Hey there!
Just when I thought I couldn’t be MORE grossed out by public pools you guys have to scare me more! Oh man. It will seriously be like Fear Factor when I stick my toe into that water…
I hope you are having a good Wednesday. :) Today has been a busy one…another training day, orders completed, and lots of business stuff going on. Git er done…!
Lunch consisted of leftovers…
I simply took my lentil Neat Sauce out of the freezer and it thawed in the fridge overnight.
My fridge has certainly been working for me overnight lately…from Vegan Overnight Oats to de-thawing the next day’s food. ;)
This portion is about 2 cups worth, so I split it into 2 lunches.
With some discounted organic celery- which might I add, still has a lot of life left in it!
I actually got up and grabbed the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus for a dip. :) Celery is just…plain on its’ own.
Dessert- Dried organic apricots. One of my all time favourite snacks…
Dinner was leftovers from last night’s Feelin’ Good Stew. I just love this stew! I was looking forward to it all day.
I love the addition of the quinoa in this stew…I’m so glad I threw it in on a whim! It really bulked it up.
Dessert was a tablespoon of organic dark chocolate chips and 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil melted in the micro.
Random yet blissful.
Eric and I just got back from a visit to a sports store where I tried on 1 piece swimsuits (for triathlon training) and padded bike shorts. I left feeling like a 7 year old with a diaper issue. Hopefully I have more luck at the next store!
I really need to get used to the idea of wearing a 1 piece swimsuit again. I actually laughed when I tried one on and looked in the mirror. Seven year old or a grown woman, I couldn’t be sure…
Tonight’s question- Do you own a swimsuit and if so, what kind(s) do you rock? 1 piece, bikini, tankini, thong, bikini, speedo…? ;)
Any suggestions for a killer training swimsuit?
Also if you’d like to win a bag of premium chia seeds from Chia Seeds Direct, give me your best tip for SWIMSUIT CONFIDENCE below! Open to Canadian and US residents only please. Contest closes Thursday at 5pm EST.
My best tip for swimsuit confidence is to rock what your mama gave you. No one else has YOUR unique body so go show it off and strut your stuff. Be proud of who you are and how hard you work each day to keep yourself healthy and fit.
On that note, I’m going to pass out on the couch…it has been a long day! Can’t wait to snuggle my man and watch some Marriage Ref (Tom Papa we love u!).
Have a great night. :)

Don’t judge yourself too harshly when you’re trying suits on – or if you can take a bunch home or order online and try them in front of your own mirror with natural lighting, blah blah. And only get it if you truly feel comfortable… sometimes it’s hard to “fake it til you make it” when you’re half naked on the beach. You won’t be able to have fun and enjoy the beach if you’re antsy and self-conscious the whole time!
Hi Angela, best of luck with swimsuit and bike short shopping! I’d recommend giving Swimco or Sport Check a try. Look for one piece Speedo or TYR suits. Nope, they aren’t the most flattering, but they are super comfortable as the straps stay in place while you are swimming. I’d also recommend getting a swim cap. You will have to wear one in the race so it will help to get used to it. Plus it will help to stop your hair from tangling if you only pull it back in a pony tail.
As for bike shorts, if you want to minimize how much equipment you buy, hit up a good triathlon store and pick up a pair of tri shorts. Those have minimal padding in them compared to bike shorts. The idea is to wear your tri shorts throughout the race. The tiny pad won’t soak up a ton of water on the swim, but it will still be fairly comfortable on the bike. Then when you transition to the run you won’t feel like you are running in a big diaper. That way you can train in the same shorts and race in them. You won’t want to be doing major costume changes during the race between each sport, so tri shorts will take you through the entire event! If you have any questions about gear at all, don’t hesitate to ask.
Also, if you find a good tri shop you guys can probably rent wetsuits from them for your race!
Spray tan if you feel pale…and then just to get a cute suit that you love and feel great in!
My best swimsuit confidence tip is to wear what fits you best so that you will be the most comfortable. I am large on top and its hard finding two pieces that fit me well. I can easily try on 10 suits before I find a decent one. This means picking what fits you over what looks cute on the hanger, what you would ideally like to be wearing, etc. Just last week I bought a plain black bikini…and while the color is a little boring for my taste, my boobs look great in it and I know I’ll be comfy and relaxed when I wear it on vacation!
My best swimsuit tip is to figure out what style suit looks best on your body, and then emphasize the assets you love most! I have tiny boobs so I try to find swimsuit tops that add a little oomph. Remember we are all unique and beautiful in our own way :)
Rock what your mama gave you! My best tip for swimsuit confidence is to wear it when you’re doing something you enjoy! Whether that is swimming, volleyball, lounging in the sand with a good book, or giving the old slip and slide a good run (haha remember slip and slides?) I find that if I’m having fun, smiling, and enjoying myself, I feel confident and look great!
Walk around with a straight back and with confidence!
A nice tan always helps!
Wear a fun print rather than hiding in a basic black suit ;) I need to re-stock my chia seeds but would love some for free!
I don’t know about you, but I don’t go to the beach or pool to scrutinize everyone else’s bodies so you can assume that other people aren’t either. Just rmember the person most concerned about how you look in a bathing suit is you. So relax and have a good time!
As for me, I have a speedo one piece for swimming work outs and then also a couple bikini’s and a cute one piece for poolside. I bought the J. Crew one piece this year to bring on vacation with my boyfriend and his family just to have on hand as an alternative should I feel uncomfortable in my more revealing/skimpier bikini’s. One piece’s don’t have to read old lady or 7 year old if you find a cute pattern or cut.
My best advice is to find the swimsuit that looks best ON YOU. Don’t try and wear something that looks good on somebody else because each suit flatters a certain body type. Find the swimsuit that flatters you and then ROCK IT! :)
Swimsuit confidence: 3 deep breaths, a big suck-in of the gut, and a shot or 7 of vodka.
kidding. Flaunt it while you got it, and if you don’t have it…PRETEND!!!!! Summer’s for feelin sassy!!!
My best Advice:
1. Know that every other person there in a swimsuit is feeling like you.
2. Look around… Many Many people who shouldn’t sport itty bitty bikinis are… why not you?!?!
My tip would be to wait to try on your swimsuit until after you’ve had a really good workout. You’ll feel good about yourself, and the image of how you look will stick with you every time you put on the swimsuit from then on.
Remember, everyone else is pretty much naked, so it can’t get any worse than that. So go with the flow! Water is the best.
Find a swimsuit that flatters your best assets or one you feel HOT in… You look best when you feel good about yourself!
It’s definitely a state of mind, but having a cute cover-up to go with it is handy too! I just try to remember that other people are feeling nervous too.
I only wear one pieces. I’ve lost too much weight and am too saggy to wear anything else. I used to never think twice about…. this post sorta made me feel like a giant loser for wearing one, though.
Last summer a few of my girlfriends were hanging out at the beach and we asked a lady to take a photo of us, insisting that it be “just our faces.” The woman was so fun – she told us we are totally ridiculous for wanting to hide our bodies, and that in 15, 25, 50 years we will wish we appreciated how gorgeous we are. She had us posing around the beach like pinup models, haha. I love those pics and try to remember what she told us about how we’ll regret it later if we don’t flaunt it now :)
My best advice is to find a suit that you LOVE and feel comfortable in.
