‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

“There will be a day you can not do this. Today is not that day” – Found on Frayed Laces’ website. So true and so inspirational because you just can not take enough advantage of what you have in this moment! Too often we forget about the things we can do, while we’re focusing on what we can’t.
My fave quote:
“Nothing worth it is easy”
I try and remember this to help me get through…tough workouts, runs…my first hot yoga class yesterday!
I’ve learned that one of the most difficult things to do is to forgive. At times it is difficult to forgive not only yourself, but others. The easiest thing to do is close yourself off and hold a grudge, but by making yourself vulnerable and choosing to forgive, you make yourself a stronger person.
In my journey to find myself and shed the weight, I learned how powerful the human mind can be when setting goals. By giving myself a quick pep talk before the day begins or even before I am about to lift a heavier weight, this positive mind set helps to center and focus my thoughts on the tasks that are ahead.
“Overcoming negative tendencies and enhancing positive potential are the very essence of the spiritual path.” – Dalai Lama.
Happy Tuesday <3
Everything that you need already is in you; the outlook you take and the belief you have in yourself will make you realize your full potential.
I have finally learned to not depend on the scale for happiness! Even after reading messages like it on blogs for over a year and a half, I have recently come to realize that the scale is not important and as long as I’m healthy and fueling my body right, that’s all that matter! I guess what helped me to FINALLY realize this is my first 5k race this saturday! Each day I run and feel my endurance improve is SO rewarding! And its super fun to think of new ways and recipes to continue to fuel my body and improve my endurance! this feeling trumps the scale any day!!
My favorite quote is from Oscar Wilde: “Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.” :)
I’ve learned that enjoying good food in moderation is a win-win — don’t deprive yourself, but don’t stuff yourself. Neither feels good.
A lesson I’ve learned along my own journey is that I can receive 200 back to back compliments and what truly matters is how I feel about myself. It isn’t about a number on a dress tag or scale, it’s about how I FEEL. In an outfit, in my SKIN. How other people feel (in terms of my appearance) really means nothing to me – I’m on this journey for myself. As someone who has been a people pleaser for 28 years, this was huge for me.
Thank you for your comment. I happen to come across this blog from 7/12/11 and it’s now 3/17/2017. That’s a long time ago! I don’t know if you’ll see this or not. Either way, it resonates with me. It’s an ongoing lesson for me to learn and sometimes I get it better than other times.
Thanks for reminding me!
Nancy
Along my journey, I learn to love my imperfections. Cliché, I know :-)
Still, instead of looking for perfection or telling myself that my imperfections were beautiful, I know live with imperfections that defines me and makes me unique and special. Let me give you an example: my legs. There aren’t dainty, long or delicate: they are muscular, short and a bit chubby :)
But because of them, I ran 29 km last saturday, then went on a ride of 45 minutes of bike and then played 1 hour of basketball with little kids. Would a exchange that for some Naomi Campbell legs? Nah ;)
They are imperfect for sure, but they define me and makes me proud. My legs are immortals! Take that, Naomi!
The lesson I have learned is to take baby steps in any life changes you make. When you decide to dramatically change your diet or to start exercising, you should really do this gradually so your body can ease into it.

GAH!! BEST GIVEAWAY EVER!!
I think the most important thing I’ve learned over the years is not to compare myself to anyone else. I am me, for better or worse – and once I realized that I think self-acceptance just came pouring in. Now I look at myself and appreciate all the things that I might have wanted to change before, because they’re a part of me and without them, I would be me :)
I hate to live by something said on Jersey Shore, but recently I’ve been living by “you do you”. Don’t care what other say or do – focus on what you need in this exact moment. Live for that.
My favourite quote came from a fortune cookie and I kept the little slip of paper and tape it just above my laptop screen as a reminder.
“We write our own destiny. We become what we do.”
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.”
One of my fav quotes is from my swim coach – who used to give us a new quote before every swim meet. Best idea ever!
“Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right”
Anything can get in your way of succeeding if you let it. Here is one of my favorite quotes:
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. ~Henry Ford
Having a family (my wonderful husband and two young daughters) has taught me that the most important thing in the world is true love and true love has nothing to do with the number on a scale, a designer handbag, or a good hair day. True love is based on beauty and beauty comes from the inside.
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”
Winnie the Pooh
“There wouldn’t be so many stars in the sky if we were all meant to wish on the same one”. Found on the Happiness Project website earlier this week, but I can’t find it today to give credit! Good thing I wrote it down :)
