We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

so wish I could help but we are travelling for the next 3 months: Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Guatemala and Mexico.
I can give you a recipe to add though. In Bariloche, Argentina they make a delicious spread for bread before the meal…
carrots shredded
lemon juice
garlic
a little oil…I am one to leave oil out of a recipe.
salt/pepper again I would leave the salt out
I might add a little ginger or tumeric
You can experiment with this. It is really delicious to spread on bread…
Congrats on your second book! I love your blog. Thank you for bringing us such healthy recipes..healthy for us, healthy for the planet and healthy for animals.
Thank YOU

One of the areas of cookbooks that I find really fail is breakfast. I have not found, except for 1 recipe, a book that offers a breakfast that can hold me over until lunch.
I usually always have steel cut oats with Chia seeds, frozen fruit and a flavored basalmic vinegar. I prepare 4 portions at a time in my Zojirushi rice cooker. Why, because this is super convenient. I bring my individual servings 1 or 2 a week and leave in the company refrigerator so I’m not stuck with nothing to eat.
If you woud focus on recipes that are quick to make, that taste great reheated and that require few ingredients you’d be great. If you are interested in me trying breakfast recipes only, I would be more than glad to do so. This is where I find that recipe books don’t offer enough options or the options they offer require so much energy to prepare that I just give up and stick to my steel cut oats. I normally cook my recipes on the weekend and eat them throughout the week. I just don’t have time to cook on weeknights. So Saturdays are my big cooking days where I cook several recipes and clean the kitchen once. Thanks and very much looking forward to see this new book.
Hi,
I’ve been vegan for a while now and read your blog a lot. My goal this year was to try lots of new dishes so the recipe tester opportunity would be a really great, structured way for me to do this (thinking purely of myself here!Hah!)
I have favourites that I cook regularly (a lot of which are recipes from your cookbook) so it would be fun to mix it up and try new things. I am also based in London so can let you know if ingredients are hard/easy to find for the people in the UK and my OH’s family are indian so would love it if you had some indian dishes in there aswell!
Good luck with your new book :)
Hi Angela,
I love your blog and your cookbook and all the wonderful recipes. I would love the opportunity to be a recipe tester for your next cookbook.
Hello! I’ve been reading through your website all week and went and bought your cookbook last night. I read it from cover to cover and then made the first recipe. So proud of myself for having all of the ingredients for the overnight oatmeal actually in my house. I’ve been making changes gradually in my pantry so it was a thrill for me to make. Had some this morning before work. All I can say is that it’s happy food. Can’t wait to start on the next one. You’re going to be my Julia Childs. I will learn, or rather relearn, how food was meant to be prepared. Simple, clean happy food.
Angela…
Help!!!! This is a crisis!!!!
I wanted to make your toffee cinnamon oatmeal bars today – we love them…but I cannot seem to pull the recipe up on the site…any ideas?
Thanks so much!
Suzanne
Crisis resolved!
I realized this has happened before with this recipe and I thought maybe it was taken off the blog for some reason….I just pulled out my lap top though and it came up on that one. Very strange – but now so happy I can make them :-)
Thanks for the blessing of these wonderful , scrumptious recipes!
Hi Angela,
I am a nutritionist and a passionate foodie. My love of cooking healthy foods prompted me to begin my second career 15 years ago as a registered dietitian. I’ve been following your blog for a few years. Your cookbook is my go to for the best vegetarian/vegan recipes. It’s also makes the perfect hostess gift! I would be thrilled at the chance to test recipes for your next publication. I have the necessary equipment and I’ve submitted the form. Please pick me!
With Healthy Regards,
Lynne
I have lots of time. I am 62. Been vegan for 3 years. Totally obsessed with cooking and have all the tools. I love trying new recipes. And exotic (hint hint). I like simple but I also like a challenge. Looking forward to your new awesome book :-)
Since you don’t have a box in the form for “why I’d be a great recipe tester,” here’s my little plug. I’ve always wanted to be a recipe tester because I’m a synthetic chemist, so I have mad skillz at following directions and taking extensive notes while working. I think I like cooking so much because it is just like chemistry, but none of my ingredients are explosive/toxic.
Looking forward to your next publication and wondering how you choose your recipe testers from the huge number of submissions. :o)
Angela,
You are such an inspiration to all of us just getting going in the natural food industry! I know you’ll have a ton of options, but I have to say that if chosen I would be a committed and dedicated tester. I currently choose 3-4 of your recipes for my weekly meals so really would not be much of a change for me. I also promote your recipes on my blog and social media whenever I cook them.. Good luck with the new cookbook whoever you choose! I know it will be fantastic!
Jenna :)
Hi Angela!
I was SO excited to see you were making another cookbook- my partner already knows that it is on my birthday list for 2016!
I started following your blog and then bought your cook book earlier this year and as everyone has said, never once been disappointed! I know that everything I make is delicious and incredibly nourishing!
I would be so excited and honored to be a recipe tester! I am a pre-service teacher and just made my own blog and I think part of my focus is going to be recipes/health/fitness so this would be a really neat component!
Thanks for your dedication and hard work to creating all of this!
Kaitlyn
I was just talking about how cool it would be to be a recipe tester! I’d say about 85% of my weekly meals are from recipes I found on Pinterest or from my cookbooks, so I’m no stranger to following a good recipe!
xoxo

I am SOOOO excited for this!! From the moment I was introduced to your cookbook, I fell in love with so many recipes that are now a staple in our home! It was my mother-in-law’s copy and a few weeks later, I noticed she had bought another one for herself because I had hers with me all the time! I’m also a new mom to a beautiful 8 month old boy, so being on maternity leave and getting to cook so much yummy food would be fabulous!!! I also agree with the nutritional values being included. It’s not a priority for me, but from time to time I am interested in seeing the protein count. I would LOVE to be a recipe tester but I also just can’t wait to get my hands on your new cookbook! Your book and your blog have truly inspired me to be a better cook and I love that I can make healthy and deeeeelicious food for my family!
Wou If I get chosen I will feel honored and will be a life experience, I am not vegan but I love your recipes, the mixture of flavours and ingredients , I have tried most of the recipes from your book and blog, love them!
Exciting news!!
I can’t wait for another book from you! We use Oh She Glows daily. The kids don’t even like it when I make something that isn’t from you!
Tonight, we are having your Life Affirming Nacho Dip with chips and Crowd Pleasing Casserole – and inviting a meat lover over for the vegan feast.
I have to say I loved loved your first cookbook. Each and every single recipe I have tried has been a hit. With my food allergies and my daughters lactose intolerance, each and every single recipe can be used in our house. Which is something I haven’t been able to say for any cookbook I have in my library, and I have many many cookbooks. Can’t wait to see what your next cookbook brings.
So glad I found your blog and cookbook! I have always loved to cook and started doing it more intensely after I got diagnosed with some serious dairy/egg allergies. Would love to be a tester (or as I like to think of it, a master taster) since I am using so many of your recipes anyway!
Applied. Would love to do this :) I had to mark unsure for 3 recipe commitment (new baby arriving in March and must be honest with you and myself), but I see it as a great opportunity to get back in the kitchen and make yummy meals for my family and myself. Willing to do it. 3x a week or month or bi weekly or however you send them out shouldn’t be too bad. And I’ve got a meat eater in the fam who has enjoyed many of your recipes I’ve whipped up over the years. :)
