Rock What Your Mama Gave You

April 21, 2010

Hey there!

Just when I thought I couldn’t be MORE grossed out by public pools you guys have to scare me more! Oh man. It will seriously be like Fear Factor when I stick my toe into that water…

I hope you are having a good Wednesday. :) Today has been a busy one…another training day, orders completed, and lots of business stuff going on. Git er done…!

Lunch consisted of leftovers…

I simply took my lentil Neat Sauce out of the freezer and it thawed in the fridge overnight.

My fridge has certainly been working for me overnight lately…from Vegan Overnight Oats to de-thawing the next day’s food. ;)

This portion is about 2 cups worth, so I split it into 2 lunches.

With some discounted organic celery- which might I add, still has a lot of life left in it!

IMG_4728

I actually got up and grabbed the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus for a dip. :) Celery is just…plain on its’ own.

Dessert- Dried organic apricots. One of my all time favourite snacks…

IMG_4742

Dinner was leftovers from last night’s Feelin’ Good Stew. I just love this stew! I was looking forward to it all day.

IMG_4831

I love the addition of the quinoa in this stew…I’m so glad I threw it in on a whim! It really bulked it up.

IMG_4830

Dessert was a tablespoon of organic dark chocolate chips and 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil melted in the micro.

Random yet blissful.

Eric and I just got back from a visit to a sports store where I tried on 1 piece swimsuits (for triathlon training) and padded bike shorts. I left feeling like a 7 year old with a diaper issue. Hopefully I have more luck at the next store!

I really need to get used to the idea of wearing a 1 piece swimsuit again. I actually laughed when I tried one on and looked in the mirror. Seven year old or a grown woman, I couldn’t be sure…

Tonight’s question- Do you own a swimsuit and if so, what kind(s) do you rock? 1 piece, bikini, tankini, thong, bikini, speedo…? ;)

Any suggestions for a killer training swimsuit?

My best tip for swimsuit confidence is to rock what your mama gave you. No one else has YOUR unique body so go show it off and strut your stuff. Be proud of who you are and how hard you work each day to keep yourself healthy and fit.

On that note, I’m going to pass out on the couch…it has been a long day! Can’t wait to snuggle my man and watch some Marriage Ref (Tom Papa we love u!).

Have a great night. :)

My confidence- definitely take it HOME to try it on…there is nothing that will deflate your swimsuit confidence like trying on the suit under fluorescent lighting in unflattering mirrors. Take it home, try it on when you feel your best.

The thought of myself in a swim suit makes me want to throw up.. and I’m only 20. My disgusting body doesn’t deserve to be in a swim suit.

Bikinis with a tankini back from a vacation with mom, and a one-piece from Target to go water skiing in :)

I totally bought the perfect, push-up bikini top from victoria’s secret miracle swimwear… to make up for the fact that my mother forgot to pass her boobs along, haha.

Stand up straight and smile like people are admiring you, because they probably are!

My tips are to get one that actually fits so that its comfortable, then completely disregard the actual size that fits you because it doesn’t matter, and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks of you! They probably aren’t thinking anything, FYI…or maybe their thinking about how gorgeous you are! Either way, rock that bathing suit and do it for no one else but yourself!

Whooo, best swimsuit confidence? Wear it in your room with the lights on, music blaring, and dance! :D (And then maybe go outside in it ;p or take a nap instead lol)

Swim suit confidence is contagious. If you are confident then everyone else around you senses the vibe and loves it. In the end, we all die, so why worry about it. Live life and enjoy!

My best tip would be to remember that pretty much everyone at the pool will be wearing one- why worry about what others may be thinking? Get out there and have fun!

I love to buy some suits and come home to try them on in my own mirror! I love shopping (do it for my job, after all) but hate the atmosphere of most dressing rooms.

Would love some chia seeds!

And the soup sounds so tasty!

I used to be super self conscious when wearing it swim suit- it made me avoid the pool completely. But later I realized that there are people who don’t have the ‘luxury’ of a healthy body. So now I simply remind myself to be thankful of having one that works.this immediately improves my mood as well as my posture! Be thankful for the body you’ve got and swim for those who may not have the same luxury as you do :)

My tip for swimsuit confidence:
Remember what your body does for you every single day. Be grateful that you can walk, run, swim, bike, jump up and down, skip down the street, pretend to be a ballerina and stand on your tip-toes, get a piggy-back ride from your handsome boyfriend, etc.
I ran my first marathon last October, at the age of 19. I have probably the worst body image anyone should be allowed to have, and this followed me through elementary, junior high, high school… but an hour after I crossed the finish line (and the pain went away ;) ) I remember thinking, how can i possibly be critical of my body ever again when it just carried me 26.2 miles?? My body is a hero!!!
This is what I think about when I start to feel self-conscious. I think about what my body has done for me.

Swimsuit confidence is a toughy! Honestly, I just focus on getting it on and going to have FUN, because really, that’s what life is all about!

My tip for swim suit confidence is to put on some great shades with your suit and strut like you own the place!

I always rock a 1 piece. I think a black 1 piece, with the right cut is the classiest swimsuit a girl can wear!!

My tip is to exercise before you need to wear your swimsuit. You’ll feel more confident just knowing you did something healthy and your body will show it!

I encourage you to write a note to your body. Glamour had women do this and it was inspiring. Post it in the mirror where you’ll be changing or put it up in your gym locker. Realize that regardless of what you ‘look’ like in your suit- you are blessed to have a physically fit and HEALTHY body. If anything, get a black suit; they are always the most slimming.

My swim suit confidence comes from reminding myself that we all have different bodies, and I don’t compare. As long as I know I’m treating my bod well with proper nutrition and exercise, it’s all good. ;)

I was going to say exactly what you said!! Strut that bathing suit, be it a teeny-weeny bakini or a one piece – you are beautiful!
