This morning I had my green monster with my two favourite books. Our wedding album and Sketchie album. :) Both are albums that we made on blurb.com. If you haven’t checked out blurb.com before you MUST do so! You can design your own high quality photo albums for very little cost. Our Sketchie album was only $20!!!
In the green monster:
- 1 scoop Hemp + E3Live + Maca protein powder
- 1 cup almond breeze
- 3 organic kale leaves
- 5 organic dandelion sprigs
- 1 fruit kabob :D
After mixing, I realized that the fruit kabob made it a bit tart tasting and I added 1/2 frozen banana and 1 T almond butter. Then, it was pure heaven!! I find sometimes other fruits can taste a bit sour in GM’s. Anyone else?
Mid-morning snack:
Spelt cereal + soymilk + dried cranberries! Just lovely!
I also had half of one of my cooked granola bars:
It helped power me through my paper work this morning. I have lots of Glo Bakery things I am working on at the moment as well as preparing for another meeting on Thursday.
I hate a messy desk :( Must tidy later…
Lunch was another one of my awesome salad combos! The stars of the show were Pace salsa and Irresistibles Mandarin & Poppy Seed dressing (one of my favs!). You can get this dressing at any Metro/Dominion/A+P grocery store. We don’t go there often so hubby made a special trip to get this dressing for me. It is the same dressing I used on the spinach salad Sunday night for our family dinner. It is awesome with mandarins, walnuts, and cranberries!
Quite possibly the perfect salad combo today!!
Ingredients:
- 4 cup organic baby spinach
- 1/2 tomato
- 2 T ground flax
- 1 cup wheat berries (I am LOVING the wheat berries! You must try these!! Cook a batch up and it will last all week for quick meals)
- Pace salsa
I had it with a white hamburger bun slathered in Becel olive oil margarine. I don’t eat white bread much but when I am craving it, I must have it! It is so so good with the Becel. I also had a pear on the side.
I got a fun delivery too!
The wonderful Chelsey from Raincoast Books sent me these books for review! Awesome!
I cracked them open and can’t wait to read them. (Click to enlarge)
I had to do a ‘Five Good Minutes in Your Body’ exercise right away! I really liked this one on ‘body talk’:
I am not one for meditation, but I found that this exercise didn’t really feel like it. I don’t know about you, but my mind is always going a mile a minute! So it was nice to quiet my mind for a few minutes. These exercises can be done anywhere too. On the bus, stuck in traffic, at your desk at work, in a line-up, etc. I can’t wait to do more! Try this one today and quiet your mind. :)
Day 60 (May 26): Wow it is day 60 of the BBBC! Times flies!! There are only 6 days left of the BBBC! It is time to crank up the intensity a bit! On today’s menu are bent leg raises to target those glutes! I find I can never do enough butt exercises! Do 3 sets of 50 reps per leg. Add a dumbbell as shown in the picture (or you can use a soup can!).
BOO-YAH! :) Now go and tone that butt!
Today’s question: It’s time for a little feel good conversation! Tell me what you love most about your body- and WHY you like it! The things you always like whether you are having an off day or not! List FIVE- seriously do not leave this post until you have listed 5 things and you are feeling good about yourself! :) I’m not joking here! I want the lurkers to come out too and list 5 things! We all deserve to feel good about our bodies. right. now.
Mine:
- Shoulders/chest/neck area– WHY: I think I have a feminine neckline
- Smile– WHY: My family has been blessed with straight teeth! I was always asked if I had braces growing up- the answer is nope!
- Ankles/Feet– WHY: I think my feet are pretty nice- for feet anyways! LOL!
- Cheeks– WHY: I used to hate my round and full face, but now I realize that full faces don’t wrinkle as easily and they look younger- bonus! :)
- Tummy– WHY: Even though I’d like to change some things about it, I have been complimented a lot on how flat it is. I’m sure this will change once I have kids though. lol.
We need to appreciate our bodies as they are TODAY. Live in the moment and love your body just as beautiful as it is right now. That doesn’t mean that we can’t have goals or things we want to improve, but it means that you value what you have now, thus making the process more enjoyable!
Now list!
I too had a tough time coming up with five items. I know that I’m too hard on myself. I can always see things that I want to improve, nothing seems perfect ‘as is’, you know?
1) Strawberry blonde hair – it’s unique!
2) Eyes – they’re big and very expressive.
3) Breasts – never had a complaint about the size. ;)
4) Freckles – I know it’s not technically a body part, but I love ’em anyway!
5) Stomach – I need to tone this area, but regardless I think it’s very feminine.
Thank you for this thought-provoking question Angela!
what cute books!
lol. Fine I’ll list. :P
1. Eyes. I can see into your soooullll. Naw, my eyes have always been my best feature and I’m complimented on them time and time again. My boyfriend says it’s not the shape or color, but the way my eyes look innocent and good-hearted. Weirdo. I have a great eye shape, and lucky green eyes and eyelashes that make other girls jealous. Oh yeah, I love my eyes.
2. Breasts! Woohoo! They will ALWAYS be a barrel of fun. They can sag, they can grow, they can get smaller, but because they’re mine and they’ll always be squishy, I love them.
3. Shoulders. They look strong and lean. I look like I can tear a phone book in half and punch you into a flatcake when I show off my shoulders. AND I LOVE IT! I can’t really do any of those things (yet.. working on the phone book thing), but I like the strong look my shoulders have. It makes me feel super duper.
4.Handsies – They’re CUTE! Tiny and very feminine. :D I swear, everyone has bigger hands then I do, and I usually have a lot of trouble opening jars because of my hands, but I really like the cuteness factor of them.
5. Legs. These suckers are lovely. Okay, they’re not the sexiest legs out there, BUT they’ve served me well. They’re feminine, they still jiggle, but they also have lean muscle that helps me propel through my workouts with strength and vitality. They’re cute in their own way, I think.
I feel like I’m giving myself too much credit. lol. When you take apart your body and think about the things you like about it, somehow the whole image seems a lot better.
Confidence +1. Teehee. Great post!
Okay, I’m one of those lurkers. Been reading for a couple of weeks- very cute blog! You’re so perky in all of your posts. Love the enthusiasm.
5 things I love about my body:
1. Boobs. I used to hate them when I was younger and they appeared overnight in middle school but I have grown to love them.
2. Butt. I’ve never been self-conscious of it. Not too big, not too small, just kinda hangs out back there and looks cute. :o)
3. Calves. Look great, especially in a pair of heels!
4. Eyes. If you catch them at the right angle in the sun, you can kinda see through them. Wierd, but cool. I was also blessed with long eyelashes.
5. Hair. Natural highlights- I will never dye it. And, I can rock both curly and straight styles.
How refreshing it is to focus on the positive.
1) My Eyes- they are bright and radiant when not sleep deprived. Also they stand out when I am with my friends who have blues and greens and I have a dark brown!
2) My shoulder
3) My dimples, one is prominent than the other.
4) My straight, soft and shiny hair
5) My skin color. The Indian brown pops out when in a crowd :~~))
one more please
6) My face structure, neither square nor round!
Hm, my five things:
1. My eyes. I’ve always been complimented on my eyes – they used to be blue, but transitioned to more green as I’ve gotten older and when I’m upset, they have a lot of gold/yellow in the center.
2. My collarbone/neck – I think I have a slender, flattering neckline.
3. My nails – Thanks to my vitamins and my daily Green Monsters, my nails have grown so much and are so much healthier!
4. My hair – Also thanks to the Green Monsters and better nutrition, my hair has grown so quickly and it’s so much healthier than it used to be.
5. My legs – they’ve carried me through 6 half marathons and a full marathon and they’re going to get me through 4 months of tough training in preparation for the Marine Corps Marathon this year!
Great topic today, Ang. So nice to focus on the positive, even if just for a few minutes today. It definitely brought a smile to my face. I’m also planning to try the exercise while I’m flying back from Boston to NYC tonight and take note of what my body is telling me. Hopefully it’ll make the flight more enjoyable too!
Lastly, I agree that adding berries can make Green Monsters a little tart. I’ve found I really need to have 1/2 a banana to temper some of the other flavors, like the kale or some berries. It’s nice to have the variety though, and I’m sure it’s beneficial to have different nutrients sometimes.
Have a wonderful afternoon!
-My toned legs (even better in heels!)
-My juicy butt! (Pete actually likes it better now, after kids than when he first met me!) :)
-My straight teeth :)
-The muscle definition in my arms
-My long hair

I want to play!
-my straight teeth (thanks for paying for the braces, mom!) that stay naturally white despite my coffee/red wine habit.
-my scrumptious booty (that the boyfriend loves)
-my blue/green eyes (they change depending on the color of what I’m wearing)
-my calves (I hated them when i was younger because they’re big but now I appreciate their shape and muscularity!)
-my boobs (they’re fake but worth every dime and I love them! lol After I lost weight there was no exercise that would ever help the girls. So I helped myself!)
1. Small boobs – they should never sag. :)
2. Great lips for lipstick
3. Green eyes with LONG lashes – I am often asked if they are real (yes!)
4. Long legs for a 5’3″ body
5. Petite hands
Lucky for all of you with naturally straight teeth. I just got braces for the second time so I am definitely envious!
Oh have I ever enjoyed reading all of these!!! Seriously all of you rock! ~Ange
Holy hot mama! I just made one of your green monsters and I am beside myself at how good it tastes and how much of an instant improvement I am feeling! I have been cooped up in my apartment sick as a dog for the last 3 1/2 days and I wanted something to make me feel better and chicken soup wasn’t gonna do it. I decided now is as good a time as ever to try out the shake, and I am hooked! Seeing Caitlin’s skin improvements with the monsters, I am striving to have one myself everyday for a month.
I added some fresh mint leaves and ginger to mine as well. It’s refreshing!
This wasn’t as hard as I thought!
-Love my green eyes, kind of a unique color
-Love my clear skin, never have break outs!
-My hips, they are in good porportion to the rest of my body
-My butt, not really my favorite thing, but my boyfriend raves about it, so that makes me happy!
-My long slender fingers, my mom told me when I was born that she thought I would be a pianist because of how long my fingers were. Never did though!
Great exercise Angela!
