‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

“My advice to you is, never lose your passion to dream.”
I’ve been coveting those GLO bars for the longest time…terrific giveaway! And, that Operation Beautiful note is brilliant! Finally, Ange, I’ve lurking for the longest time, so I feel I owe you many compliments (for your uncommon generosity w/your readers and your culinary genius to name a couple.)
The mantra that consistency serves to center and guide me is: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” – Ghandi
“Choose your own destiny– or someone will choose it for you”
“Excitement is doing something you’ve thoroughly convinced yourself you couldn’t do.” – Unknown
I’ve learned that the little things really do add up, that I’m much stronger than I ever knew, and that the world really is a beautiful, amazing place.
“ Somewhere along the line we seem to have confused comfort with happiness.”
I love this quote because it inspires me to take risks and embrace change. It’s what keeps us moving forward and growing in life!
The Dalai Lama said:
“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
I love this quote because it reminds us that the first step towards happiness is self-compassion. It’s hard to love others until you take steps first to love yourself!
no one can make you happy but yourself. some how some way you have to find it within you.
My favorite quote, which has given me so much inspiration in the past 8 months or so, has been:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” –Marianne Williamson
One of my favorites is…
“What a wonderful life I’ve had! I only wish I’d realized it sooner.” Colette
When I take the time to step back and reflect, I realize this but it’s something I struggle with and overanalyze much of the time.
I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned through my own journey is that my ship will not come in, I have to swim out to it. I waited for years to wake up and my amazingly happy life would be just handed to me but over the last couple of years it’s finally dawned on me that this will NEVER happen! If I want an amazingly happy life, I was going to have to make it and it could happen either now or later, whichever I preferred. So I started to make the steps to make it happen immediately. And I can quite honestly say that I now live an amazingly happy life! :)
Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It just means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections. I love this quote!
Never beat yourself up if you slip up, the slip doesn’t have to be a slide
I love food and I love to eat. Since I’ve embraced this, I eat slower, I choose quality over quantity and I’ve (mostly) stopped feeling guilty.
I have learned to be gentle to myself and love my body for all the positive ways it supports me :)
“I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve.” Jane Austen.
Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still. –Chinese Proverb
I love this quote and have it hanging in my office. Recovery from my eating disorder has been a slow journey, but at least I am making progress.
I’m not sure of the exact quote (or even who originally said it) but it goes something like this:
“Be yourself – because those who mind don’t matter…and those who matter, don’t mind”
Wow! Reading all these quotes and life lessons has been inspiring and uplifting!
My favorite quote is: “Take some time along the way to see whats nice about today”
~Strawberry Shortcake
I like this quote because it is a gentle reminder to stay positive and to see the good in every situation.
“I’m tired of following my dreams man, I’m just going to ask them where they are headed and catch up with them later.” – Mitch Hedberg
I know it’s a joke, but after the hell of high school and college the most important thing I’ve learned is to take it easy. :) Sure, I have goals and dreams, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have fun and relax.
