Run Like The Wind

September 6, 2010

Happy Labour Day! I hope you are enjoying a lovely day off and are sleeping in right now!

I like to spend my holidays by getting up at 4:15am. I am sick like that.

Let me rewind to last night…

The Dizzy Bizzy Board was stressing me out a bit. Actually, it was giving me the spins and I decided it had to go ASAP. ;)

 20100904-IMG_2231

Really, this was just an excuse for another Michaels trip… ;)

I emerged with new scrapbooking paper and the will to make a less dizzy & bizzy vision board.

20100905-IMG_2299

I decided that I would use a solid background colour (orange) and then accent with prints. Problem solved.

I have been using these double-sided photo stickers and they work like a charm!

20100905-IMG_2304

They come right off with no tearing. I also used a photo glue stick for a couple sections when necessary.

Here is the new vision board:

20100905-IMG_2311

Much more easy on the eyes. ;)

 20100904-IMG_2231 20100905-IMG_2311

I think it actually matches better with the warm colours + wood!

Side by side:

Some close ups…

20100905-IMG_2312

I like the ‘Trust’ over the heart!

20100905-IMG_2315

What a fun project!

Eric also hung this frame in a new spot (it used to be above my desk before the Mykonos painting went up).

20100905-IMG_2322 20100905-IMG_2323

The bookcase is still a work in progress, but it is getting there!

20100904-IMG_2219 20100905-IMG_2325

Then I went through all my personal and business files.

20100905-IMG_2271

When I was done, I moved my new 2010 file to an easily accessible spot by the fax/scanner. If it is out in the open I am much more likely to use it!

20100905-IMG_2326

Then I operated on our printer that all of a sudden decided to stop working this week! Hrmph.

20100905-IMG_2272

I got it to print black ink, but it is still rejecting the magenta ink that we installed. Very strange. I think we might have to get it serviced. Luckily it is still under warranty.

~~

This morning, I stumbled downstairs at 4:15am and ate some delicious vegan overnight oats that were waiting for me. It made getting up for the race a bit easier. :)

20100905-IMG_2334

Pre-Race Hydrating Mango & Strawberry Vegan Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 2.5 tbsp chia seeds <– lots of chia seeds because they are great for runners & very hydrating
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 mango, cubed
  • 3 strawberries, chopped

Here it is last night when I mixed them up. The mango was so good in this.

I better get on the road so I am not late!

Just a reminder that today is the final day that you can vote in the Portabella Playoff! Thanks for your support everyone. :)

It’s time for me to run like the wind….Eeeeee.

YAY the new vision board looks great!
I agree that the oranges match the warmth of your office better than the first board, although I did love that one as well. This is such a great idea! As a scrapbooker I think I will give one of these a go when I get a free day soon.
Best of luck for the race!

Much better! And I agree it ties in with the other oranges in the room. You’ve inspired me to do an inspiration board, haha. x

I liked both vision boards, but have to agree that the new one is easier on the eyes – and it fits beautifully in your office.

Hi Angela,
I’ve been wanting to try overnight oats, but I don’t know if it takes a special kind of oats. Can I use the slow-cooking, steel-cut oats in the overnight recipe? Thanks and best of luck at the race today!!

Hi Cami I am not sure about the steel cut oats…I *think* I have heard someone using it before but I am not 100% sure.
I just use regular rolled oats.
Goodluck! :)

Thanks Ange, I’ll give it a try. We may be talking about the same kind of oats -I use McCann’s.
Oh, and congrats on your super-fast race today!! :)

Good luck on your race!
Do you ever find that Chia gets bitter when you make it?
For some reason, I can’t get over the taste.

PS – I made the pumpkin oats this morning and I’m in bliss.
