Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! Thank you for sharing your touching (and often hilarious!) “lessons to my younger self” comments. If you are ever feeling down and need a pick me up, just read through the comments. It’s amazing to see how many of us have struggled with the same life lessons.

I would encourage myself to continue exercising and eating right. I think it would be so much easier to stay healthy instead of starting all over again in my forties!
Don’t worry, as this is like praying for the possiblity to happen.
I would tell my younger self to appreciate and truly love who I am physically and mentally, and to not let others judgement interfere with how I feel about myself.
I would tell my younger self to be honest with people about the hard things!
Pinned and made your oatmeal smoothies…yummo!!
I would tell myself that no one ever notices how often other people repeat outfits!
Pinned the oatmeal smoothie recipe!! Made it and loved it!
I also just re-pinned your recipe for peanut butter banana oatmeal! I EAT THAT STUFF EVERY SINGLE MORNING!! yum
I would tell myself I was not fat!!! It’s so sad how bad my body image was, and I was tiny!!! Ugh!
Don’t ever get hooked on sugar. It’s an addiction you’ll battle until you’re at least 41 years old.
I would say walk away from things that aren’t working sooner. Don’t take yourself so seriously and that it is ok to do things differently than others.
I would tell my self to “remember to play!”
Note to younger self: Save your money, learn to budget and manage money. Shopping to relieve stress only increases your stress later
Happy Blogaversary Angela,
In the last few months you seem to have really upped your game. I’m loving your blog and photo’s more than ever!
I’d say to my self to feed my mind and body with the best I can get. JUICE, JUICE, JUICE and LOVE YOUR GREENS. I’d say to plant myself where I am happy and to thrive among those who are kind. I’d firmly tell myself to go for what I really want in life and to tell those who think it wrong to focus on their own affairs. Wear more make-up. Buy that bright dress. Go get your hair done. Celebrate yourself and it will help others to celebrate you AND themselves too. Believe in the BEST LIFE! oh, and I love you. That’s what I’d say. Ahh!
Thanks for this awesome chance to win a mighty Blendtec. With this my Vegan & Gluten free blog would know no bounds! x
Make exercise a habit and everyday routine. Your body is your lifeline.
Love all the recipes you share with us and think this is a great thing you do…thanks a million!
Lindsy, your food is your fuel and all things put in, effect what shows on the outside. Protect your body and especially your skin. Food is truly your medicine. You only get one body :)
advice: it is amazing how far a humble heart will go. Saying sorry to people is the best relationship restorer and example you can give to your kids, students, and peers! owning your mistakes is freeing!
Dear 16 year old self. Love yourself more. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be yourself and be happy with that. Things are not perfect but you are still a good person. Everything will work out. Maybe not how you imagined them but it will be you okay. You are beautiful, strong and able to take on anything you set your heart on. Stop being so scared of failure. Failure is how we learn.
Now if only I could get my hands on a time machine!
Just repinned a recipe on Pinterest… Thanks again
