Stuffed Silly

by Angela (Oh She Glows) on March 22, 2010

Hello there :)

Day 2 in Naples…

Breakfast was a huge green monster…and then we were off to Super Target!

IMG_2801  IMG_9014

I died and went to heaven. I’m going to need to go back at least twice more just to see everything!

My mom and I loved the girl’s bedroom decor…I was told that ‘I must have a girl!’

 IMG_9024 IMG_9026

How cute would a child’s bathroom be with this stuff?!

Oh my gosh…their dishware section!! Words cannot describe how big my pupils got.

IMG_9039  IMG_9042

For the record, I took a lot more pictures…obviously! Unfortunately my blog will combust if I post all of them.

This is what I got: 3 plastic plates, 1 plastic bowl, B12 vits (super cheap here), Halle Berry’s new perfume (smells awesome, my mom and I both got one):

I can’t believe that is all I walked out with. I must go back so I can have time to try on clothes.

Eric’s only purchase (LAME!!) bahahah

Then it was off to the Miromar Outlet– it is a huge outdoor outlet mall. And I mean huge…as in you live here your whole life and you might get to every store.

We stopped at Subway for lunch and I got a big salad.

We only made a dent in this outlet. None of us bought anything either.

When we got back to our rental car, we discovered that someone had hit the car and RUN. :(

We got home and I had a second lunch as that subway salad was AIR in my tummy…

  • Eziekel wrap with hummus
  • 1 orange
  • 1 apple
  • Mary’s crackers + hummus + tomato sauce
IMG_9083       IMG_2810 IMG_2807

Hit the spot!

Eric and I relaxed on the porch for a while and I did some writing. Then we decided to go for a run-bike!

IMG_9124 IMG_9125

It was amazing outside. Perfect temperature and blue skies.

All along the trails they have fitness stations to do different exercises.

IMG_9135 IMG_9138

I love running on vacation.

I also love having time to spend with Eric…we’ve been going mock speed for the past two years and it is nice to be able to just leave work behind for a while and not think about it.

We had been gone for over 1 hour and I got worried because we weren’t sure where we were for a few minutes. I asked the hubby if we were lost and he said NOPE! hahaha…he says that always of course. ;)

Picture below: 1 hour 5 minutes: I was saying to him, ARE WE LOST??? Need…water…!

But alas we made it and pulled in after 1 hour 12 minutes! I have no idea how many miles we covered but I ran quite speedy to keep up with Eric. The terrain is so flat here and I found it easier to run faster than usual.

Once home I had a banana to re fuel and lots of swamp water. Then it was time to get ready to go out for dinner. Eric and I were treating my stepdad to a belated birthday dinner at Carrabba’s. [He is a bit camera shy so don’t expect to see him on the blog!] ;)

IMG_9152 IMG_9157

I looked at the menu and there was one thing I could get that was vegan- a cheeseless veggie pizza, so I was good to go…or so I thought! When we got there we were told that they were OUT of pizza. Ummm…come again?!. Luckily the chef was very accommodating and made me a custom stir-fry.  I had a salad to start (which was decent!) and 6.5 oz of Merlot.

IMG_9168   IMG_9164

Behold the biggest and most delicious stir-fry ever:

IMG_9172  IMG_9175

I cannot believe I ate it all. It was massive (the bowl was deep). I think I had about 400 servings of veggies in this dish (and probably 10 tablespoons of oil!). Everyone else loved their dishes too.

I’m still crazy full and it is midnight!

Tomorrow’s plan:

  • Fort Lauderdale bound in AM
  • Checking into motel
  • Lunch: ????
  • Afternoon: parasailing + beach stuff
  • Dinner: ????
  • Bars- Irish pubs

I am pretty sure the motel has wireless, so let’s hope it works…

i cannot imagine life without target. i go there almost daily, haha! so glad you got to enjoy it!!!

Allie (Live Laugh Eat) March 22, 2010 at 11:07 pm

What a day what a day!!! I knew you would be instantly obsessed with Target. I still cannot believe it was your firs time. I have gotten SO many dishes from that place. You found some cute ones. I need to go back for a restock.

Boo with the hit and run…I hope that ends up okay. You are glowing in all those photos, Angela!

Allison @ Food For Healing March 22, 2010 at 11:10 pm

I can’t believe how rude people can be to hit and run! that annoys me, like come on!

The run/bike looked so nice, i cant wait until Saskatchewan has some nicer weather (and when i get a new job) so that I can go outside and run and train for my 10K. Eep.

Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) March 22, 2010 at 11:13 pm

That stir-fry looks awesome! So huge and filling. Yum! I’m having major veggie cravings now.

liane March 22, 2010 at 11:16 pm

I’m very jealous of the Target visit.
Some may be jealous at the sun, sand, palm trees. Not I, I want to go to Target!

Ashley March 22, 2010 at 11:20 pm

I am loving your vacation posts. Relaxed workouts on vacation are so much fun…as are relaxed vacations! I haven’t really had one of those in quite some time! Looks like you guys are having so much fun and that dress is totally adorable :)

Lin March 22, 2010 at 11:21 pm

OMG Target is AWESOME. It’s my absolute favorite store. Florida looks so nice and warm, it’s quite chilly up here in Chicago.

Lisa (bakebikeblog) March 22, 2010 at 11:23 pm

wow what a day! I love running on vacation too – its such a great way to explore an area!

[email protected] March 22, 2010 at 11:26 pm

While I neither have TJ’s or whole foods here, I do have a Target! haha I get a lot of props there for food pictures… so great!

That white dress you are wearing is so gorgeous! It looks stunning on you!

nicole chasing blue March 22, 2010 at 11:26 pm

Naples looks so beautiful! I would LOVE to run outside in the sunshine and feel the warmth of the sun.

My cousin lives in Naples and she just loves it there.

I can’t wait to see more of your vacation pix!

Evey, "Don't Fight the Apple, Eve" March 22, 2010 at 11:27 pm

I used to work at Carrabbas. Once I changed my lifestyle it was pretty hard to find food there after a long shift. I normally did what you did. The chefs were used to my requests. They actually have only 1 vegan sauce, its the Picchi Pacchu sauce. It consists of chopped up tomatoes, EVOO, basil, garlic, and some spices. So if you happen to ever go back, the stirfry is even better with that, than the oil. MUCH healthier too. Hope that helps

Tracie @hollafoodzone March 22, 2010 at 11:53 pm

Sounds like a great vacation so far! You are right about Target – it’s always a fun store!

Rawkin Robin March 23, 2010 at 12:01 am

Looks like so much fun!! LOVE love love Target :) Quick question for ya – what kind of knee sleeves did you use before to help your running? I’ve tried a few types but they’ve been too bulky and stiff – (big velcro straps or stiff on the sides). Do you have any recommendations or specific info on what you used?

Katherine @ Lipgloss and Spandex March 23, 2010 at 12:10 am

Isn’t Target FABULOUS?! I live in the US and have access to one all the time, but I still “ooh!” and “ahh!” over everything :P Your vacation looks awesome, and that custom stirfry looks delicious.

Sportsgirl March 23, 2010 at 12:55 am

I feel like I’m on vacation too!! :D

Tay March 23, 2010 at 1:09 am

I never realized you didn’t have Targets!! OMG best store in the world. I don’t have one near me at school, so I always go crazy when I come home on vacations. I just go binge shopping there!

Tasha - The Clean Eating Mama March 23, 2010 at 1:31 am

What a fun day! When you went to the restaurant, did you tell the waiter that you were vegan? That was so nice that the chef made a special dish just for you! I have been reluctant to make any special requests as I feel I am being difficult – most times I just say I have dairy allergies AND that I don’t eat meat. Although that doesn’t always cover everything in a vegan diet.

Michelle March 23, 2010 at 2:08 am

I’ve been following your blog for a while and I love it!
It’s especially nice now since I go on vacation to Florida (Naples area to be precise) once a year, and I recognize all the places haha. Miromar is so good, I love that outlet!
Enjoy the rest of your stay in Florida!

Samantha March 23, 2010 at 2:27 am

Target is indeed wonderful…I miss it so much and did a lot of damage there in Hawaii a few weeks ago!

Eric doesn’t ride with a helmet?!

Kerry March 23, 2010 at 3:26 am

I want a girl :D That is, when it’s time for me to have a baby! lol! That salad is biiiig from subway!! And your run looks lovely! Such nice weather! *jealous* xxxx

mandy March 23, 2010 at 3:31 am

have you gained weight?

Jennie {in Wonderland} March 23, 2010 at 4:49 am

Christ on a Mary’s Organic Cracker…

Incredibly rude, none of your business, inappropriate, gross… any of these ringing any bells for you? They totally should be.

Also, seriously, spectacular job missing the point of Angela’s blog. We’re here to celebrate health and fitness, not wallow in negative weight talk.

Run along.

Lynda March 23, 2010 at 9:28 am

Samantha March 23, 2010 at 4:30 pm

Wow…rude much? Angela looks wonderful and sets an amazing example for ways to be healthy from the inside out. Why judge?

Amber March 23, 2010 at 6:17 pm

I’m shocked that someone actually posted that. Wow.
Angela- you look beautiful.

pam landy March 23, 2010 at 8:52 pm

Mandy has got some nerve. Mandy didn’t your parents or teachers teach you anything about manners?? Obviously she is just jealous of how FABULOUS you look Angela!

Ilona March 24, 2010 at 8:46 am

I was just thinking how amazing you look in that dress, and as always, you look so inspiring in running gear! Mandy is weird. And rude, and obviously doesn’t see what everyone esle sees.

A March 24, 2010 at 8:33 pm

“Mandy is weird” made me laugh out loud.

Jennie {in Wonderland} March 23, 2010 at 4:50 am

That white dress is divine!

Not to mention, TARGET!!!!!! Ahhh I miss Florida. I miss the USA in general, really sometimes… you can get the coolest stuff there.

Rachel (Suburban Yogini) March 23, 2010 at 5:04 am

Sorry to hear about your hire car.

Those trails remind me of the trails in Queensland. Memories :)

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is March 23, 2010 at 5:35 am

I love your white dress! I think it is so cute how much you love Target. I knew you’d like it! I want to go there everyday…it is amazing.

sarah (shep) March 23, 2010 at 6:23 am

your reaction to Target = priceless! it IS the most amazing store ever, hands down!

Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg March 23, 2010 at 7:05 am

Haha, glad you got to go to Target. It is the best, isn’t it?

I love your white dress! It pops so well with your tan!

Meredith (Pursuing Balance) March 23, 2010 at 7:06 am

Have fun in Fort Lauderdale! check out Sublime restaurant if you have the chance :)

Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) March 23, 2010 at 7:07 am

See, I told you you’d love target!! I can’t wait to go there on Easter break! Did you know target is thinking about coming to Canada?? I hope so!

You look lovely in that white dress =D

Jenny March 23, 2010 at 7:07 am

Glad ya had do much fun at supertarhet! I agree, subway salads do nada for hunger!

Jess (Fit Chick in the City) March 23, 2010 at 7:20 am

I love all these summer-sunshiney photos! I also love that white dress.

Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin March 23, 2010 at 7:24 am

Life without Target is no way to live! :)

Becky @ flybynyght March 23, 2010 at 7:44 am

I love to run on vacation too – it’s like a treat! Oh and Target beats the socks off of ‘Zellers’ doesn’t it? Ok, like they’re even in the same league… :)

Paige @ Running Around Normal March 23, 2010 at 7:53 am

Wow what a fun-PACKED day! Isn’t it great how much time there is on vacays?
Great job on the run :D I love your tank. Lemme guess…Lulu? ;)
Have fun today!

Katie March 23, 2010 at 7:57 am

Kelly March 23, 2010 at 8:01 am

I cannot wait to go on vacation. Looks like you’re having tons of fun!

Pure2Raw - Twins March 23, 2010 at 8:08 am

Target is such a great store. So glad to see that you are enjoying yourself and having lots of fun ;) It makes me miss Florida. You and Eric are so cute together.

Krystina March 23, 2010 at 8:16 am

You look wonderful in that white dress! I’m glad you enjoyed Target so much. :P

[email protected] March 23, 2010 at 8:24 am

what a ewonderful time you are having…..keep enjoying!

Gillian March 23, 2010 at 8:27 am

Target is the highlight of my USA trips — sad maybe — but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to go when I cross the border!

And I must say – that white dress looks super fantastico on you!

Jolene March 23, 2010 at 8:33 am

I can’t believe I have never been to a Target … I totally have to check one out next time I am in the US.

Jessie March 23, 2010 at 8:34 am

Hey. I’m not sure where you are going in Ft. Lauderdale. But if you need a casual lunch there is a GREAT soup/salad buffet in Plantation called Sweet Tomatoes. Everything is homemade and super yummy.

Lauren @ Eater not a runner March 23, 2010 at 8:49 am

I’ve been to those outlets and they are HUGE!

You look so pretty in your white dress!!

Urban Girl March 23, 2010 at 8:56 am

I agree, you’ve got to check out Sublime if you’re going to Fort Lauderdale. You won’t regret it; they have delicious vegan fare! Yum, I wish I were going!!

Urban Girl March 23, 2010 at 8:57 am

P.S.– Get the frito misto!

Jessica @ The Process of Healing March 23, 2010 at 9:00 am

And now you understand the magic that is Target… you just CANT go in there and come out empty-handed. LOVE their dishes too! Cute and cheap!

Lindsey March 23, 2010 at 9:08 am

What fun, what fun! You totally ROCK that white dress, too!!!

I really appreciate vacation time with my hubs, too – it’s so rare to spend slow-down time together, that when we do on vacation, I NEVER WANT IT TO END. EVER.

Never been to Florida. Me likey! :)

Hope you’re able to find more accommodating eats these next days! Two lunches is sometimes frustrating (I find).

Cheerio! :)

Sophie @ yumventures March 23, 2010 at 9:24 am

Your white dress is beautiful :) Have so much fun!

Tina March 23, 2010 at 9:24 am

I love that white dress!!! It is gorgeous on you! :)

Glad day 2 was another great one. It sure looked amazing. Who can beat a fun run, shopping, and a delicious dinner with loved ones? :)

Lynda March 23, 2010 at 9:26 am

Looks like you are having an amazing time. I have never been to Target either! Looks like I need to take a road trip to the states. You look lovley in your white sun dress. Love your blog!

Susan March 23, 2010 at 9:27 am

Hi!! I’m catching up! I had TEN posts from you in my reader!! First and foremost, I still cannot get over that big, crunchy grass in Florida! Your pics all seem so “other-worldly” compared to the grossness that is New Brunswick now – cold, snow, sleet, slush. Ick.

I love running on vacation too – one of my favourite activities to do when away because I love the scenery :)

Bronwyn March 23, 2010 at 9:41 am

I love that white dress. Gorgeous!

Laura Georgina March 23, 2010 at 9:46 am

TARGET!!! The only way I can go in there safely is if I have an appointment–or somewhere to be–one hour later, otherwise I’d spend my life savings on their amazing stuff. Funny story: my sister did a stint of overnight stock work at Target while she was in college and she actually had to quit because it was too hard NOT to spend half her paycheck in there!

Kim B. March 23, 2010 at 9:59 am

My new sister-in-law just moved to the states from Canada to marry my brother and Target is her favorite thing about America (besides my brother of course).

Jayme March 23, 2010 at 10:16 am

i love hitting up target during trips to the states! i usually leave with as much greek yogurt as i can get my paws on and a cheap jug of protein powder. and a cute top. or 17 cute tops.
you + that white dress = stunning!

Jayme March 23, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Oh, another Jayme! I didn’t think there were others spelled like me :) I’m heading to Naples next weekend and cannot wait! I’m glad you’re enjoying your trip!!

Erin March 23, 2010 at 10:23 am

Oh I LOVE Target too! It’s tough living so close to one though! Lot’s of money lost to Target! I love all your pictures! Great job on your post. Looks like you guys are having a great time in Florida. Keep it up!

Kacy March 23, 2010 at 10:29 am

I love the dishes at Target. I usually always buy a new one when I go.

Kelly March 23, 2010 at 10:50 am

I absolutely love Target too, but it’s probably for the better that you don’t have one near you- I can spend SO much money there without even realizing it. Sure a lot of the stuff is cheaper, but some of it I may not buy otherwise :)

Looks like you are having a great time, can’t wait to see your adventures in Fort Lauderdale!

Lisa March 23, 2010 at 11:09 am

Glad you’re having a good trip. You’re looking beachy!

Midgetkeeper March 23, 2010 at 11:25 am

I love Target so much, can’t ever leave there without a ton of stuff.

Sorry about the car :(

Heather @ Side of Sneakers March 23, 2010 at 11:38 am

I get the same vitamins there- they’re just so cheap! I only wish they came in bigger containers so I didn’t have to get them so often ;)

Samantha March 23, 2010 at 11:50 am

I love target and those dishes I just saw when I was at home and absolutely loved!! I’m going to hope they go on clearance and get even cheaper! I used to work at Carrabba’s and in fact, it was my first job at 16. Definitely good food but a bit pricey. But I got half off everything so it wasn’t so bad!! What a neat trail. I wish more trails had fun things around them such as workout spots. Very nice post! Have a great day!!!

Nicole, RD March 23, 2010 at 11:51 am

What a great workout! I love the various exercises they had throughout! And I concur, Target = best store ever! Stir fry looks amazing — and great that the chef was so accommodating!

Jess - The Domestic Vegan March 23, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Wow, your vacation looks (and sounds!) like so much fun!!

I *LOVE* Target, too! Ah, the simple pleasures in life. I forgot that Canada doesn’t have any Target stores… Well, guess I can never move there. ;-)

Jenn @ LiveWellFitNow March 23, 2010 at 12:32 pm

Fabulous day you had!

I love seeing you and Eric exercising together. Anytime we can incorporate our friends, loved ones or family in workouts is a treat in my eyes! It provides me extra energy and motivation.

Christine (The Raw Project) March 23, 2010 at 12:46 pm

Target is fun, I especially love the clearance clothing section. That sucks about the rental car, sorry. My car got hit twice in the parking lot when I lived in Florida, must be something about Florida drivers, hmmm.

Kelly March 23, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Ah..Fort Lauderdale! That’s where I grew up! And yes, Target rocks!!! They have the most adorable..well, EVERYTHING!

Shannon March 23, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Love your vacay posts! I feel like I am right there with ya! You also made me want stirfry in a bad way. haha!

[email protected] March 23, 2010 at 1:19 pm

Cute dress!

If you go back to Target, I recommend the Mossimo long and lean tanks. I have them in pretty much every color they come out with. I wear them under everything and even to work out in once in a while. Can’t beat the price!

Mo March 23, 2010 at 1:42 pm

You know that you are a super happy person when a visit to Target can make you that excited! I kinda get that way too and I have one minutes away! It is an amazing store and I did not realize that you did not have them in ON.

You guys look to be having a fabulous time and I am happy for you! Have a safe trip tomorrow!

Ali @ Food, Fitness, Fashion March 23, 2010 at 2:17 pm

That looks like such a fun day! I loooove your white dress by the way!

Gena (Choosing Raw) March 23, 2010 at 3:42 pm

There is nothing I dislike more than an air salad! Glad the dinner salad was more fulfilling.

Stacey March 23, 2010 at 3:46 pm

I love working out when I’m on vacation. I know other people think I’m crazy but it’s so relaxing when you have all the time in the world. I have the best workouts when I’m on vacation.

Cynthia (It All Changes) March 23, 2010 at 3:48 pm

Target is my favorite store! I go in all the time to look around.

And so glad the chef was accommodating your needs.

Leah March 23, 2010 at 4:01 pm

I LOVE Target. Its so much fun – I could spend the whole day there and never run out of stuff to do.

kate March 23, 2010 at 4:45 pm

Target is pretty awesome. Im suprised it hasnt made its way to Canada. We were just in Ft Lauderdale a few weeks ago, the weather was perfect. Hope you enjoy it!

pam landy March 23, 2010 at 5:15 pm

dang girl, you have some self control. I am so impressed with your 1st ever target trip. I think I tried to buy the whole store the first time I went all by myself with my own money (and continue to keep buy more and more every time I go). I could live in Target!

pam landy March 23, 2010 at 5:16 pm

So glad you loved Target, it’s one of my favorite stores! When I lived in Thailand for a year, I missed it so much and I sounded just as in awe as you do when I came back to the States.

You totally inspire me to go for a run!

Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] March 24, 2010 at 1:06 am

YAY! I am sooo glad you loved Tar-jay! …and very surprised you came out with so little. Isn’t it so fun? Now I want to sniff Halle’s scent ; )

Nora March 24, 2010 at 2:38 am

Lol, was that your first time in Target or something? I’ve never heard someone gush so much about it!

Amanda March 24, 2010 at 11:18 am

Your Florida pictures look wonderful! While you were enjoying the flat terrain of FL, I for the first time was enjoying the hilly terrain of Parry Sound. It was my first time there. I am from Buffalo, NY but was visiting a friend. It was all HILLS for my daily runs!! I loved the challenge!
I also got to check out Fresh quickly before I hoped back on the bus for Buffalo. After reading about it here I couldn’t wait to try it. I got a delicious salad !! Thanks for writing about it!

Eliana >^..^ March 24, 2010 at 4:20 pm

I LOVE target, they have amazing products. Glad you got to enjoy it and hope you make there again before you leave. :O)

See you soon.

Gracie @ Girl Meets Health March 24, 2010 at 7:28 pm

LOVE the Miromar outlets!!! My ex-boyfriend’s family had a house in Florida and I went there a couple of summers in a row.

I’m in Florida for vacation right now too!! I’m in Port Charlotte and heading to Orlando tomorrow. I so badly want to go to the meet-up on Friday but can’t :( :( :( I’ll miss you!!

Kendall @ Whisk Her Away March 24, 2010 at 8:52 pm

Your vacation posts are making me feel like I’m on vacation! I love it!

I don’t know if there is a World Market near you in Florida, but you HAVE to check one out if spotted. I am obsessed with all of their foodie items – dishes, wine + beer, food. Love.
