‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

“be the person your dog thinks you are” that’s always hit home for me :D
Last Jan. 2010, I was diagnosed with a rare health condition called POTS Syndrome. I lost my fabulous career in medical sales for Abbott Laboratories, an even more fabulous salary, company car…my ability to jog along Chicago lakeshore and my ability to workout entirely. Along with all I lost, my self worth followed…until now. I am now struggling with a 30 pound weight gain due to the inability to increase my functionality. I have to believe God has a purpose in my trial and I realize that my self worth needs to be fed back into me – because it doesn’t come from a job or money. I read your blog every single day and it’s something I so look forward to. You give me hope and inspire me to live my best life. My fav. quote is ‘If you cannot put your heart into it….then take yourself out of it’. I do not know who wrote that but I never forgot it. Kelly O’Brien
A day is incomplete without laughter
“The shortest distance between two people is a story.”
“There’s always tomorrow.”
My favorite quote so far on my journey has to do with my attitude towards the journey itself:
“make the most of what comes and the least of what goes”
I’ve learned to take each day moment by moment.
Having lost 65 pounds in a year and having maintained that loss for
16 months, I realize each day consists of moments — opportunites to
make healthy or unhealthy choices. Do the best with each moment and
don’t beat yourself up over an unhealthy decision…Get on target with
the next one…those moments make days, days make weeks…months…years
and your life is what it all adds up to.

For me, it’s cliched, but remembering that I’m only human and then taking delight in things like a dog licking me or a cat purring on my lap, and celebrating the real triumphs in my life (seeing an animal get adopted because of you is a better feeling than any weight).
I have learned to breathe…. what an awesome skill to have!
“Getting my lifelong weight struggle under control has come from a process of treating myself as well as I treat others in every way.”
-Oprah Winfrey, O Magazine, August 2004
I am always encouraged through different verses and quotes. Two of my favorite quotes right now are:
“If you can’t see the ultimate, you will become a slave to your immediate.”
“Children grow involuntarily, adults grow through intentional, focused efforts.”
Something I have learned is that healthy is not a number, but instead a lifestyle. I choose to live with that mindset, filling my body with nutrient-rich, fresh foods and practicing yoga religiously. Healthy is about sharing the compassion I show for others with myself.
One lesson I’ve learned recently is that just because I’m feeling down or because negative thoughts are entering my mind doesn’t mean I have to let it take over. I can recognize the feeling or thought, name it (“I’m feeling upset about…”), and let it pass rather than going deeper into it. I’m still learning how to deal with anxiety, but that has been the point that has resonated most with me. I have a choice to feel happy and let negativity go.
YUM! A glo bar giveaway – I’ve always wanted to try your glo bars! Something I’ve learned is to not be so hard on myself. AND here is my favourite quote: “Whatever your mind can conceive and can believe, you can achieve.”
I just watched an Oprah and she said: Forgivness is, giving up the hope that the past could have been any different.
Angela, the picture is beautiful.
One of my favourite quotes:
“When the door of happiness closes, another opens but often time we look so long at the closed door that we don’t see the one which has been opened for us.” – Anonymous
“Forgive and forget” There would be so much more peace if we could all live by this motto.
My favorite quotes are: “Live the life you have imagined” & “Be the change you wish to see in the world”
