‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
Applicable to life in general I’ve always thought:)
One of my favorite quotes is from the Mumford and Sons song “After the Storm.”
“There will come a time, you’ll see
With no more tears.
And love will not break your heart
but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see
what you find there
with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.”
Lately I’ve been struggling in my relationship, both with my boyfriend and with myself, so the line about love not breaking my heart gives me hope. And above all, I wish to be a graceful, beautiful person, and feel graceful and beautiful, and I feel like this song was written for me. I listen to it and I have hope.
A few years back, I felt like I was on top of the world; I was truly happy with everything that was going on in my life. But since then, my life has turned into a country western song, and I’ve lost way too many nights of sleep wondering, “how the heck did this happen?” So I just keep repeating to myself, “Breathe deep, breathe slow, and move forward with one foot in front of the other; no matter how slowly, you will get there.”
one of my fav quotes:
“All I ever wanted in life was to make a difference, be worshipped like a god, conquer the universe, travel the world, meet interesting people, find the missing link, fight the good fight, live for the moment, seize each day, make a fortune, know what really matters, end world hunger, vanquish the dragon, be super popular but too cool to care, be master of my own fate, embrace my destiny, feel as much as I can feel, give too much, and love everything. …Tatsuya says it’s fine if you want to say that this is what you feel, too.” (Tatsuya Ishida)
Until about a month or so ago, I was engaged to be married this August (the end of the engagement was not my choice). This quote helped me to put things in perspective:
“Accept everything about yourself—I mean everything… You are you and that is the beginning and the end – no apologies, no regrets.” – Henry Kissenger
I also love this one:
Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.
– Dalai Lama
life is about the journey not the destination – I try to live this every day and focus on the beauty and love that surround me :)
one more fav quote:
“One of the hardest things to realize is that our someday is right now”
“Stories are for joining the past to the future. Stories are for those late hours in the night when you can’t remember how you got from where you were to where you are. Stories are for eternity, when memory is erased, when there is nothing to remember except the story.”
–Tim O’Brien, The Things They Carried
My most important lessons was that physical health does not always equal mental health- you need to focus on both!
It’s still a journey, but I’m slowly learning not to care about what I think others may perceive of my body.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
I love your blog. What a generous giveaway!
The change I have made is to go back to work part time so I can spend more quality time with my kids and husband. I believe that everything happens for a reason (although there are some tragedies that I have not figured the reason out yet.) When I am worried about something, I try to think of the worst thing that can happen and decide if it’s worth it. Things almost always turn out better than you think they will.
So I love your website first of all … second, I have quote that I stole from someone and it hangs on my mirror every day and it says that “when you die, you will not be remembered for if you could fit into your jeans from highschool, you will be rememebered for being a lady” … keeps me sane when I start to get obsessed.
And today’s veggie burgers, amazing! I have turned on many people to your site!
One of my favourite quotes is from Jeanette Winterson,
“What you risk reveals what you value.”
I have it up in my room to remind me that I am young and I can achieve anything I want to if I put all my heart into it. I’m going through job anxiety, not knowing if I’ll ever find a job I love or really know what I want to do with my life, and this quote helps me put my brave face on and keep my eyes on the horizon for bigger and better things. If you can put it all on the line for something you love, it is worth the risk.
Great quotes everyone!
‘Desires are encouraged by GLEE and reckless abandon’
My favorite quote, though I don’t know who originally said it:
“The glass isn’t half full or half empty – it’s twice as big as it needs to be.”
It always helps me shift my perspective when I start to think negatively about situations I face.
Would LOVE to try a Glo Bar for the first time!!
One of my favorite quotes was given to me by my father in the form of a beautiful necklace/pendant, it reads : “Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony”. by Gandhi
My father gave this to me to celebrate two years of sobriety from many different addictions, including but not limited to food .It’s now been almost 5 years since I received this gift from him and I wear it close to my heart every day.
Thank you Angela for your amazing blog and empowering vision, I am a big fan! I’ve been vegan for almost a year and my health and happiness has never been better.
I started my fitness journey about two years ago. It’s been up and down, but through it all, I’ve learned confidence and am developing my perseverance. A mantra that I developed for myself through this all is: “Yesterday doesn’t matter anymore. Today is a better day. And tomorrow will be even better.”
Do you what you want, not what you think people expect from you.
