This morning I had my green monster with my two favourite books. Our wedding album and Sketchie album. :) Both are albums that we made on blurb.com. If you haven’t checked out blurb.com before you MUST do so! You can design your own high quality photo albums for very little cost. Our Sketchie album was only $20!!!
In the green monster:
- 1 scoop Hemp + E3Live + Maca protein powder
- 1 cup almond breeze
- 3 organic kale leaves
- 5 organic dandelion sprigs
- 1 fruit kabob :D
After mixing, I realized that the fruit kabob made it a bit tart tasting and I added 1/2 frozen banana and 1 T almond butter. Then, it was pure heaven!! I find sometimes other fruits can taste a bit sour in GM’s. Anyone else?
Mid-morning snack:
Spelt cereal + soymilk + dried cranberries! Just lovely!
I also had half of one of my cooked granola bars:
It helped power me through my paper work this morning. I have lots of Glo Bakery things I am working on at the moment as well as preparing for another meeting on Thursday.
I hate a messy desk :( Must tidy later…
Lunch was another one of my awesome salad combos! The stars of the show were Pace salsa and Irresistibles Mandarin & Poppy Seed dressing (one of my favs!). You can get this dressing at any Metro/Dominion/A+P grocery store. We don’t go there often so hubby made a special trip to get this dressing for me. It is the same dressing I used on the spinach salad Sunday night for our family dinner. It is awesome with mandarins, walnuts, and cranberries!
Quite possibly the perfect salad combo today!!
Ingredients:
- 4 cup organic baby spinach
- 1/2 tomato
- 2 T ground flax
- 1 cup wheat berries (I am LOVING the wheat berries! You must try these!! Cook a batch up and it will last all week for quick meals)
- Pace salsa
I had it with a white hamburger bun slathered in Becel olive oil margarine. I don’t eat white bread much but when I am craving it, I must have it! It is so so good with the Becel. I also had a pear on the side.
I got a fun delivery too!
The wonderful Chelsey from Raincoast Books sent me these books for review! Awesome!
I cracked them open and can’t wait to read them. (Click to enlarge)
I had to do a ‘Five Good Minutes in Your Body’ exercise right away! I really liked this one on ‘body talk’:
I am not one for meditation, but I found that this exercise didn’t really feel like it. I don’t know about you, but my mind is always going a mile a minute! So it was nice to quiet my mind for a few minutes. These exercises can be done anywhere too. On the bus, stuck in traffic, at your desk at work, in a line-up, etc. I can’t wait to do more! Try this one today and quiet your mind. :)
Day 60 (May 26): Wow it is day 60 of the BBBC! Times flies!! There are only 6 days left of the BBBC! It is time to crank up the intensity a bit! On today’s menu are bent leg raises to target those glutes! I find I can never do enough butt exercises! Do 3 sets of 50 reps per leg. Add a dumbbell as shown in the picture (or you can use a soup can!).
BOO-YAH! :) Now go and tone that butt!
Today’s question: It’s time for a little feel good conversation! Tell me what you love most about your body- and WHY you like it! The things you always like whether you are having an off day or not! List FIVE- seriously do not leave this post until you have listed 5 things and you are feeling good about yourself! :) I’m not joking here! I want the lurkers to come out too and list 5 things! We all deserve to feel good about our bodies. right. now.
Mine:
- Shoulders/chest/neck area– WHY: I think I have a feminine neckline
- Smile– WHY: My family has been blessed with straight teeth! I was always asked if I had braces growing up- the answer is nope!
- Ankles/Feet– WHY: I think my feet are pretty nice- for feet anyways! LOL!
- Cheeks– WHY: I used to hate my round and full face, but now I realize that full faces don’t wrinkle as easily and they look younger- bonus! :)
- Tummy– WHY: Even though I’d like to change some things about it, I have been complimented a lot on how flat it is. I’m sure this will change once I have kids though. lol.
We need to appreciate our bodies as they are TODAY. Live in the moment and love your body just as beautiful as it is right now. That doesn’t mean that we can’t have goals or things we want to improve, but it means that you value what you have now, thus making the process more enjoyable!
Now list!
I’ve been in a horrible mood today and thought maybe this is just the thing to help pull me out of it!
1) Smile
2) Calves
3) Eyes (for years I thought/insisted they were brown, and have only recently accepted and embraced the fact that they’re hazel and change from dark brown to light brown/green)
4) Butt
5) Boobs
LOL, now I’m thinking I want to get out and run or something so I can feel even better!
1) My butt – it makes me happy how much my boyfriend loves it, too!
2) My collarbones
3) My arms and biceps – I’m slim, so people are always shocked at how ripped I am when I flex! I love it!
4) My legs – they’re strong, and can squat 200 lbs!
5) My eyebrows – they’re very expressive (my bf knows he’s in trouble when he gets the “raised-eyebrow” look)
1) My hair. It’s a pretty shade of strawberry blonde and I am always complimented on how thick and healthy it is!
2) My pale, freckled skin. For a long time I hated it but I am finally starting to see that it makes me stand out.
3) My petite height and build.
4) My teeny tiny breasts! Another part of me that has been under-appreciated in the past. They may be small, but they’re fantastic :)
5) My upper body. It is toned and strong but still feminine. I feel so pretty when I wear low cut tops.
This was a great idea – you put me in a great mood!
This took some time…here it goes…
1) My eyes. I’ve always been told I have gorgeous big blue eyes .
2) My hair. It gets soo wavey and I love it all natural.
3) My itsy bitsy waist.
4) My smile. Even though I’ve always thought it was too big..now that I’m older I see my mother in my smile soo much..its a beautiful thing.
5) My long body built. I’m petite but very tall and I love it.
I was iffy about doing this exercise but now I’m glad I did! Thank you :)
Okay, I’m game. :)
I like my shoulders because they’re shapely and have freckles on them.
I also think I have a feminine neckline and collarbone and such.
My feet are nice-looking!
I like my stomach because it’s super strong.
I have really long eyelashes.
That’s fun, Angela! I certainly feel better now, thanks. :)

The Sketchie book is adorable! Love the cover :)
1. My freckles
2. My leg muscles from running
3. My long kneck line
4. My little nose
5. My eyes
1. My eyes – they’re hazel with brown flecks. I’ve been told they look like chocolate chip cookies. They often take on a green glint that matches my yellow sapphire engagement ring.
2. Mt abs. The six-pack I had from 12 years as a competitive swimmer has more or less stuck around (with regular maintenance, of course!)
3. My calves. I actually have a love/hate relationship with these, as they’re very ‘strong’ looking, but I get a lot of compliments on them from other athletes. So, I’m learning to love them.
4. My smile. It’s totally genuine – between that and my eyes, I can’t hide anything in my face.
5. My pinkie fingers. They’re both crooked from the top knuckle up, so that when you put them together, they make a Y.
Thanks for this :)
Those workouts for your butt are killer. If you made a modification and make them cross overs. Go up, then when coming back down take your knee to the outside of the down leg. Then go back up and straight back down. Up, crossed down, up, down. Feel that one :)
Five things I love:
1. My hair, naturally blonde
2. My collar bones…I love them
3. My waist–I have a small waist and love wearing belts
4. My cheek bones..I never used to have them, but since losing 100lbs they’ve popped out…
5. My toe nails, especially painted
Smiling. Thanks for that.
Great question Angela. Every once in a while we need to slow down and appreciate ourselves!
1. My naturally straight teeth
2. My wicked perky, just the right size breasts
3. My eyebrows that have a great natural arch
4. My scars that each have a story to tell
5. My body’s ability to keep fighting for another day
It’s sad how hard it is to think of 5 things. Thank goodness it’s not more.
1. my smile – I have always had nearly perfectly straight teeth. I’ve had people comment for years on how straight they are.
2. my eyes – I absolutely love my eye color. I don’t think it would be described as hazel, but it definitely doesn’t fit into any other color either, and I love the color they are.
3. my hair – I have really straight hair, and it’s always been really healthy.
4. my legs – Even though I will always envy those girls who have thin and muscular legs, I love my legs because they are so strong, and they’re getting stronger all the time.
5. my nails – My nails always grow quickly and they’re very strong. I know a lot of women who would kill for nails like mine.
This was hard! – which I guess means it was good :-/
I have the world’s best, strong, healthy, beautifully shaped fingernails (thanks dad for the great genes!)…and… I like my ears, arms, neck, and eyebrows too.
1. my smile!
2. my quads – who knew they could get so strong??
3. my slender fingers (my mom calls them “piano fingers” lol)
4. my collarbone area – it makes me feel feminine :)
5. my eyes – blue like dad’s…
thanks for the reminder to love & appreciate our bodies right NOW as they are! it’s so easy to take these things for granted and/or fail to stop and appreciate what we’ve got.
Oh my goodness, this IS tough! In the past, I have found fault with every single part of my body, even inside organs .. how pathetic!
Anyways, here goes: I do like
– my body’s health – I’m rarely sick, and, except for giving birth, I’ve never been taken to hospital so far!
– my eyebrows – they are not curved but have a rather sharp edge
– my feet – they look cute in sandals (esp with painted toe nails, which I have hardly time for)
– my hands and my wrists – in my opinion, the only parts of me which look delicate and graceful (although for a woman I have quite big hands)
– my hair – it’s thick and healthy, and I have plenty of it!
Your positivity is quite contagious, thanks Angela!
I would love to review those books! Lucky girl!
I have no idea if we have wheatberries here. I’m going to look for them.
Now, my list:
1- my smile!
2- arms
3- feet
4- hair
5- back
:)
my feet, my butt, my overall slenderness, my scars, my square jaw/clef chin.
Hmmm. There are days that I wish I could go trade my body in for another model. And then there are days that I’m glad for what I have. Let’s see.
1. Fingers, especially my finger nails. For my wedding, several folks asked about my perfect manicure (truth: I’ve NEVER had a manicure in my life — nails always look good just filed).
2. Bust
3. Waist
4. Lips and smile
5. Teeth
Love your blog!!! Just stumbled upon it today and I’m hooked…can’t stop reading through all the old posts :)
1. I love my delicate wrists and ankles, reminds me of my mom’s side of the family
2. I love my back from the nape of my neck all the way down to my bum…It’s strong and graceful at the same time
3. I love my boobs, nice and small enough that I don’t have to wear a bra all the time and they don’t hinder me during athletics…that’s pretty important in my book!
4. Small waist and big hips. Makes buying jeans tough because there always seems to be a gap in the waist, but I like having big hips and a small waist.
5. My bum. I loved it when I was 30 pounds stronger and it was really big and strong. And now I have learned to love the smaller less strong version of itself as it is now.
Thanks for this and I shall be looking forward to reading your blog in the future!
