Hellloooooo gorgeous.
Bake, pack, ship. Bake, pack, ship. Bake, pack, ship. Bake, pack, ship.
My ‘workout’ yesterday lasted 9 hours. A non-formal workout, but a workout none the less!
Unfortunately, fate did not have Avatar in our future last night. The only non sold out show was at 10:50pm. Seeing as the IMAX theatre is a 45 min. drive from us, we didn’t feel like getting home at 3am so we didn’t go.
We ended up just relaxing with a few friends and watching Conan’s last episode of Late Night- (sniff, sniff). Can I just say that man has Class, with a capitol C?!
I created my 4th Baked Breakfast cake experiment this morning.
My previous Baked Breakfast Cakes:
Refreshing Orange-Mint Baked Breakfast Cake
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup lightly toasted hazelnuts (filberts)
- 1/4 cup ground almonds
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not instant)
- 3/4 cup sweetened applesauce (or unsweetened + 1 T sweetener below)
- 2 t pure vanilla extract
- 4 fresh mint leaves
- 1 Tbsp agave nectar or maple syrup
- Pinch fine sea salt
- 1 T chia seeds (optional)
- 1 and 1/4 cups unsweetened almond, soy, rice, hemp milk
- 1/4 t raw maca powder (optional)
- 1 orange, peeled and sliced into chunks
![IMG_9932 IMG_9932](/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/IMG_9932_thumb.jpg)
Directions: Preheat oven to 350F. Grease three small oven safe dishes. Throw all ingredients except the orange into the blender and blend until smooth. Evenly distribute the batter into the dishes and then garnish with orange chunks. Pop in the oven for about 35 minutes at 350F or until golden brown. You can refrigerate for 4 days and they apparently freeze well too!
[Recipe adapted from the fabulous Ricki over at Diet, Dessert, n Dogs]
Makes 4 servings (does not include chia seeds or chocolate chips)

You know what goes well with orange?

I have some fun news- I am applying to the Oakville Organic Farmer’s Market this Summer! I spoke with the chair of the board yesterday and she thinks my Glo Bars would be a perfect fit for the market. This farmer’s market is amazing– all vendors must be organic, sustainable, use non-GMO products, etc. Everyone knows the farmer’s on a first name basis! It is just the market I have been looking for!!!
Should I be accepted I will need to move forward quite quickly with purchasing a tent, table, hiring help, and obtaining signage/marketing materials. It would be great to have a location for my customers in the GTA to purchase the bars and I would love to meet my customers in person too. It would be a fun change of pace!
Do you have a Farmer’s Market in your town? What’s it like?
I have another full day of baking ahead of me. I need to get caught up on the 1600+ Glo Bars that I sold last week. I don’t see a day off in my future for a while!
Have a great Sunday!! :D

WAHOOO!!! so excited about the market, I live in Oakville and love that farmers market!!! I am so excited for you to be there, Congratulations on everything I hope it all goes well!!!
How exciting for you! My aunt sells to a bunch of Farmer’s Markets in Toronto and does really well during the summer. I’m sure you’ll do really well too!
I think the farmer’s market will be amazing for your bars! and tons of fun. We have lots of local produce options here in rural Pennsylvania but unfortunately not in January :(
It is DEFINITELY worth the wait to see Avatar in 3D. I can’t even imagine how intense it would be in IMAX…be prepared to be completely sucked in; it was a gorgeous movie but I wasn’t prepared for how much it would affect me! Can’t wait to see what you think :)
Sketchie is a doll! What a beautiful coat he has!
The farmers market sounds awesome! I actually went to the winter version of ours yesterday. During the winter they do tend to have more baked goods, meats, cheese and seafood…. although I did find some yummy looking carrots. I hope it works out for you!
Another delicious looking cake! There’s a farmer’s market in Union Square I always mean to go to, but never can get there early enough!
I saw Conan’s last episode and you are so right, the guy has class.
Your cake looks amazing and just to let you know, I’m planning on ordering some of your bars today! I’m excited to try them!
Love farmer’s markets! I got almost every day during the spring and summer, there is one outside my work :-)
I thought Conan’s final words were so good, especially loved his comments about cynicism. I’ve always loved Conan and will miss him. Definitely will not be watching Leno
I am a huge fan of the Square One Farmer’s Market, but Oakville isn’t that much farther away in the opposite direction!!! What exciting news – I can’t wait to hear what come of this!
Breakfast looks so good!
You should totally sell your bars at a Farmers Market!!! We have a few in Minneapolis during the summer, and I look forward to them all week long! They have a bunch of unique things selling, not just produce. I wish your bars were selling at my local farmers market. Good luck! :)
I have a farmers market in my city, but it is tiny :-(
I do hope you end up at the Farmer’s Market, and that it is worthwhile venture for your Glo Bars. When my family’s jam company was still around, we tried the Farmer’s Market, but the costs of doing it outweighed the benefits unfortunately. Your bars are pretty awesome though, so it shouldn’t be a problem :)
I personally love my local farmer’s market. The prices are comparable to the cheaper grocery stores, according to my mom, but the produce is fresh and local.
I hope you get into the farmer’s market! I’m sure you’d be GREAT!
Yes, I have local farmer’s market in my home town. It wraps around all four sides of our town square every Saturday – I love it – especially in early Fall =)
I really need to get on the breakfast cake bandwagon!
AWESOME about the farmers market! Now that I am in Toronto I have access to a few really great farmers markets in the area. I will definitely be visiting you (or helping you if need be!) in the summertime if you get your spot =)
xo

Congrats about the Farmer’s Market Angela! I know that is a very exciting new step for you – before you know it you will have your own brick and mortar store! ;)
I LOVEEE farmer markets and am just sad that ours won’t reopen for many, many more months…
I love going to Union Square Market here in Manhattan. Even though it can be a little overwhelming, it’s just amazing!! We have another small on a few blocks away during the spring through the fall and it covers all the basics :)
I love that one too! I always make a point of going there when we visit New York. I need to stay somewhere with a fridge and a kitchen so I can really go to town with all the produce!! They have a couple of good banana bread stands there too.
CONGRATS!!! I wish you lived in Boston… I would totally be your worker.
