Glo Bar Giveaway!

July 12, 2011

‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’

I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!

Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.

I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.

While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!

My favorite quote, and what I tell myself with each and every workout is: “Pain is Temporary, Quitting Lasts a Lifetime.”

“Never let go of hope. One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself… ‘How did I get through all of that?”

“You are amazing grace. You are a precious jewel. You- special, miraculous, unrepeatable, fragile, fearful, tender, lost, sparkling ruby emerald jewel rainbow splendor person.”
-Joan Baez

Someone shared this with me when I was in a particularly low time about 5 years ago. I kept it, and now have it framed. It sits next to my mirror that I look in every morning when I get dressed. It reminds me that I am not only unique but goes a long way in inspiring me to be kind to myself and to others. Despite flaws that you might see in yourself or the struggles you encounter, try not to forget the good things that make you ‘you’! Embrace your vulnerability. Once you possess self-love and awareness, you can do anything!

“Starving is not sexy. It is bleeding gums, acrid breath, brittle bones, osteoporosis, infertility, and complication. It saps and withers. Sexy is is inherent in a healthy appreciation for food, in having the energy to romp with your beloved, pick up your baby, cook dinner for your friends, go for a run or simply take a gentle walk to the market. Sexy is in feeling sated, having options and feeling alive.”
– Sophie Dahl, Mrs. Dahl’s Voluptuous Delights

(thanks to Caitlin @ Healthy Tipping Point for sharing the full version of that quote – I love it, and it can be applied to everything including one’s self)

I’ve learned to not be so hard on myself. I can’t do everything, sometimes I need to take a break and relax, and that’s okay! Now I’m comfortable just doing my best, and my new goal in life is to be happy

I have learned to listen to my body better the last four years. I still ignore it more than I should but at least I know when I am ignoring it ;)

“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles, and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful.” -Mark Victor Hansen

2, from two idols.

“There is more to sex appeal than just measurements. I don’t need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal, picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain.”
Audrey Hepburn

“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”
Marilyn Monroe

I lost about 40 pounds after a breakup (and reaching my heaviest) a couple of years ago. While I’m still not completely happy with the way I look, I am sooooo appreciative now of what my body can do and what it does for me every day. This non-perfect body has run races – the most recent being a marathon in Rome – but it also keeps up with me on the daily grind. I will try to take care of my body for as long as I have it.

“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it turned into a butterfly.”

Love this quote. First time I read it, I cried. It’s crazy how powerful words can be and how phrases can touch you so deeply.
