‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

My favorite quote that hangs above my desk is: “You can do anything, but not everything.” As modern women I think we need to remind ourselves that we don’t have to do it all all of the time. Not only that, but we shouldn’t try to do everything because then we miss out on truly savoring the moment, giving our all to a task, or enjoying quality time with loved ones.
“The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now.”
It’s never too late to start (or stop) doing anything you set your mind to!
I love your blog and your message of healthy eating for a better life. My life-lesson is that I am worth it. It’s hard to keep up the positive thoughts when you’re struggling with your weight. I have to remind myself daily that I am a beautiful person no matter what weight I am. I’ve lost about twenty pounds since February, but recently gained back five… But I know that this is not a quick fix. It’s a lifetime journey. And no matter what weight I am as long as I know I am worth it, I will continue on my journey not only to a smaller weight but a healthier life altogether.
“If you want to lead an orchestra, you must turn your back on the crowd.”
One of the things I have learned it I guess realized is to never give up. Sounds cheesy I know but if I give up on my goal, no one else is going to pick it up for me. So if somethings takes too long I continue to stick it out till the end!
My mantra/quote for 2011 is – You are everything that is – your thoughts, your life, your dreams come true. You are everything you choose to be. You are as unlimited as the endless universe.” – Shad Helmstetter.
Love this giveaway opportunity! Thank you!

Biggest lesson to learn is if you do not put the effort in, you will not get anything in return.
I recently learned just how much restricting certain foods make you go crazy. I restricted carbs, nuts, and fruit (yes fruit!) so that I was just eating veggies and veggie proteins to lose weight. I found myself binging on veggies and the veggie proteins because I couldn’t have anything else! It was very weird. I was unhappy, my workouts became less efficient, I was constantly yelling at people, and my world was seemingly becoming more and more tiring and frustrating. When I brought all of those aspects back into my life, I found that I was SO Much happier and my workouts are back to how they used to be :)
One of my realizations:
Food is information. When we eat, we send our body messages. I want to send mine messages of healing and love :)
Your blog provides inspiration to do so
This is a quote I have pinned up on my bedroom wall and I look at every morning when I wake up (its also next to the quote from Steve Jobs which I found on your blog ;) .. it really puts into perspective as to how we should be living:
Life is all about choices…
every breath is a choice,
every action and word.
its choice, not chance that determines your destiny.
what is the best choice for you at this moment?
Wow, all of these comments are so awesome! I’ll have to bookmark this for when I need some inspiration.
One of the things I’ve learned is that happiness starts from within. I used to try to change myself to please others and get the ideal body because I thought then I’d be well-liked and happy. Looking perfect and happy is not the same as actually feeling that way, especially when I was using the wrong approach to look that way. Now I realize you can’t please everyone, so you should be true to yourself. I found that by doing this, I am less anxious, healthier and feel better, which leads to a more positive outlook. It turns out the people I want to surround myself with accept me for who I am, just as I accept them.
“You can do what you have to do, and sometimes you can do it even better than you think you can.” -Jimmy Carter
As an athlete this quote really resonates with me and I try to think about this before every race:
“There must be a persistent focus on doing the work and mastering the task at hand rather than the dream of winning. Results can never be controlled—only your effort and level of skill can. If you build your fitness to the highest possible level, pace your race well and make sure you are completely spent at the finish line, feeling certain there was no way you could have run an extra inch—you have reached the limit of your potential that day and whatever results you get, you should be proud of.” – Torbjorn Sindballe
“Doubt kills” is a quote that’s been passed along to me recently and while it really can apply to any situation we may face in life, I find that it has special meaning for living a healthy lifestyle.
Doubting anything — your self worth, appearance, exercise/fitness prowess, your ability to stop counting calories and eat intuitively, etc…can be downright destructive.
I have learned to stop doubting and to trust the process of truly living healthily…and this has made me realize that no matter what, everything will always be A-OK ;)
One of the powerful emotions of the heart is gratitude. As soon as your heart is touched, it is softened….and a softened heart is grateful. Experience how the heart approaches life; it is profoundly grateful for all that is offered. The heart never complains; complaints come from the mind when its expectations are not met. The heart that is open accepts all that is given and gives all it contains.

ps – I DO go a “little” crazy if I look at a scale . . . . so, I really like the picture you have of your list of reminders about what weight is NOT laying on top of your scale :-)
My two favorites…

Do what you can…
With what you have…
Where you are…
um, I would LOVE some Glo bars in my life. ooh. hit me! :)
one of my favorite quotes? “you gain courage, strength, and confidence every time you stop to look fear in the face. do the thing you think you cannot do.” -eleanor roosevelt was one smart lady. ;)
and that picture is awesome. I want to make it my desktop background.
No one looks at you and knows how much you way.
Life is all in how you react to it. It’s been a tough but helpful lesson in helping me deal with the loss of my seven-year relationship.
