Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

I would tell myself to not b afraid of failing. I think that was the major contributor to my shyness.
I would tell my younger self to do more self reflection, decide what I really want in my life and allow the Universe to deliver.

I just Pinned your Bailey’s recipe. It looks so good. Thank you Angela for the great recipes, exercise ideas and now a Blendtec.
Re-pinned your Walnut Loaf recipe! I find myself Pinning your recipes before I even realize they are yours :) I’m always drawn to your recipes, you photograph the food so well and it always turns out so great!
I would tell my younger self not to worry so much over the little things. In the end everything always works out and I don’t regret anything. All of the worrying seems so pointless now that I look back. Also, this is a great giveaway I am thinking of moving out soon and will need a lot of kitchen appliances!
First of all I LOVE your advice to yourself. Seriously though, how the heck do moms do that? They know before we do sometimes!
Ok so my advice would be to not let other’s fears drag me down. To be more persistent and find a way to follow my dreams even if it pissed the people closest to me off. It took me a LONG time to do this and I still struggle with it but man oh man…its also paid off tremendously.
xo
I tweeted re: the giveaway. Now pick me please?! It would save my momma a lot of money on my Xmas gift!
Life is short and fast. Live well, love well, eat well, and enjoy every moment.
Congrats on being a working woman at 16…start saving your money now. Smart strong women know how to take care of themselves from day 1, and if you save part of every check starting now, you’ll be well off when you’re 70.
Okay, new shoes are fine once in awhile. :)
Don’t worry about how other people feel about you because it’s none of your business.
Don’t follow others, be a leader and pave your own way!
I love these giveaways!
thanks for the chance to win a blender… :D
I would tell my 16 yr old self that it’s ok… Some relationships don’t work out because there’s a lesson to be learned from them, not because there is anything more sinister going on. let it go, everything will work out.

I would tell myself not to worry what other people think. It really doesn’t matter as long as you love yourself.
The one thing that I really wish I could tell my younger self is to apply to post secondary school right after graduation. Every year it seems to get further and further away from me. It seems so far in the past that I would be starting from scratch again. I really, really, regret not starting my education right away. I’d really like my diploma to be based in holistic nutrition. I’d love a great blender that could handle all my nut butters and homemade flours!
Thanks for the give away! I would love to own a Blendtec!
I would advise my younger self to start each day with a green machine smoothie…you feel amazing and will fall in love with it so fast:)
I would tell myself to take more time to relax and do the things you love. Life is about more than hard work- you have to enjoy it’s little pleasures too! :)
I would tell myself to relax. Stop obsessing about your body, appreciate it, for it won’t always be this firm. Stop worrying about being single forever and not having a boyfriend in high school, one day you’ll meet an amazing man who will sweep you off your feet, always make the bed because he knows it makes you happy and always kiss you goodnight. One last note…love yourself.
