‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

…A favorite quote of mine, discovered with some friends in HIgh School when the going got really tough. :)
“THE FOUNDING FATHERS IN THEIR WISDOM DECIDED THAT CHILDREN WERE AN UNATURAL STRAIN ON PARENTS. SO THEY PROVIDED JAILS CALLED SCHOOLS EQUIPPED WITH TORTURE CALLED EDUCATION.”
– JOHN UPDIKE
Hee-hee….:)
“You are exactly where you are supposed to be”. This quote has helped me be grateful for the here and now and all those I have….rather than worrying about the things or people I don’t have in my life.
Ravi Singh and Ana Brett’s Kundalini yoga DVDs have changed my life. I find such peace and tranquility after just one session. As part of our journey, we just need to reach our higher selves. Always care and nourish every part of our life. Working through our personal “demons” per se, we can accomplish so much in this world! Yoga has taught me persistence, love for myself and others, a challenging (!) workout, and hope for a better world. Oh She Glows gives me hope, and I hope none of us will ever stop fighting to live our dreams, fulfill our destiny, and truly be full of love! :)
Would be so so wonderful to win!
My advice to everyone is – you have not only one life to live, but also one body to live it in. Be kind to yourself. Love yourself. Love every opportunity to be happy and healthy.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that what is right for me is not necessarily what is right for my family, friends, or other people I’m surrounded by. It’s hard to remember that when my critical thoughts get in the way but it’s important to keep reminding myself of it. When I allow myself to believe that I don’t compare myself to other people as much and I’m not near as critical. Thank you for your amazing blog, I love following it and it is beyond helpful.

hi girl……..i like your spirit and everyday stories you share with us. thanks.
really really life is nothing but this moment and who/how we are at this present time. last minute is history and next one is yet to come which is also very much depend upon how we experience this moment! so everything changes….everything moves…….everything defines the next thing….so we are not stock………..just our mind need to see it and let go!
We all have our own personal journey with health and weight loss. Over the years I have learned that spending time being consumed with a number on the scale or types of food causes you to miss out on life moments, laughter and memories. Live each day to the fullest instead of opting out of events or nights out due to a fear of “derailing your diet”. Happiness will actually lead you to a balanced healthy long life.
I’ve learned that sometimes all I can do is take one day at a time.

Also…
“Put on your big girl panties and deal with it”. I have to say this one about five times a day!
oh, so many things i’ve learned! but one important lesson i’ve learned is that ‘diets’ are ultimately unsustainable and you need to find a way of consuming food that you can enjoy in the long-term. for me (and, i would wager, for many others) it’s about eating whole (non-processed) foods that make me feel energized and satiated; if i want to ‘cheat’ every once in a while, that’s perfectly fine, but i find that i almost never need to because i feel so well fed eating delicious things like coconut, avocados, nuts, grains- all of it!
First of all, I just have to say that I LOVE your blogs and your recipes. I follow you every day and I think you are amazing. Here is my most favorite quote and it can be applied to all aspects of life…”Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind”
~Dr. Seuss
I love that quote. Good old doctor Seuss.
I have learned that it’s not the number on the scale but the way your body feels and performs. If your clothes are fitting better and you can run longer than you are heading in the right direction despite the scale’s deliberation.
“You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world.”
~ Woodrow Wilson
Take care of your body. If it breaks down you’ll have no where else to live.
Been fun getting to know you through your blogs. Thanks for sharing your story with us – working on getting better about sharing mine!
“Be on time, and do what you say you are going to do” – My Dad
The big thing I’ve learned from the journey is that you may feel the steps or inconsequential and not big enough on the way but looking back later you’ll I see how they all fit together. Personal growth happens when you just keep on pluggin’ away. “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
I learned that you can eat REAL food that is good for your body and make alternatives to food that you normally shouldn’t eat (such as donuts, crap-filled “energy” or snack bars, ice cream) that is healthier and possibly even better. I learned that being skinny doesn’t mean that everyone around you is always going to be happy. There will always be someone who will tell you that you’re too fat, you’re too skinny, you’re too tall, you’re too short, you’re too Asian, etc. I learned that life isn’t going to wait for you so the rest is up to you. I learned to accept the fact that juice fasting, water fasting, and starvation diets really DON’T work, no matter how much you want them to. Basically, I learned to overlook the bad and appreciate the small things in life such as a lettuce plant growing tall and knowing that it’s going to be in your stomach later that night.
Your blog has been very inspirational for me reading it, so I just wanted to thank you. Have a wonderful Wednesday<3 :)
