‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

I’ve just learned to deal with stressful situations in different ways. Instead of looking at food as a reward for good grades or for seeking happiness, I now get out of the house and go to the gym or just relax by the pool. I’ve always struggled with my weight and keeping a positive self image and if I don’t go overboard, I won’t give myself a reason to feel bad later. Prevention is my key!
“A ship is safe in harbor,
but that’s not what ships are for.”
-William Shedd
That quote really struck a cord with me. I can play it safe, not venturing from my comfort zone, but that’s not what life is for, not what I’m meant for. I’m not striving to live a full life, not just a “safe” one.
Most of the shadows of life are caused by standing in our own sunshine.
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
I’ve learned that you will never make everybody happy. So focus on your own happiness and hopefully it will rub off on others around you!

“Smooth sailing does not make skillful sailors.” Chanting this to myself has made many “bad” days bearable. :)
My favorite quote is “Give life your best… you’ll never regret it!”
I learned this quote in one of my first hot yoga classes and it has stuck with me since: “It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power” – Alan Cohen

“Too many people miss the silver lining because they’re expecting gold.”
Love everyone! There is always something in a person that is loveable!
Working with cancer patients I have found yoga to be my “go to” place of serenity. I cannot change the fact that my patient has cancer, I try to make sure that they are not in pain and that they are comfortable. As you mentioned in your recent posts, worrying about the future, about anything, is so difficult to avoid. My patients teach me to be present and to be in tune with myself and with the emotions of others. Above all, a quote from one of my yoga teachers, is that “nothing is worth more than this day, today.” I try to remember that, and walk into each exam room with a smile and a light heart for whatever this day offers for each of us, it would be a shame to spend it worrying about tomorrow.
A lesson I’ve learned along the way is that no one knows you better than yourself.
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” Dolly Parton I also love Be-YOU-tiful. :)
Everyday is a new day. Just because you went off track yesterday does not mean you will today.
Best lesson I have learned so far
This is one of my favorites:
Life has no smooth road for any of us; and in the bracing atmosphere of a high aim the very roughness stimulates the climber to steadier steps, till the legend, over steep ways to the stars, fulfills itself.
W. C. Doane
Today I am 32 and one day. I started off my new year with a run and know that the best thing I can do is take my health and fitness progress one day at a time. The best advice I have received is to take everything one day at a time and learn from setbacks and errors. Thanks for the great blog!
One thing I’ve learned (which has sort of become my life motto) is “everything for a reason.” I may not know what that reason is, but it’s there.
When you shine brightly, know that it is due to permanent personality traits that will never leave you. And know that a moment of weakness is the result of temporary qualities that will vanish when not allowed to linger.
Thanks for teaching me to love myself! xo
I got a tattoo of my favorite quote as a daily reminder!
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
-Emerson
Breath. It is the key to everything!
