‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.

one of the quotes i love: “Don’t depend too much on anyone in this world because even your own shadow leaves you when you are in darkness.”
“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice your gift” – Steve Prefontaine – If only we could all run as fast as him!
The day I stopped weighing myself… It was as if the weight on my shoulders were lifted :) I had more time to focus on the important things in life. Not just a number!
Angela, you were made for more than this. You were made to do great things and to show great love! You are a blessing to so many and when you’re feeling down, please remember all these beautiful sentiments that people are posting! They’re here in this place, this space because of you and all you have to offer. Your life is precious and so are you! ((((HUGS)))) ~ Molly
After suffering from Anorexia and depression for seven years, psychological and psychiatric therapy has helped me realize that to be happy and to finally start LIVING my life, I must learn to love myself, embrace my body, and value the qualities that distinguish me. A few months ago I stopped weighing myself, counting calories, comparing myself to popular fashion models and movie stars, and denigrating my beauty. My physique is only one small component of who I am. There is much more of me to offer to this world.
Angela, I love your blog, your recipes, and especially your approach to life. I find your blog posts extremely inspirational!!!
Thank you.
One of my favourite quotes, which I’m trying to live by is “follow your passion, follow your heart, and the things you need will come.” Love it!

I learned to make one healthy choice at a time.. Make one bad one? That’s ok, move on!
Great post Angela – I continue to battle with the scale, but one thing I try to remind myself whenever I go near it is that I won’t be any happier if the number is lower than if the number is higher, I will just have an excuse for why I am not living my life. Instead, I try to find ways to enjoy life, and enjoy food for its flavours and textures, instead of something to give me pain or fill a void.
Keep blogging! I love reading your thoughts!
Along my journey, I’ve learned how lucky I am to have great family and friends standing by me the whole way. I’m still dealing with issues regarding my medical life and how I view myself and they are always there for me when I need them.
“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” – Tolstoy
I’ve learned that giving up some of my favorite foods and working out twice is a day is NOT worth the 5 lbs it helps me keep off. I want to LIVE and be able to eat cookies and not obsess about calorie burns. Last year, I was at my lowest weight, but my obsession with calorie counting and workouts exhausted me. Now I know better.
What a sweet gesture of you Angela!! This is one of my fave passages from the Bible, and it just reminds me how confident we should be in God’s love: “I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it very well….” ~Psalm 139:14~ :D
My favourite quote that I try to remember and live by is:
“the key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.”
Helps me put my life into perspective and reminds me not to sweat the small things, but to be happy with who I am – perfectly imperfect :)
This too shall pass.
I know this phrase is old, and quite often overused, but it has so much meaning to me. I put little strips of paper with this written on it all over my house, the office, the fridge, my purse, everywhere. It helps remind me to both appreciate what I have and gives me strength to endure any trouble I’m going through.
I’ve grown to acknowledge my body’s true cravings, and by no means are all my cravings the healthiest choices. But if I’m craving a cookie or cupcake, I will have one and love every single bite! A treat is not very enjoyable if you feel guilty the entire time :)
I’ve learned to NOT weigh myself. The whole numbers game is not a fun one to play, I weighed myself once this summer for the first time in 8 months (since gaining some good weight) and instantly became obsessed and regretful. I’ve stopped since then and even refused to get weighed at the doctor’s a few weeks ago. I feel awesome!
Feel good about yourself and enjoy every nuance of life!
Something I need to work on but truly believe in.
One of my favorite quotes is: Women are like teabags. We don’t know our true strength until we are in hot water! -Eleanor Roosevelt
“To be nobody but yourself in a world that’s doing its best to make you somebody else, is to fight the hardest battle you are ever going to fight. Never stop fighting.”~ E.E. Cummings
Everything happens for a reason. No better way to describe how life goes :)
