, then Craigslist!! I would love to try the violet mat!
Do you have a finished basement or guest room? Either of those could use a couch…or, store it for now until you find the best use for it!

I first picked the green, Seamist mat but then I saw the name of the beautiful blue color, Ocean! Being at the ocean is one of my favorite places to go and I would be able to bring it with me in my yoga practice!
as others have said, I would sell the extra couch on craigslist. you could make a little money back and it’s pretty hassle free.

I’d probably either sell or give away/donate the old house. There are so many people (like you!) who are probably looking for a good deal right about now.

For the couch: I’d put it up on Craigslist! Either for free, or for cheap, depending on how worn it is (I have no idea, obviously) – but why not spread around the Craigslist karma, right?

Your brown couch would look good in my guest room/ game room for the bf. I wanted brown couch so bad but received a beautiful striped couch from a family friend. I’d love a new yoga mat in blue for relaxation for me!

If you can’t sell the old couch, I would try to donate it to a charity or nonprofit organization, such as a children’s group home for foster children, or a retirement home, or somewhere like that where it would be appreciated and would get a lot of love :)
