Rock What Your Mama Gave You

April 21, 2010

Hey there!

Just when I thought I couldn’t be MORE grossed out by public pools you guys have to scare me more! Oh man. It will seriously be like Fear Factor when I stick my toe into that water…

I hope you are having a good Wednesday. :) Today has been a busy one…another training day, orders completed, and lots of business stuff going on. Git er done…!

Lunch consisted of leftovers…

IMG_4736

I simply took my lentil Neat Sauce out of the freezer and it thawed in the fridge overnight.

My fridge has certainly been working for me overnight lately…from Vegan Overnight Oats to de-thawing the next day’s food. ;)

This portion is about 2 cups worth, so I split it into 2 lunches.

IMG_4573

With some discounted organic celery- which might I add, still has a lot of life left in it!

IMG_4728

I actually got up and grabbed the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus for a dip. :) Celery is just…plain on its’ own.

Dessert- Dried organic apricots. One of my all time favourite snacks…

IMG_4742

Dinner was leftovers from last night’s Feelin’ Good Stew. I just love this stew! I was looking forward to it all day.

IMG_4831

I love the addition of the quinoa in this stew…I’m so glad I threw it in on a whim! It really bulked it up.

IMG_4830

Dessert was a tablespoon of organic dark chocolate chips and 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil melted in the micro.

Random yet blissful.

Eric and I just got back from a visit to a sports store where I tried on 1 piece swimsuits (for triathlon training) and padded bike shorts. I left feeling like a 7 year old with a diaper issue. Hopefully I have more luck at the next store!

I really need to get used to the idea of wearing a 1 piece swimsuit again. I actually laughed when I tried one on and looked in the mirror. Seven year old or a grown woman, I couldn’t be sure…

Tonight’s question- Do you own a swimsuit and if so, what kind(s) do you rock? 1 piece, bikini, tankini, thong, bikini, speedo…? ;)

Any suggestions for a killer training swimsuit?

Also if you’d like to win a bag of premium chia seeds from Chia Seeds Direct, give me your best tip for SWIMSUIT CONFIDENCE below! Open to Canadian and US residents only please. Contest closes Thursday at 5pm EST.

My best tip for swimsuit confidence is to rock what your mama gave you. No one else has YOUR unique body so go show it off and strut your stuff. Be proud of who you are and how hard you work each day to keep yourself healthy and fit.

On that note, I’m going to pass out on the couch…it has been a long day! Can’t wait to snuggle my man and watch some Marriage Ref (Tom Papa we love u!).

Have a great night. :)

Just be confident – but also – make sure its not see-through – do a water test before you hit the pool or beach!

for lap swimming i rock a speedo one piece…full coverage so you don’t have to worry about accidentally flashing any fellow swimmers. and my tip is: (staying on the topping of flashing people) is to stay away from white/pale colors in swimsuits! even with lining they can become transparent VERY easily when wet. this is not a good look for anyone!

I definitely believe you just have to get out there, rock it, and not care what others are thinking. Because they are probably so worried about themselves and don’t even notice you.

buy a swim suit that you LOVE! Even if its expensive just go for it because then you’ll be excited to wear it :)

Swimsuit advice: Be confident and don’t even worry about other people. Find a suit that you’re comfortable in and you’re good to go!

hands down just forget about what you look like and focus on having a good time! plus you know everyone else out there is way more concerned with how they look in a bathing suit than how you look!!

I used to spend so much time fiddling with my swimsuit because I was uncomfortable — that just draws more attention to the areas you’re trying to fix or cover! I focus on the areas I love the most — my arms and my legs — and remind myself how good and strong they feel when I’m running into the water (or building sand castles!)

Find the best fit for you!! I am a size small, but always buy my bottoms in medium. They are not too big at all, they actually fit better. i learned this tip awhile ago, I think from The Today Show lol

It’s easy for someone to feel self concious in a swim suit, so I have to agree with you- just rock the suit! If you feel uncomfortable, you will probably be seen that way. Also, just make sure it’s not TOO tight, eek!

My best tip is to be active and stop tugging on the suit! If you don’t care, no one else will and you will look confident and feel confident!

On a side note, I think my one-piece is a tad too short in the torso…it leaves an indent in the groin area:/

I want to enter the contest, but sadly my best tip for swimsuit confidence is just to avoid swimsuits. I can’t remember ever feeling confident in one.

My best tip for swim suit confidence is try, try, and try on again and again until you find a suit that you feel great in. It doesn’t have to be a bikini. If you feel great in a tankini or one-piece, or a cute skirt bottom, that’s fine. Even though the process could be daunting, it’s well worth it to wear something you feel good in. Buy in the size you are now, not what you want to be. Own it!

Swimsuit confidence? It helps to do a couple set of crunches right before or once you’ve got the suit on–instant toning effect! Just make sure you’ve got a suit that fits you properly and you’re comfortable in it, and remind yourself about all the work you’ve done so you *can* flaunt it!

I always wear bikinis.

And my best tip for confidence: rock what you have. Most people feel somewhat self conscious in a bathing suit. So instead of looking at what you consider your “flaws,” they are probably thinking about their own flaws. We think that other people care so much about our bodies, but in reality, WE are the only ones that scrutinize them. So if I feel slightly self conscious, I tell myself I look beautiful, remind myself how strong and healthy my body is, and just go out and enjoy myself!!!

My best tip is to pray for confidence and remind myself that God made me absolutely beautiful! Of course, having my husband close by is always helpful…he never hesitates to tell me he thinks I’m beautiful :)

I say find a suit that makes you feel comfortable – one piece, tankini, bikini, whatever it is – and just STRUT! We work so hard to make our bodies run x amount of KM or bench x amount of pound. Be proud of what our bodies allow us to do and show it off!!

Buy a flattering swim suit- and stand up straight. Slouching really is NOT flattering! :) p.s. I LOVE CHIA SEEDS!!!!!
