‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

I’m a major worrier… much like you I’m always thinking into the future, asking the ‘what ifs’ and worrying if my decisions I make today are the right ones for tomorrow. Every time I’m worried about decisions I am learning to ask myself the question, “Am I happy now? Is this the right decision for right now and does it align with my long-term goals?”. I try to remember that I can’t control the future and there is no telling what will happen so I just make sure that my decisions make sense right now at this present moment.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
– Marianne Williamson
“You cannot control the wind but you can adjust your sails” -Yiddish Proverb
The most important thing I’ve learned is that I am responsible for my own health and happiness. No outside force or other person is the reason I ate something unhealthy, skipped a workout, or let a negative person affect my outlook on life. If I take responsibility for these things, then I have the power to make positive change in my life. Also dealing with some anxiety issues, I am learning how to let go of the thoughts that cling and view situations with a realistic point of view.
“Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6,7
Great quote by Judy Garland: “Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” Love that!

My favorite quote is this one:
“Anything worth havings is definitely worth waiting”. I believe that big changes don´t happen and don´t have to happen overnight – it is a gradual progres made of many small steps and each step mean as much as (or maybe often even more than) the goal you are reaching for :)
Live each day as you feel. Don’t be hard on yourself if you dont do everything you need to do or everything that you had planned. Eventually it all comes around and all your feelings come back into place.
This as I am raising my three children including a 7 mo old and feeling I have had me head in the sand for 6 years!
Great post!
I have learned that life doesn’t stop and wait for you while you try to figure it out. I have learned to be more spontaneous and open to love and friendships! I have learned the benefits of letting loose and how letting myself be loved and cared for and by truly being open to my family, my friends and my boyfriend, I am happy and in turn everything else seems to work out just fine!
“No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch.”
I found this at a time when I was just getting started with running. I was considering giving up because my legs just wouldn’t go as fast as I wanted them to. I have copies of this quote all over my house.
What a great post! I really appreciate that you’ve had the courage to talk about such deep and emotional stuff, something that I find is often missing from healthy living blogs. One quote that has stuck with me for quite some time is from Elizabeth Gilbert’s book Eat Pray Love: “God resides within me as me.” I’m not a very religious person, but what I take this to mean is that there’s no “right” or “perfect” way to be, and that YOU as you are is the way you should be. It encourages me to embrace who I am and to love myself the unique way that God made me. Thanks again for an inspiring post!

What a powerful statement! I am a number chaser, always have been. Now that I’m getting older my body is changing in ways I have no control over and it’s really bothering me. I really needed to read that statement today. Thank you Angela. I have learned that no matter what the number on the scale is it doesn’t reflect the true person you are. You are not your weight. You don’t have to be the skinniest girl in the room to have a happy life, healthy relationships and people that love you.
My favorite quotes always vary (there are so many good ones!) but I find this one useful to keep in mind: “Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of traveling.”–Margaret Lee Runbeck . It reminds me that if I just concentrate on searching for things to make me happy, I’ll never stop to look at all that I have in the moment and realize that I already AM, and that happiness is not a tangible “thing,” but a state of mind.
oooo, thanks for the giveaway, angela!
“this world is but a canvas to our imaginations.” henry david thoreau
that is an awesome scale disclaimer!
Pay attention and bring awareness to what is important to you. Feelings and thoughts will come and go- they do not stick around forever and you do not have to act on them, but the more you want them to go away, the more they will stick around. A lot of the chatter in my mind – thoughts- are not true. Just because I think it does not make it truth.
I have learned you can’t control life. So live it healthily with a few junk food pit stops on the way!
I battled an eating disorder for 9 years, & it took me 2 years of counseling & actually trying to recover in order to beat it: but I did! I also know though, that I have to make time for me & respect my body in order to stay successful. It hardly feels like work anymore. Surrounding myself with supportive friends & family has also been important to my recovery.
…& I haven’t looked at a scale in months :) because it can’t tell me ANYTHING!
A gym I used to go to would put up “inspiring” quotes above all the water fountains and towel racks, including Kate Moss’s gem “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” Someone, thankfully, drew a big X over it and scrawled at the bottom, “Bitch, please, have you tried Nutella??” Thank goodness people have a sense of humor and realize that if you’re seriously living your life just to be skinny, you’re not really living! And that Nutella is insanely good.
“Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life.”
