Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

I am still pretty young, but here’s to my teen self!: Remember to be proud of who you are. Be proud of your lifestyle and your opinions and don’t ever judge others for living differently than you do. You don’t know their circumstances any more than they know yours!
I also shared your “Rolo” knock offs which I just made. Delicious! So simple and so perfect!!! Thank You!
My best piece of advice would be to keep a journal daily. Write down one thing that makes you happy and one one goalvto work toward reaching the next day. It is fun to look back tovsee how one grows!
Also tweeted! What a fantastic giveaway!!!!
I would tell myself: try everything and don’t let fear of looking like a fool stop me from growing!
I also tweeted the giveaway!
As cliché as it sounds, I would tell myself to be more confident (and to wear more sunscreen!!).
I tweeted it :). Dying to win!!
i would tell my younger self to not be so eager to leave home and friends for college, and to get help with depression when it first begins. four years later, you are absolutely dying to return home, but you are completely alone and have nothing
Dear Heather, you will have your heart broken one day. It will be bad. You’ll feel completely lost. It will take you a while to heal. But you will grow SO much during that time…transforming into a woman who not only knows what she wants in life, but how to go about getting it. Just remember…keep your head up…what doesn’t kill you WILL make you stronger!
Just tweeted! @kissmybroccoli
This may seem silly, but I would tell my younger self to say “yes” more often. In highschool and college, I would often say no to going out because I was worried about studying enough or getting to bed on time. Most of these times I didn’t end up getting much done with that time anyways, and would likely have had a great time being with my friends without loosing much in the way of studying or sleep. Although I can’t change my decisions then, I know going into the future that I should say “yes” to new experiences and having fun with friends more often, and that not working 24/7 is okay :)
I just tweeted about the giveaway!
I would tell my younger self not to worry about what other people think and do what feels right. I would also tell my younger self that blue hair and a micro mini don’t instill trust in your mom when you’re asking for permission to go to that amazing party!
I tweeted about the giveaway!
I would tell myself that life’s great opportunities can’t be planned, you just have to work hard so that you’re prepared when everything falls into place!
I tweeted this giveaway, congrats on the past 4 years Angie!
Id say to ASK if you want something. Be confident to go after what you want.
