Happy DECEMBURRRRRR!
And quite chilly this morning too.
Well, November ended with a BANG! And December started with a BANG!
Let me explain…
Yesterday, I was on Craigslist looking for a Christmas gift for Eric. And guess what I came across? A beautiful couch- for a crazy good price. I immediately emailed the seller and asked if we could take a look at it. I figured that it would be gone already because good deals sell so fast on Craigslist, especially in Toronto!
It was a dark brown sectional couch with a chaise (always wanted one!) and it was only a few months old and in mint condition. The owner was selling it because they were moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo (it is a BIG couch!).
Eric stopped by on his way home from work and…
We bought our very first couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every couch we have had up to this point has been a hand me down which is absolutely awesome, but we have secretly been longing for a couch that fit our new family room. After looking at prices earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t afford one.
He was shocked that it wasn’t gone already. He had to drive all the way to his brother’s to pick up a van, then drive back and put 1 part of the couch in the van, then drop it off, and then drive all the way back to Toronto to pick up the rest!!! He didn’t get home until about 11:30 last night. Poor guy!!!! I was at home waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Luckily, S & B kept me company. ;)

and will be great for entertaining!
…it is like brand new to us and our wallets are very happy. We figured that THREE lucky friends can crash on this couch at once! hahaha. ;) We are still university students at heart…
We will probably end up buying most of our furniture on Craigslist. You really can’t go wrong, 1) You save huge, and 2) You are recycling!! They have lots of cool antique pieces on Craigslist. Yes, there is a lot of crap to sift through, but it is so worth it. I also check out the FREE page a lot too! You’d be surprised how many people give away amazing things because they are in a rush.
The only thing we are not sure of is where to put our other brown couch. Right now it is here:
and it looks kind of odd…but we were thinking of keeping it around for our Christmas party.

I also want to find a coffee table off Craigslist as I don’t really like the one that is there now.
And why did Decemburrr start with a bang?
We have roofers here this morning and it sounds like an EARTHQUAKE in this house today! I swear they are going to fall through the roof on me. I woke up at 6am to BANG, BANG, BANG!!! I hit my alarm but it didn’t stop!

I liked it side ways where it was in the photo. If you’re just wanting to keep it around for entertaining through the holidays, I’d do that. After the holiday, I’d give it away (since it was given to you) or sell it for cheap. If I won a mat I’d choose infinity.
i would choose ocean :) also i think you should give your couch away! i mean you’ve gotten so many pieces of furniture from people’s kindness, why not repay the favor (not to the same people probably, but you get it)?!
I love the new sectional. I want one just like it, but my apartment is a 600 sq ft studio, so that won’t do!
Do you have a den or basement you could put the old couch for extra sleeping space? If not try a program like FreeCycle, which is like Craigs List in a way, but it is all exchange.

Wow the new couch is super cute! I would look into sticking the other piece in a completely different room. It is way to great to get rid of, but may look awkward in the same room. Find a place for that sucker ;)

As for that extra couch…I say keep moving it around the house… like everyother day find a new spot for it. Maybe even though a couch cover over it, change the color/texture to give it a whole new feel & keep it around for entertaining (4th friend crash out spot lol) As for the yoga mat… I’m really love the Solar… nothing like the bright orangy-yellow to perk a girl up! <3
You could put the extra couch in another room if you’ve got space for it – like a guest room or office – more seats/beds always come in handy! Or selling/giving it away on Craig’s list or to friends would be good too. We acquired our dining room table/chairs when friends of ours wanted to “upgrade”. As for the yoga mat – I’d have to go with the Violet I think. I like the Ocean and Seamist, and while I’ve had blue and green yoga mats before, I’ve never had a violet one! :)
I think you should donate it to the salvation army, and i choose purple!!
I would post it on craigslist for free as long as someone came to pick it up. Tada! I would go for the green. Green is calming and need as much of that as I can get.
Hmm I would want a violet mat! And I would definitely put the couch in my room, regardless of how ridiculous it would look there!
I agree that you should sell the couch on Craigslist after the holidays. Enjoy the extra seating for your holiday party.

I like the second position that you had for the couch that is more to the side of the fireplace for the party. Then I would sell it to help finance more craigslist furniture expenditures. I would pick the solar color yoga mat because it has to do with Family.
If you have space in other rooms, I would move the brown couch there. If not, you don’t really need the extra seating in that room anymore, so sell it! I’d choose the Ocean (blue) yoga mat for my husband. He recently started doing yoga with me, and really enjoys it! Right now he uses the extra yoga mat I have which is purple (the one I use is pink) and it is old and he skids all over the place!
I would keep the couch around, at least until after your party, extra seating can’t hurt! I would love the ocean yoga mat :)
I say sell it and use the money elsewhere in your home…though I do like where you have it now for the party. I would love the seamist green one!
I would donate the couch to a charity…and I love the seamist one!
Craigslist is so great. I would sell the couch on craigslist or give it to someone who can’t afford a new couch.
Oh and I would choose the Solar – that’s an awesome color.
I would curl up on your couch and watch a fun movie!

I like it back to back if you think you need the seating for your party, but then I’d sell or donate it!
