‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.

My Papou always told me that “worrying doesn’t add another day to your life.” He has been gone for over a decade, but his quote continues to be my everyday reminder not to take life too seriously. (:
Here’s one of my favorites! “So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth to regain their health.” A J Reb Materi
Love your blog!
I’ve learn to not take everything so seriously.
My dad tried to teach me that over 10 yrs
Ago. I’m just learning how to Now…
Resilience is more important than toughness.
I’m learning how to slow down a bit. I’m also epically failing at it, but I am still trying to get better at slowing down, breathing and letting the stress go.
Thanks Angela for the chance!
A lesson I’ve learned is that I shouldn’t be so hard on myself. I tend to want to push myself too hard, whether it be eating healthy, exercising or work – I then end up being less productive b/c I am wiped out or start focusing on how I didn’t finish all of my goals exactly or what not.
But now I don’t feel bad missing a work out once and a while because my body needs some rest or if I eat a few too many cookies than I needed to. No sense in beating yourself up, but rather figure out why you’re feeling guilty about something and take note to help change it in the future.
“Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh
I have learned that I have endless strength and my body had potential beyond what my mind tells me I can. I have lost 20 lbs and run 3 half marathons, all because I told myself I could. My kids are now following my lead and running as well as eating healthy. Life is short, but life is oh so good!!!

Hi Angela! Love your website and all of your recipes! I’m also glad you’re spreading a positive message about body relationship. This is my favorite quotation and always puts my head in the right place.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” (Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles”)
I have this quote posted on my laptop. “Do what you can, With what you have, Where you are”
thanks for doing this giveaway Angela
Matthew 6:34: Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
I started doing CrossFit after I had my daughter. It totally transformed my view of “fitness”. Now, I care about being strong, not skinny (although I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been). The only numbers I chase are improving my time for the workouts, and increasing the weight I use in the workouts. It is totally freeing. I highly recommend it.
I’ve learned that the only thing I can control is how I handle situations. i can choose to be negative or I can choose to be positive. I like being positive :)
Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else. ~Judy Garland
“As a lover of all things certain, I wanted faith to work like an epidural; to numb the pain of vulnerability. As it turned out, my faith ended up being more like a midwife – a nurturing partner who leans into the discomfort with me and whispers “push” and “breathe.” ” – Brene Brown
you are with yourself more than any other person or being….. might as well love her.
One lesson I’ve learned on my journey so far is that nothing can be about being perfect- it’s about making progress. I guess this is more of a revelation to something that seems so common sense rather than a lesson, but I think it’s really valuable! There will be days, weeks or even months where you keep getting off track or not feeling like you’re succeeding. Especially when it comes to the scale!!! Some weeks that number that’s staring back at your might not be indicative of all of your hard work… but that’s ok! It’s about realizing that you’re trying to make a life change and how much progress you’ve made on that that really matters :)
Lately I’ve been into the quote “Getting lost will help you find yourself.” It helps me to remember that life is a crazy journey that can’t always be planned!
Recently, I’ve been learning that with knowledge comes power. Power to change myself for the better, to help change the world around me for the better and to bring that knowledge to others. Also, that I must stay true to myself and not stray from the path that I have dedicated myself to just because others think less of it.
Thank you for this opportunity!
If you believe, you will achieve.
That was a favorite of mine when I was younger, and something I WANT to believe, but I find very hard to believe when I am down. I need to start reminding myself of it again, because everything is better when you think positively.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14
I LOVE this verse!
