Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!
About the Twister Jar: “Blendtec’s newest innovation, the Twister Jar, is designed to blend your thickest recipes such as: Nut Butters, Hummus, Baby Food, Dips, Thick Shakes, Dressings and more! Best of all, it’s compatible with all Blendtec Home Blenders.”

I would tell myself to be honest always. The truth will set you free. Be proud of who you are. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE one of these! Thank you!
I would tell my younger self to follow her heart, that although confusing, frustrating and scary, will not lead her astray:)
I pinned your recipe for vegan “rolo” knock-offs. My advice to my younger self would be to not let the fear of making mistakes stop you from doing anything :)
I’m a month in to a vegan diet and your blog is fantastic, so many recipes I’m excited to try and fingers crossed with a new fabulous blender!
I would tell my younger self to relax and not worry about what the future was going to hold. Nothing ever happens when you think it will, but it all happens at the right time.
I would definitely tell my self to worry less — those things I wasted a lot of time and emotion on are unimportant, distant memories now (mostly).
I just pinned your vegan pumpkin pie 3 ways post. Planning on trying at least one of them this weekend in preparation for the American Thanksgiving feast
I would tell myself to relax, enjoy life, and have faith. Congrats Angela, your website is amazing!
Dear younger me: read the Word more, waste time on MySpace less, and go with your best friend to prom, not the group of “cool” kids that rented a party bus with a creepy bus driver and sticky floors – trust me.
My advice would be: Everything will work out. God has a plan =)
Hmm, that’s a hard question!
I’d probably tell myself not to be so jealous and envious of people I thought were prettier, thinner, smarter, etc, etc, and just be happier & content with myself. So basically not wish that I were someone else all the time.
I would tell my younger self. Slow down don’t rush through life. Slow down!
I would tell myself to stick with my real friends – I knew who they were, but still wanted to fit in with a more “popular” crowd. If I had realized this a bit earlier I could have had more fun spending time with people I actually had things in common with! Oh and even though my parents always said I had to eat meat to stay healthy (even though I always loved animals and disliked meat), I should have done my research to prove them wrong earlier, instead of waiting until I was 15 or 16. If you have a gut feeling something is wrong, it probably is! And I should have found this blog sooner, I missed out on 6 years of delicious veg recipes!
I would tell myself to focus on school and not boys! Especially boys who aren’t worth your time…
what a fantastic giveaway!
I would tell my younger self to not worry so much about what others think, and to just live life and love doing it.
I would tell myself to “go for it” when certain opportunities appeared! :)
I would have told myself not to be in such a hurry to grow up. And, to stay in 1 place a bit longer. I have moved so many times, and lived many incredible places, but I have never really stayed long enough to make any place feel like home.
I would tell my younger self that everything is going to be ok. and not to grow up so fast.
I pinned a recipe:)
I’d tell my younger self to smile more, even if it makes other people think you’re weird. :)
Repinned Roasted Butternut Squash with Kale and Pecan Parmesan. This one is right up there with the roasted butternut squash burrito filling, which I make to top salads and rice almost weekly since first trying 6 months ago :)
