‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

A lesson I’ve learned: counting calories serves me no other purpose than to drive me crazy. That goes for daily weigh ins too. I guess that was two lessons ;)
“The thing to remember about labels is that you should avoid food with labels.”
“When your sense of worth exceeds your conditions, conditions will shift to match your vision.” Alan Cohen
I have learned that I need love myself before anyone else can. And in order to love myself I need to accept things and make efforts to change things in life that I want. I try to remember not to beat myself up over everything, there is another minute, another hour and another day. Move on and try harder next time.
“A body in motion stays in motion. A body at rest stays at rest.”
It’s only when I move my body that I feel my strongest. And I only want to feel strong, never weak.
Lesson learned- don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. You might just get it.

This is one of my favorite quotes from a health newsletter I subscribe to:
“Just like the earth, your brain does not discern what you plant. It will work just as hard to grow weeds as it will to grow beautiful flowers. You determine the seeds that are planted by what you say to yourself over and over. ”
The power of positive self talk is remarkable.
This is my first time to your site (my sister sent me because she said you have a lot of gluten free recipes) and I love it! It feels so wholesome.
One lesson I’ve learned in my journey is that the more I love my body, the better I feel and the more likely I am to take good care of her. When I pause to think about it…my body is freaking amazing! It heals itself. It serves me tirelessly even when I’m sleeping! And it’s covered with the most beautiful golden brown skin (I used to hate my skin color!)
Thank you for providing me with a space to be grateful for who I already am.
This comment isn’t about winning the give-away. I know how often you get comments thanking you for your inspiration, but I just needed to add my two cents of appreciation. Every time I am struggling with some part of my anxiety (which manifests itself into an eating disorder), I open up your blog and find that coincidentally, and somewhat magically, you have written a post about it that very day. You seem to know exactly what I’m going through at the very moment and exactly what to say to bring me optimism. It’s freaky, not gonna lie. I often share you’re views with my mom, who is very close to me and has struggled with an eating disorder and anxiety since she was 14. This morning she was venting her frustration with the number on her scale, and how she is eager to get it down before she leaves for vacation so she has “room to gain a few pounds on her trip, just in case.” I read her this post and she immediately told me to print it out for her so she can put it on her mirror. We both thank you.

Really hope I get to try the Glo bars! :)
My favourite quote:“The most beautiful people are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggles, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These people have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.”
I’ve learned that the combination of veganism (both for me and for the animals), trying to have a positive outlook, some weight training, a very loving and yummy husband, some close girlfriends, a little yoga, a silly funny dog or cat (or two or three in my case), lots of time cooking and experimenting with food and some good supportive family sprinkled in along the way — that these are the things I need in my life. Everything else is just clutter. So here’s to knowing what is important to YOU!
I was feeling very discouraged about how my training was going for my first half-marathon, and then I saw this quote:
“Dead Last Finish is greater than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start.”
It was all I needed to realize that just by trying, I was doing more than most people. I didn’t have to be the fastest, skinniest, strongest; just had to do it.
You only have one life to live! Why spend the time miserable and negative when you could enjoy every second instead??
“You must do the thing you think you cannot do” ~Eleanor Roosevelt
My mom always told me, if you think you can’t – you’re right. You CAN do anything you want to do. I’ve used that to overcome and accomplish more in life than I ever thought possible. I just rounded the corner and gave a high five to my 36th birthday and find myself not only in the best shape of my life, but also in a very healthy and happy place. The mind is a powerful thing. :)
I’ve learned that comparing yourself to other people will only lead to self-doubt. It’s best to focus on what makes you uniquely beautiful.
I learn new lessons each and every day…
No one can love you until you love yourself.
“Be happy for this moment, this moment is your life.”
Live in the now.
“Be the change you wish to see in this world” Gandhi.
I can’t wait for the new recipe!!
Being in a place where you’re not sure where you’re going or what you want to do is a beautiful place to be in. I often feel frustrated that I don’t “KNOW”, but I’ve learned to celebrate the fact that I’m at least aware, which is the first step in the right direction. :)
“The finish line is just the beginning of a whole new race.” –Unknown
I LOVE this quote. After crossing the finish line at my first triathlon I was incredibly happy and felt more accomplished than I ever had in my life. All the efforts of my hard work came to fruition. And then a few days later I realized I wanted more. That finish line was just the beginning to a whole new race! :)
I can’t regret the past or worry about the future. I can only live for today and live it to the fullest!
My favorite quote is: Phillipians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Awesome site!! (You have done so much baking. So ambitious)
