‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

One day, on particular long, hot, mentally draining, and hard day at work, while on my break I was washing my hands and I looked up into a mirror. Immediately, I felt this jump of excitement that you get when you unexpected see an old friend and my mind said, “Hey, you know this girl!”. Upon realizing my tired mind’s reaction to my own reflection I started to laugh. But it was this awesome moment when I realized that I really am my own best friend :)
Angela, I hope you don’t mind but I shared the image above in my blog just to show it to my friends (my blog links to Facebook). I attributed the image to you, mentioning your name and adding a click-on link to your blog, so everyone knows I borrowed it from you :D
Please let me know if you would like me to take the image down.
Thank you so much for always sharing with us your sunshine!
It takes the old dog for the hard road, and the pups to snuff the dust.
“You, yourself, as much as anyone in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
This mantra by Buddha has carried me through so much. We can all achieve happiness once we can learn to accept and be happy with ourselves.
My favourite quote “I am not afraid of storms for I am learning to sail my ship” Loisa May Alcott.
Always keeps me going through tough times!
I had never hiked or camped a day in my life, though I have always dreamed of being outdoors, completely free. I decided one day, completely on a whim, to sign up for a three month outdoor leadership course held in Alaska. On one of our first days hiking I began to have a panic attack; I was gasping for breath, with an 80lb. backpack strapped on to me, staring at a mountain we were expected to camp on top of that night. I swore I had made the biggest mistake of my life, I was a fool for thinking I could do this and that I was going to die right there on that mountain. My dream was dying fast. Someone at last saw that tears were streaming down my face and I was gasping for air, but it wasn’t our instructor or the one other female with me. It was Andre, a guy that I had already continually butted heads with. He told me something that seems so simple to everyone I tell it to now. But to me, it was exactly what I needed to hear, It kept me there the whole three months, I had the most amazing experiences of my life and I am now an avid hiker.
He grabbed my shoulders, stared me down and said “Quit worrying about ‘how will you ever get to the end.’ Right now, you only have control over the next five steps. After that, it’s another five steps. The end will come, but only after these next five steps.”
Thinking about my next five steps has helped me continue school when I feel worn out and ridiculous being the oldest person in many of my classes. It helped me stay sane while I was buying a new house, planning a wedding and going through finals week. And it has helped me lose the first fifteen pounds of a 70 pound goal.
(And surprisingly, it was Andre who I cried the hardest about leaving when the course was over.)
“Louisa not Loisa
Exercising and Eating keeps me fit and helps stabilize my mood levels. What I realized is that I don’t exercise and eat clean 100% of the time, but that as long as doing so the majority of the time, then it’s a good balance. Balance is key in everything :)
I like this quote: ‘Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday”
one of my favorite quotes: After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.~aldous huxley
For me this quote always makes me think of introspection and the power of expressing ones self through art.
On another note, YAY glo bars and Yay favorite recipe! I can’t wait. :-D
Great post!! I strongly believe that throughout your life you may follow and believe in different quotes and inspirations. This happens to us based on how we change and the things around us change over years. As a 28year old single woman, I have been inspired lately by the quote, “We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”- Joseph Campbell. http://pinterest.com/pin/61902024/ You may interpret this quote how it relates to you individually, for me I used to think I would be married with kids by now, but I haven’t reached that point in my life yet. I’ve accepted that, and living my current life and dream. ~Lisa
The best lesson I have learned so far in my life is that it isn’t selfish to learn to love yourself before you love others.
“Sometimes you just have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down.” – Kobi Yamada
I’m very hesitant to try new things for fear of being “bad” at them, but I’ve learned to take more risks and just open myself up to more opportunities. I thought this quotation summed it up beautifully, the importance of just launching into something and facing whatever challenges as they come. (And I like to picture myself flying :-D)
I have been a vegetarian for 10+ years but eat eggs and dairy. My biggest learnings so far this year were 1.) Reading Crazy Sexy Diet and understanding why dairy is not ideal for my body (i.e. ph balance) and 2.) Visiting a Farm Sanctuary and understanding why dairy is tougher on animals than I even knew.
I still eat dairy and eggs but am trying very hard to cut back and even made a casserole with soaked nuts instead of cheese this past weekend!
A lesson I’ve learned it to be my own person! Everyday should have personal victories and if not it’s another day to set new ones!
Ps. Love all the positive energy on this site ; )
The greatest achievement in life is not measured by a large salary or reputable label, but by finding happiness in ourselves and reflecting joy to those who surround us everyday.
I have learned that just because my house is not perfectly clean, does not mean I’m not the best Mum and wife :)
I’ve learned that calories don’t mean as much as nutrition.
I used to think that peanut butter, avocados, and other things were “bad” because they had lots of calories. How wrong! I now eat foods like these regularly for 1) I like them for 2) they make me feel good and for 3) they satisfy me!
My personal everyday philosophy is based on three things: perseverance, determination and fortitude. It’s what keeps me on track with my goals and reminds me to never dwell too long if at all on the past.
Nevertheless, my favourite quote is
“Ability is what you are capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you do.
Attitude determines how well you do it. “ –Lou Holtz
You should never underestimate the power of positive thinking :)
This was given to me on a bookmark years and years ago. I have it taped to my door:
Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.
