‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

I love this quote and have it painted on my hallway wall: “Enjoy this moment, for this moment is your life.”
Learning to love yourself just the way you are, not as a comparison, helps make the journey that much easier! Believing in yourself helps you reach any goal that much quicker, and happier.
I’ve found that no matter how good you believe you are and how hard you try to do the right thing, there is always someone that will not like you. More recently, someone taught me that if someone dislikes me, it’s none of my business, it’s theirs alone. I don’t have to know why they feel the way they do, I don’t have to react to them, or even respond. It’s my right to avoid toxic people and only associate with people with healthy attitudes. Just do the next right thing and don’t apologize for it.
What a great post! I have a few favorite quotes: “Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can come together.” “The world will never suffer for lack of wonders, but simply for lack of wonder.” “It’s the silence between the notes that makes the music.” “Never let your failures go to your heart or your successes go to your head.”
I was 32 when I started cooking; up until then, I just ate. ~Julia Child~
In 2005 I started on Weight Watchers, I lost 105lbs and was 10 lbs away from my goal weight! The thing is, while it was amazing that I achieved such a great thing, I was obsessed with numbers. Calories, points, weight etc. To the point where I’d want to throw up if I ate some chocolate because I felt so bad.
From 2007 through today I’ve gained back 15 lbs and haven’t reached my goal yet. I still know that one day I’ll get there and I’m working toward it but I realized that I have to be able to live my life. I can’t be ruled by these numbers! If I want some chocolate I can have it! Everything in moderation.
Even though I’m not at my ideal weight and up from my lowest weight, I know that I have a healthier mind set and that I’m more in shape physically than I used to be.
One quote that always gets me is one I heard Jillian Micheals day on the Biggest Loser a few years ago. “Look forward with hope, as opposed to back with regret.” It really hit home for me as I would get so stuck on looking back on what I could have done, when I really need to be focusing on the present and how I will achieve my goals. :)
p.s. I love that scale pic and love sharing it with people.
Hi Angela! I can completely empathize with your struggles–so many of us can. My favorite quotes is from Bill Cosby: “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.” Thanks for the opportunity to share it!!
Happiness depends upon ourselves- Aristotle I believe…
Oh and this one:
“Wisdom is knowing I am nothing,
Love is knowing I am everything,
and between the two… my life moves.”
-Nisargadatta Maharaj
Your blog inspires me everyday Ange. Thanks:)
I found a new quote recently that I love because I myself am very artistic, “Be an artist, re-create your body”.
It just sits well with me, because it reminds me that I am not trying to get super skinny or whatever, but that I am re-creating my body to be fit and healthy and be the body it is meant to be. :-) Thanks for these recent posts, they are really helping me as I’m going through a really tough time lately which has been re-stirring up some issues.
“If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together…there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – Winnie the Pooh
I’ve learned that the most important thing is to realize that it’s okay to accept yourself, even if you’re not ‘perfect’.
“It’s never a question of can you, but will you?”
This quote motivates me to workout when I feel like I can’t do anything after a long day of work. But I tell myself to do it for the sake of relieving stress and before I know it, I’m actually enjoying getting shweaty at 9 pm!
“You are stronger than you think”
:)
“Everyone wants a revolution, but no one wants to do the dishes”
I love of all of the great quotes and mantras! One of my favourites right now is:
“You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction”- George Horace Lorimer
I am learning that food is FUEL. I used to worry so much about calories, then sugar, then carbs but now I’m focusing on just eating what makes me feel good. Whole, real foods and lots of veggies! I would LOVE to win some glo bars!
“Success is the sum of small efforts”
I remind myself every single day that each little bit counts towards my goal of running a half-marathon by September, as well as leading a healthy lifestyle by eating delicious whole foods!
Favorite quote: “Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”
Not sure if this is really a “lesson learned,” but this blog is truly amazing! Fighting through your fears, struggles, sharing recipes, laughs, etc. has helped more people than you will ever know. Keep it up!! **hugs**
I’m learning that who I am is not defined by what I weigh. A hard lesson indeed!
My favorite quote that hangs above my desk is: “You can do anything, but not everything.” As modern women I think we need to remind ourselves that we don’t have to do it all all of the time. Not only that, but we shouldn’t try to do everything because then we miss out on truly savoring the moment, giving our all to a task, or enjoying quality time with loved ones.
