‘I don’t have a goal weight, I have a goal life.’
I heard this quote while watching an interview with an Extreme Weight Loss participant and it really clicked with me!
Along my journey, I realized that a certain number on the scale wouldn’t magically make my life perfect. For years I chased this number while becoming more and more unhappy.
I now focus on creating the life that I want, by taking small steps each day. It’s about how I feel each day when I wake up. If I wake up happy and eager to start the day, I know I’m on the right track. A certain number can’t dictate my happiness, but I can make changes in my life to feel my best.
While, I’m busy baking up orders today, I thought it would be fun to have a Glo Bar giveaway!
Leave a comment below sharing a lesson you’ve learned along your journey or simply share one of your favourite quotes.
One lucky winner will receive a delicious box of 10 Glo Bars! Goodluck!

Coming up, one of our favourite recipes so far in 2011….get excited!

I’m still learning, but I’ve found that the hardest and most thing in the world to give up is guilt. It’s so easy to beat myself up over every little slip-up, but as soon as I can learn to love and enjoy it all, things will be much better. I’ll get there!
I just heard this quote a couple of weeks ago and it gave me a chill as soon as I read it.
“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought” -Peace Pilgrim
I just heard this quote yesterday and it really clicked with me.
“When you say yes to everyone else, you are saying no to yourself.”
As a people pleaser, I often end up doing things for others that I don’t want to do or are bad for my health (stress, drinking, etc.) so I am going to keep this quote in mind!
Only as high as I reach can I grow,
Only as far as I seek can I go,
Only as deep as I look can I see,
Only as much as I dream can I be.
-Karen Ravn
You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.
-Henry David Thoreau
I love these two quotes and have them pasted up on my bedroom mirror, so it is the first thing I read in the morning, positively reinforcing my thoughts for the day. I have always been overly anxious about the future or fallen into the habit of dwelling on my past mistakes (the “what could I have done better” or” how I can be the perfect ‘X’ [friend, daughter, student, girlfriend, etc…]'”). I still find myself falling into the same habits, which has hindered me from really “going after” any of my dreams or ambitions. So, I decided to hang quotes up around the house to remind me that I NEED to start living and stop being so scared to make mistakes and accept myself entirely. The daily quotes, yoga, long runs, healthy eating, good reads, and strong friends help keep me focused and SANE lol.
“We have nothing but moments to live.” ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn
I suffer from anxiety and often get caught up in the small details. Recently, I have been trying to be more mindful, slow down and appreciate the wonderful life I have and accept the things I can not control.
One of my favorite quotes is from The Little Prince: “One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.”
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
Dr Seuss
I love making lists with “lofty wishes” (aka goals), but sometimes I’m either too scared to try them or don’t think I’m capable of doing it. So for me, the two quotes that get me going are: “The secret of getting ahead is getting started” (I think it was Mark Twain who said that) and the popular Nike quote “Just do it!”. Even if I don’t end up with my goal, I’m always a lot further ahead than if I had done nothing.
My favorite quote is a bible verse!!
“She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come. ” – Prov 31:25
so good and so true!
I will always remember this quote from one of my old Denise Austin DVDs- Finess isn’t stored, only fat is!!!!!
Motivates me to workout, even on vacation!!! :)
I’ve learned that the size printed inside your clothes doesn’t really matter at all. For years, I obsessed over being this size or that size. I kept thinking “if I could just get down to x size, x would happen”. I would spend waaaay too long in dressing rooms trying to squeeze my round hips into skinny jeans. It wasn’t pretty. But I’ve gotten older and maybe a bit wiser and now I don’t think that way so much anymore. I’ve learned that a 2 in one store can be a 10 in another, and that no one cares what size my jeans are, and that I just need to be happy with my body, not my size.
My friend told me something powerful that has stuck with me over the years:
“You can do anything, but not everything.”
Stop worrying about things that others don’t seem to be worried about. If I get anxious, others around me get anxious and it just puts everyone in a tense, bad mood. I try to live with a more relaxed attitude, and I think my health (and sanity) are thanking me!
This sounds like a tasty giveaway! :) One of my favorite lessons is definitely similar to the first photo. Your life cannot be dictated by a number on a scale. It is so much more important to be happy, healthy, and fit.
I moved from a small town in upstate NY to southern California 10 years ago. Everyone judges themselves very harshly here, on all of the physical things that don’t really matter. What I thought was beautiful in highschool is deamed only mediocre here. Instead of getting caught up in the mess, I work daily to be my true self and have to say 7 years of yoga has really helped to remind me to concentrate on my soul, my energy, my presence, not just my looks. This is a favorite quote from a book (sorry don’t know which book) that resonates with me:
Your treasure – your perfection – is within you already. But to claim it, you must leave the busy commotion of the mind and abandon the desires of the ego and enter into the silence of your heart.
i’ve learned that not stepping on the scale helps me not worry about what number I’m at this week. I judge more by how I feel inside my skin and I’m much happier not having a number floating in my head. NO SCALES! because honestly who CARES what you weigh? I feel beautiful just how I am- and that took me a long time to be able to say. Thank you Angela for all of our helpful, insightful and honest posts. I re-read them whenever I’m feeling not so good. Keep it up!
Our true home is in the present moment.
To live in the present moment is a miracle.
The miracle is not to walk on water.
The miracle is to walk on the green Earth
in the present moment.

I too have struggled with trying to stay in the moment. Thank you for continuing to share your story.
Don’t trade what you want for what you want right now.
I saw that in a magazine recently and it really struck me. I think about it when I hit that place in a workout when I really want to quit. Or when I want to keep eating when I know I’ve had enough. Remember the big picture!
“Not all who wander are lost.” – I saw that on a junkgypsy shirt and thought that it applies to my life pretty well. Not everyone has to follow a laid out path to find happiness in their life. The most backwards, out of the way and off the wall paths are sometimes the most memorable and fun. You tend to learn a lot more about yourself that way. I would love to try one of your GloBars too!
One of my favorite quotes is by Londrum Bolling.
“Forgiveness means giving up all hope of a better past.”
For me this was a powerful lesson. Not just in relationships and regrets, but for my journey to forgiving myself for every “mistake” I have made with my body. Those mistakes have taught me so many lessons, but I have to remind myself every day, that forgiving those mistakes means that I am giving up REGRET.
