Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

Dear 16 year old self, you are beautiful and for the rest of your life you will yearn to have the body you have now. Enjoy what it can do! xoxo
plain and simple: really follow your heart (and make decision for yourself).
Just relax. Things really will work themselves out.
Life is what you make it out to be. Question everything, love everyone… including yourself :)
I would love to win this Blendtec! I neeeeed it so badly! I would tell my younger self, “Listen to your mother. Remember that boy you dated for 3 years too long, and that your mom told you to break up with before you went to college? Yes, you should have done that!”
I tweeted the contest!
If I could give my younger self any advice (my 18 year-old self, specifically), it would be this: Do what drives you personally, and not what others would hope of you. You don’t need to be afraid of the future that is college, as long as you enter in a field you honestly enjoy.
Oh, and never ever take out private student loans.
I would tell my younger self not to worry so much if that boy likes you and figure out if you actually like him. Love the blog Angela, my friends/family know that when I say “I made a recipe from my favorite blog…” I’m talking about your site!
Tweet sent. https://twitter.com/concreteplains/status/263849780097200128
Jo, stop trying to convince yourself you aren’t tall. You’re tall, will always be tall, and one day you’ll find a boy who loves you for your height.
I would tell my younger self to not worry about the future so much. Only worry about the present, as the future will take care of its self! :)
I would tell myself that I should love myself first before looking for love from the opposite sex. With a sense of self, you make decisions that are good for you.
Oh Angela ther is so much. Here it goes… Holly don’t smoke, ever! Stop eating fast food, it will make you fat. Eat what mom eats and you will be happier and a size 6. Oh and stop going to the bar with the boys. Yes, the drinks are free , just say no. Keep playing soccer and run like the wind. When you are 40 you will be a happy, healthy and have no regrets.
Long time lurker and first commenter here…
I’d tell my 16 year old self (granted, that was only 3 years ago!) to not stress so much about school!
Thanks for doing the giveaway, Angela!!
I would tell myself to just chill out-stress and worry were such a waste of time.
I would tell myself not to take every word anyone says literally, enjoy the smaller things and appreciate the world around you, instead of pointing out what was wrong with it.
I Pinned your Twix recipe (which I made on the weekend) LOVE them, and love the blog. Congrats on 4 years!
Don’t spend so much time worrying. It’s not worth it. Enjoy today.
I would tell my younger self to stop wishing time away. To appreciate every moment and the time you get to spend with your loved ones.
