We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

I would love to be a tester.. But, I cook for my Mom, who has been a brittle diabetic for 60 years. She is moving towards some plant based food .. Yeah:) I also cook some for my sister who is battling breast and ovarian cancer. Also, a husband who is always worried about protein. Also, a nephew who has a MAJOR diary allergy.
I’m writing this because I would love to see the nutritional breakdown of your recipes. Calories, protein, sodium, sugar, fats, cholesterol, vitamins… Also, does the entree qualify as a complete protein.
Would love to perhaps have a range of sugars in the recipes. I often reduce sweeteners by half and we are very happy with that. I’m always looking for a way to make things healthier.
Love your cookbook and your website.
Thank you
I would love to test recipes, but honestly know that I wouldn’t do three per week. But I do have a request. Could you put nutritional info at the end of your recipes – serving size in addition to # of servings, calories, grams of protein, carbs, and other significant nutrients (vitamins, minerals) in the dish? Would make it much easier to put in My Fitness Pal! Thank you and I love your recipes. Thanks to you, my new vegan lifestyle has been a delicious culinary adventure!
I can’t wait! My old school Italian family even bought your cookbook and LOVE your food. Even my 87 year old Italian grandmother loves your food so that says a lot about your recipes! I have a 10 month old and will hopefully be pregnant again soon so I would love to see freezer friendly meals and snacks. I’m a police officer and I work 12 hour shifts so snacks are my friend as I don’t always get the chance to eat a full meal. I do all the cooking for us but my husband loves to help and our baby loves to eat it all. Especially your lentil walnut loaf. Fingers crossed I get selected to be a tester! Can’t wait for your next book :)
This is so awesome!! I’m a little late seeing this so hopefully you haven’t decided on all the tasters yet :) As an added bonus for picking me, my boyfriend is non-vegan but has no problem eating vegan food and he would be thrilled to help with this as well. So, you would be getting a vegan and non-vegan taste-tester in one!!
Congratulations on everything: from the baby to the start of your second cookbook! I would LOVE to join this opportunity. I just left my corporate gig to stay home with my 11 week old little girl and have totally become a pseudo-chef between diaper changes and naps :) Good luck with everything regardless. I started following your blog back in 2009 when I first went vegan and it really helped get me out of my baguette and bruschetta rut! Not that there’s anything wrong with that rut…just maybe not every day. :)
I am discovering vegan cooking and with ups and down trying my best to transition in a mixed household. Your blog and book have been a god-send. Your recipes are so yummy that my carnivores do not object to a few vegan meals a week. I would love to return the favor and help you be a tester. Let me know if I can help. I am blessed to have a great kitchen with pretty much every gadget. I have been cooking for 40 years (started at my mother’s side) but do not have any kind of formal training. I am a no non-sense cook.
What an exciting opportunity! I know you’ve had a lot of volunteers, but if you are looking for anyone to specifically focus on baking I would be happy to help. Baking is one of my personal (amateur) passions, and I am always looking for ways to take a healthy spin on sweet treats and tackle the challenge of gluten-free! I’m a relative newcomer to your blog, but I have definitely enjoyed every recipe I have tried. Best of luck with the new book!
Hello,
I am 15. and I just love cooking, backing etc. In the moment i am on an exchange in Canada where i learned about your blog and bought your first book as well. It really inspires me because I made the experience that your diet really affect your feeling. Since i am here unfortunately my diet got unhealthy due to my hostfamily. I can feel it and see it (pimpels, dry skin..). On the one side sad that my exchange is almost over (just 7 days left) but on the other side really looking Forward to try out your recipes and get healthy from the inside again. I am not vegetarien – but my meat intake is very less (i just don´t like the thought of eating animals). Iam really interestet in nutritious (I am active) and healthy Food and i would really enjoy trying your recipes from the other side of the world- from Germany (where the vegan trend is not as trendy as here yet)
I just sent in my application- right now I’m being the enthusiastic kid in class who is jumping up and down yelling “PICK ME! PICK ME!” So excited for your second cookbook!
Hi Angela, is there a deadline that you are following when you’ll have all of your testers lined up? A friend and I both applied and were hoping to be testers but don’t know how long to expect to wait to see if either of us are selected. Thanks!
Ya! So exciting! I try new recipes every week so this is right up my alley. Fun!
Hey Angela,
I would love to be a recipe tester. I am always looking for new ways to incorporate new recipes into our diet. While I am not 100% vegan, I do try to eat 80% plant based. I’ve sent in my information. SO hopefully I get chosen. Love your first book, it is used on a regular basis in our home.
I would love to test out your recipes…. I actually test them all the time!!!!
But I live in Italy and use our local products, no big food chains, and there IS a difference. Supermarkets will always be supermarkets
THank you for all the recipes and information you send it. I ‘m always very happy to read what you have to say. Love the Oh She Glows recipe book No. 1 and can’t wait to see what you cook up for No. 2.
I’m an old cook in a new house, new kitchen, just dying to experiment. Totally understand that you’ll be inundated, I couldn’t get to you any sooner as there were too many boxes in the way of the computer! All clear now – good luck with this next adventure

I love your recipes and blog. Thank you for making another cookbook. As a mom of three little ones I am looking forward to seeing how your recipes change as your daughter grows.
Hi Angela:
I filled out the app to be a recipe tester a few nights ago. I would love to be chosen as one of your recipe testers.
I don’t have a problem with testing 3+ recipes weekly. I’m vegan and I love to cook.
As well, my husband and I love to eat good food.
Thanks again.
Denise
Yay! So excited you are working on a new cookbook. I just found your first one a few months ago and it quickly became my go-to!!! Love trying new recipes that I can feel good about eating! Thank you for the opportunity! Best of luck with everything :-)
Good afternoon!
I just successfully completed your delicious recipe for Freezer Cookie Dough Fudge and it is OUTSTANDING! I recently made the transition to vegan-ism and your blog has been immeasurably helpful. Thank you for all of your good-humored and detailed tips.
Yours has been an encouraging voice.
I’m delighted to hear you are producing another cookbook! Though I have never been in the position to officially offer my opinions to another culinary enthusiast, it has been a delight following your blog and experimenting with your recipes.
Have a lovely weekend,
Claire
Hi
I submitted my details and would love to help test the recipes. I teach Home Economics in NZ and my students cover sustainability and Vegans at Level 2 . This would link in so well with all we do.
Hope I am successful but will enjoy current ideas if not xx
Woohoo….Excited that another book is coming. Love to be one of your testers, it will make the time waiting for your new book a lot more fun :)
All of my fingers and toes are crossed. Submitted my information. I am studying at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition in Mississauga; live in Burlington. Your cookbook is my absolute favourite. I learned to love cooking because of it. Every recipe I tried, we loved – and I could do it, easily. They never intimidated me. They made me feel like a chef. Thank you for inspiring me. I know you do that for thousands of others. Here’s hoping I can sign Recipe Tester next to my name. Happy sunny, snowy Sunday. :)
I’d love to be considered. I recently graduated from culinary school and decided to go vegan. I love your cookbook! I do cooking demos for cancer patients, and I ALWAYS use your cookbook.
Diana
Hi Angela, I would absolutely love the opportunity to be a recipe tester! I have tried SO many of your recipes from the blog and your cook book and love most things I have tried! I am newly vegan– with my allergies (Asthma and Eosinophilic Oesophagitis) I needed to give up dairy and I finally made the transition and feel so much better! I am also a doctor and have such an interest in nutrition. Your blog has given me the inspiration to make delicious tasty meals! Would love to be considered! I even have my fiancé half converted–unfortunately I don’t think I will ever fully turn him!! Laura
My family and I love your blog! I’ve been making recipes from it for at least two years, when I went (mostly) vegan. Your recipes are responsible for my reputation as a cook. :) I was thrilled when you released your first cookbook and I’ve made most of the recipes from it. I’m so excited that you’re making another cookbook and that you’re opening recipe testing to blog readers! How exciting! I would love to test recipes and coming from a house of 7, I can give you lots of feedback. :)
I’m looking forward to the new cookbook! Happy recipe-making!
Sooooo awesome to see that you will be sharing more wonderful inspiring and delicious recipes in print!!!! Can’t wait to add another one to the cookbookshelf!! You are soo inspiring!
Your first cookbook was amazing. This is my favourite of every cookbook I own (which is plenty), hands down. EVERYTHING I have made has been amazing, and whoever would have thought that possible. In our home we are striving to be at least 80% vegan and you make that so much easier, because your food tastes brilliant. With most recipes being very simple too, it’s my go-to book whenever I am cooking now. Thank you. CAN’T WAIT for book 2!
Hi Angela,
I use your cookbook pretty much everyday and when I’m not – I’m on the website. SOOO excited about a second book. I’m guessing this is already in the comments somewhere, and as a new mom I’m betting you’ve thought of this yourself, but JUST in case it SOMEHOW was missed…. adding a “freezer friendly” tag in the recipes would be really awesome. 99% of the time, I’m all about fresh is best, but sometimes having a recipe or two in the freezer can be very helpful, like when you have a new baby at home, or a busy weeknight.
Either way, I’ll be pre-ordering my little heart out as soon as humanly possible. Congratulations!!
A second cookbook! Very exiting! I wish I had the time to be a recipe tester! I love your recipes and you have been a huge support in my vegan transition over this past year. I would like to agree with PP about adding the nutritional information to your recipes. This is really important in helping me calculate my nutritional needs for the day.
I am so happy that you are making a second cookbook! I absolutely love all your recipes. You have really helped me change my eating lifestyle for the better. I am always in the kitchen I love to cook and bake. I really hope you consider making me a recipe tester!
Keeps telling me to give a real email address so I have put both my email addresses in dvd it won’t accept either one. A glitch? I would love to test recipes for you.
I keep trying to submit my application and it rejects it without explaining why! Have I missed my chance?
Hi Angela,
It’s always been a dream of mine to help work on cookbooks! I’m an avid home cook and usually focus on wholesome whole food recipes — I’m always up for a good veggie rice bowl :) Currently I also work part time as a baker at a vegan/gluten-free bakery and contribute recipes to a couple sites. I’ve submitted an application and would love to get involved with your book!
Hi Angela!
This is such an exciting opportunity! Just wondering when you will be selecting the recipe testers! :) Hoping that I get selected!
Just submitted my application! Your website inspires me, and I use your cook book all the time. It would be an honor to be a part of round two!
Wow what a great opportunity – application is in! I got your cookbook for Christmas and am completely in LOVE :) I’m a budding vegan chef and I learn so much each time I work my way through one of your delicious recipes. Thanks for everything and good luck on your new cookbook!
x
Beth
Oh how I would love to be a part of this!! Fingers crossed it is not too late to be considered!!
What an awesome opportunity. After being diagnosed with cancer 5 yrs ago, I stumbled across your website and was blessed with the delishessness (is that even a word?) And wholesomeness of your food. I dont work and LOVE cooking, this would certainly fill my days with a passion and my husband would be stoked
Would love to be a recipe tester!
I was very ill over the holidays and am and have been recovering by drinking green juices and smoothies and by following a vegan/vegetarian diet. I was a vegetarian for 8 years in the past, but ended up with vitamin/mineral imbalances. When I cook your recipes, I know, I can feel it, that this is completely different. There is balance and vitality.
Like others I wondered about the title of the book. But I get it now. It makes total sense. It’s a way of being and living.
Forget about all that horrid stuff we tend to eat mindlessly. And why do we? Your recipes are so amazing and easy to make. Why waste time on the really not so good? Especially when, with a little guidance, we all can work at becoming vibrant and healthy human beings from the inside out.
Hi Angela! I have been following you since I became vegan about 2 years ago. I would like to test your recipes and submit honest feedback. I have a baby same age as yours and a toddler that’s why I like quick and easy recipes like yours.
Soooo excited for the new cookbook!!! We already make recipes 3-5 times a week from the first book or the blog, so committing to 3x would be no problem ;) My husband still eats dairy but I’ve cut it out due to my sons food sensitivities (he’s a few months older than your sweet girl and still breastfeeding). Thanks to you I hardly miss the dairy at all!!
I am an avid cook, currently enrolled in a Nutritional Therapy course, and would be thrilled to be a tester! I am just learning what I can eat and what I cannot and I am searching for recipes that I can incorporate into my newly prescribed diet.
I have Hashimoto and Graves Disease. Just over a week ago, my Naturopathic Doctor removed gluten, dairy and caffeine from my diet to slow down my thyroid. She also recommended your site and I love it!!!
A second cookbook sounds very exciting. My daughter introduced me to the OSG cookbook when her Dad had a triple by pass surgery, and we wanted to start eating healthy. She tried most of your recipes and I have too tired alot of them as well. We are very happy with the recipes.I just made the PNB balls for a function and I had the recipe beside the items on the table . The speakers that got up to speak that nite complimented on the PNB balls, and was thrilled to have the recipe. I then told them of the cookbook that I used “OH SHE GLOWS” and they wanted to purchase one for their families. I would love to be chosen as a recipe tester as I lost my job in December and have alot of valuable time to try the recipes and its a win win situation. My husband will be eating more healthy and I get to do what I love to do the most is cook and bake. When I was little I used to send for recipe books by saving boxtops, etc and it was such great memories of trying the recipes. My Mom cut her finger one day and I had to make homemade bread for her as she couldn’t put her hands into the dough.. I was only 9 yrs old and the bread came out so yummy that day..She put the huge pan of dough on a chair for me to mix. She has passed away and I have such great memories of my Mom and I baking at home.
This sounds exactly what I would love to do! I already cook your meals at home at least one a day! I love the way you cook! I got your first cookbook for christmas and have almost run through every recipe ( some have become staples). how lucky I was to find your blog when I became a vegan in may 2014.
You are awesome and my husband and two boys thank you too!!!!
Hi Angela – pick me, pick me!!!
My niece just told me about your new cookbook and suggested that I would be an awesome recipe tester…. She’d like me to try out ALL of your recipes for she and her 2 new adopted children (as you might imagine she is a bit busy to do this herself!). Sha gave me your cookbook and I am now the Glo Bar queen!
I know I am late to the process but cooking and making notes are what I love to do! Maybe I could fill in for a drop-out if you’ve already selected your testers!
Hi Angela,
Just wondering if you have picked your recipe testers yet?
Thanks
Diane
I adore your first book and cannot wait for your second. I ended up buying a second copy of the first book for the lending library at our preschool and so far every mom who has borrowed it has bought it – none of them are even close to vegan. Yes! You’re doing great work here!
I’m a new follower and I just purchased your cookbook (it was recommended by simplegreensmoothies.com)! The month of February has been / will be committed to their FreshStart21 program and is the first time I’ve ever tried veggie / vegan food. I can’t believe how delicious it all is! Thank you (and all other bloggers) for sharing your love of REAL food.
I’m super not vegan but I enjoy great food. I recently tried your cauliflower alfredo sauce and lemme tell ya, it’s the real deal. I added a handful of spinach (because I had it on hand) and baby bellas and I didn’t even miss the parm. Thanks for taking the fad out of vegetarian cooking and making it about great food that just happens to be vegan.
Hi Angela! I guess I am too late! I tried submitting the application form, but it does not seem to go through. Is this because you’ve been inundated with requests? I’m sad if that is the case, but still ever grateful for all the goodness you give us on your blog! I am a French-trained chef, now vegetarian, looking to add more clean, whole food recipes to my repertoire. To that end, I am deliciously working my way through your first book…and converting many of my friends and family in the process! Thank you so much!
So excited to hear you are doing another cook book!! I bought 3 different cook books last year. Yours was the one with a lie , the favorite, the one I go back to over and over. Each recipe I have tried has been awesome and not just with me, but family and extended family and we are all carnivores!! Thank you so much for such a great cookbook and now I eagerly look forward to number 2!!
I mean “without a lie”
