We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

This is so exciting! I would LOVE to be a recipe tester for your next book! I honestly could not have gotten through cooking dairy free and gluten free without your recipes! I was already vegan but when my boyfriend and I found out he had an allergy to gluten it was so hard to cook for us. I always tell everyone about your blog and cookbook because everything taste good! I can’t wait for the second book to come out and I hope that you pick me :) Thanks for the opportunity!
Very excited you are making another cookbook! I trial new (new to me anyway) recipes all the time from library cookbooks, but I also have several standbys that I’ll make at least once a month. I love variety and I’m looking forward to getting more healthy this year, so thanks for the opportunity!
I would love to test your recipes from a Celiac prospective (I can’t do gluten or soy – freckledceliac.wordpress.com). I’ve been creating recipes for years and followed your blog for quite awhile. Your recipes are incredible. I’m fairly good with photos and write-ups and can send you step-by-steps of our testing if you would like.
Also, I am friends with several other food-allergy sufferers (such as a friend with UC who is dairy/spicy food free–though she loves soy) who also love cooking whole foods and would enjoy making/testing them with me. We definitely have time to test 3 recipes.
I have been trying to expand my Celiac-friendly recipe box, so this would be a great opportunity. I am happy to either keep it confidential or write up and link reviews to you on my blog, depending on your preference.
Thanks!
How exciting!!! Your first cookbook is incredible – I am thrilled to hear that a second is in the works! In reflecting on how much my taste buds have developed over the years, I must say that I never quite envisioned myself enjoying vegan cooking as much as I have over the past year. Thank you for your insightful blog posts and mouth-watering creations that have given me a whole new outlook on nutrition and the pure pleasure of food.
Hi there!
I have been a loyal follower of you blog for almost three years, and I rely on it heavily for new ideas in the kitchen. Anyway I would love to be a recipe tester, but I understand that a lot of people will be applying. You mentioned that you would like a varied skill-level and I am a sophomore at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. This means that I have a full knife kit, food scale, and live in a dorm with a Viking Kitchen. If you need connections to chefs, I can talk to any of my professors. They are all extremely knowledgeable, and love challenging recipes. Nonetheless, good luck on your next cookbook!
Love and Congratulations on your beautiful, glowing baby!
Emily
So exciting!!! I applied to be a tester, and for my own selfish reasons, Hope I am chosen! I am a stay at home mom to two semi-picky kids, ages 7 and 11. I also have a carnivorous husband. I’m lucky enough to stay at home, love and know how to cook well, own more kitchen tools and gadgets than ever needed, and live less than 3 miles away from four major grocery stores. My rule is to always follow a recipe to the letter the first time, make notes as I go, ask for feedback from the fam, then adjust as necessary the next time around.
I’m actually a bit of a stickler about this, and read cookbooks like text books. An example: My husband works for a huge, international resort and gaming company, and a famous pastry chef worked at one if his hotels. Sweets are my downfall, and my husband was kind enough to get me a copy of her cookbook and had her autograph it. However, the first recipe I tried had a typo in it! It wasn’t an obvious typo, but an ingredient measurement that I knew had to be off. I told my husband, and he said he had to tell her. I told him “NO”! She’s a renound chef and I’m just a home cook/baker! He told her anyway though, and sure enough, it was a mistake that no one caught, including her! I got a new reprint of her book, and my husband got bragging rights as he loves to tell people that his wife is so good in the kitchen that she even corrects famous pastry chef’s recipes! Now, if I could Convince my kids that I’m a decent cook and get them to eat everything I make is be set! ; )
I have been wanting to make more vegetarian/vegan/healthy recipes for quite sometime, but no one was on board. My husband is on board though now, and assures me that hopefully the kids will follow. I just don’t know where to start though… I almost feel like a new cook even though I have 12+ years of experience! I started following your fabulous blog a few months ago when a friend shared a post of yours on Facebook! Would love to test recipes. Help me… Help you!!! ; )
This is the opportunity I have been waiting for! I am so excited about your second cookbook and would love love love to get to test all of your recipes and provide some feedback! Congrats and best of luck with your cookbook, I hope to be able to be part of it :)
Oh I hope I didn’t miss the cutoff. I’ve been checking your site constantly since you posted you’d need testers. Hope I can be a part of it. ☺
I got your cookbook for Christmas and it has been wonderful! Every recipe I’ve tried has been happy food dance worthy for my husband and me, but our two little ones… not so much. I would love to see recipes geared more for the kid palette – still packed with veggies just less…. chili powder.
By the way, many thanks for the flu-fighter sunshine soothie. I’ve been through 12 pounds of oranges so far, slurping down at least one a day, and I don’t have the flu, it’s just so yummy.
Ooh! Ca’t wait for the new cookbook! I love all your recipes and they’re a staple in our household (especially the desserts). Can’t wait to try out these new ones.
Oh PLEASE PLEASE pick me….that’s right I am not too proud to beg LOL. I have been following your blog for years and just love everything you write about. You have been such an inspiration to me and I recommend your book and website to everyone. I am not vegan, I have no allergies and no food aversions but I absolutely LOVE your recipes….I love your food. I would be so incredibly excited, happy and blessed to be chosen to do this for you and cannot fully express how incredibly grateful I would feel to be a part of this.
Your new cookbook is great news for OSG fans! I would love the chance to be part of it and would carefully and promptly do my best to recreate the recipes and provide helpful feedback. Most of the meals I make at this point are from your website or the book. The recipes are a match to my personal tastes in food and my commitment to healthy eating. Eating vitamin-packed, plant- based, delicious food makes me very happy and I am grateful to have all of your recipes for inspiration.
If I could offer a personal wish for the next book it would be a bigger section devoted to entrees. Those are the ones I return to again and again. Aaand…. I know most people love tomatoes and peppers, but for a few reasons, they are not my fav. I would love soup and dinner recipes that don’t include them or could be modified to exclude them. In any case, I can’t wait to see what you come with.
One last thing. I just made the Caesar salad you reposted and could not believe how delicious it was. Could not stop eating it. So, so good!!!!
My sister brought me your book last year .. its wonderful, My new years resolution was to work my way through every recipe , and to move from being vegetarian to vegan , so the long and the short of it is I know I can commit to following the requirements,I have a vitamix, food processor, dehydrator and spiralizer , and a Mum and Husband both willing to enjoy any of your delicious recipes, and if I am not picked … well I will eagerly await the new book :)
Oh my gosh. Angela, I would love to be a recipe tester for you! I make at least five meals a day. My family will see me in the kitchen making glow bars, granola, mint patties, muffins, lunches, appetizers, salads, snacks, and etc. I often hosts dinner parties or lunch parties at my house for all the non-vegan friends to show them how good vegan food tastes! I am a stay at home mother so I have lots of time to try out tons of recipes!
Love the first book and I have shared it with everyone I know. I’m studying Holistic Nutrition in Toronto, ON and frequently make all of your delicious creations for my roommates. Would love to assist with testing recipes :D Fingers crossed I get the opportunity to do so!
How fantastic! I asked for your, “Oh She Glows” cookbook for Christmas and love everything we have made in it! The sweet potato & black bean enchiladas with avocado cream sauce were a huge hit here! The soul soothing african peanut stew was so amazing – we were stunned! Everything you create turns out perfectly with wonderful flavors! Your pictures are gorgeous too! Thank you for your website also! We had the best holiday menu ever with the festive lentil walnut balls and cranberry sauce. Even the omnivores loved them and asked for the recipe! You have some serious fans here :)
Congratulations on making a second book! I love your first book and everything I’ve made from the book and your site has turned out delicious.
I have only one suggestion…. To better splash proof the pages!! I dripped water on one page and wiped off words when I tried to clean it off. :(
Best of luck! Excited already for book number two.
Hi Angela!
Hi Angela!
I have been following your blog for sometime, and received your cookbook for Christmas and have been making your recipes. I love cooking so much and would love to be part of this amazing team working on your next book. I am so happy that you are writing another one and am looking forward to reading it! Thanks for including your fans into your next book! <3
Angela, I’m so excited about your new cookbook! I’m in law school and living on my own for the first time, so I’m learning to cook for myself. I love your website and have made your recipes for myself and my boyfriend (vegan). Delicious.
Can’t wait to see what you create next.!
