Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

I repinned your peanut butter banana oatmeal recipe.
i wish i knew this one when i was 16…actually i still have problems living according to this wisdom, but i try, i really try…
If someone wants to be a part of your life, they’ll make an effort to be in it. Don’t bother reserving a space in your heart for someone who doesn’t make an effort to stay.
I would tell myself to invest in mutually beneficial relationships, and to not waste time on people that are only interested in your friendship to meet their own needs! When trials arise in your life, those are the first people to vanish!
I would tell my younger self not to be so hard on yourself and love yourself for who you are.
I pinned your No Bake Peppermint Patty Bars.
Travel and see the world.
never be afraid to try
I would tell my younger, post-partum depressed self that there will be brighter days. Eating well and exercise help to keep the symptoms at bay. Your blog is one of my primary motivators. Your food looks amazing and every recipe that I have tried comes out fabulous. Thank you Angela for being such an inspiration to many.
I’d tell myself to go play outside as much as possible. Times are changing and you need to enjoy the outdoors while we can.
Advice to my younger self: “no, not him. Wait.”
I’d tell my younger self: go put on a bikini and don’t take it off til you’re 30. And also? That guy you like? He’s not the one. So don’t waste your breath. xxo
I have LOTS of advise I’d give my younger self but since you went mom themed I will too.
Love your mom and show her every day – you will lose her far too soon and after she’s gone you’ll realize that she was the foundation who held you up and you’ll have to rebuild yourself brick by brick
I would tell my self to let go a little more and have a little more fun.
I think about this often – I would tell my 16 year old self to stop worrying about every little thing that people say or do and to focus on myself, and to enjoy being 16! Make lots of friends and step out of your comfort zone. Don’t spend so much time thinking about what could happen, and try to go out and make things happen. :) I would tell her to stop eating so much “super noodles” and start exercising regularly. Most importantly I would tell her to stand up for herself and look deep within to find the wonderful person inside.
Don’t take your family for granted. Your “best friend” of two weeks will not be there for you when things get rough. One more thing….. Stop wearing those hideous boots, blah!

I would tell my 16 year old self to enjoy life & not rush to grow up so quickly. Enjoy life!
I would tell myself to be more confident -not everyone has the right answers all the time, and it’s ok!
Tweeted! Happy November!
I would tell my younger self to not worry so much about what other people think (actually, great advice for current self as well). :)
