This morning I had my green monster with my two favourite books. Our wedding album and Sketchie album. :) Both are albums that we made on blurb.com. If you haven’t checked out blurb.com before you MUST do so! You can design your own high quality photo albums for very little cost. Our Sketchie album was only $20!!!
In the green monster:
- 1 scoop Hemp + E3Live + Maca protein powder
- 1 cup almond breeze
- 3 organic kale leaves
- 5 organic dandelion sprigs
- 1 fruit kabob :D
After mixing, I realized that the fruit kabob made it a bit tart tasting and I added 1/2 frozen banana and 1 T almond butter. Then, it was pure heaven!! I find sometimes other fruits can taste a bit sour in GM’s. Anyone else?
Mid-morning snack:
Spelt cereal + soymilk + dried cranberries! Just lovely!
I also had half of one of my cooked granola bars:
It helped power me through my paper work this morning. I have lots of Glo Bakery things I am working on at the moment as well as preparing for another meeting on Thursday.
I hate a messy desk :( Must tidy later…
Lunch was another one of my awesome salad combos! The stars of the show were Pace salsa and Irresistibles Mandarin & Poppy Seed dressing (one of my favs!). You can get this dressing at any Metro/Dominion/A+P grocery store. We don’t go there often so hubby made a special trip to get this dressing for me. It is the same dressing I used on the spinach salad Sunday night for our family dinner. It is awesome with mandarins, walnuts, and cranberries!
Quite possibly the perfect salad combo today!!
Ingredients:
- 4 cup organic baby spinach
- 1/2 tomato
- 2 T ground flax
- 1 cup wheat berries (I am LOVING the wheat berries! You must try these!! Cook a batch up and it will last all week for quick meals)
- Pace salsa
I had it with a white hamburger bun slathered in Becel olive oil margarine. I don’t eat white bread much but when I am craving it, I must have it! It is so so good with the Becel. I also had a pear on the side.
I got a fun delivery too!
The wonderful Chelsey from Raincoast Books sent me these books for review! Awesome!
I cracked them open and can’t wait to read them. (Click to enlarge)
I had to do a ‘Five Good Minutes in Your Body’ exercise right away! I really liked this one on ‘body talk’:
I am not one for meditation, but I found that this exercise didn’t really feel like it. I don’t know about you, but my mind is always going a mile a minute! So it was nice to quiet my mind for a few minutes. These exercises can be done anywhere too. On the bus, stuck in traffic, at your desk at work, in a line-up, etc. I can’t wait to do more! Try this one today and quiet your mind. :)
Day 60 (May 26): Wow it is day 60 of the BBBC! Times flies!! There are only 6 days left of the BBBC! It is time to crank up the intensity a bit! On today’s menu are bent leg raises to target those glutes! I find I can never do enough butt exercises! Do 3 sets of 50 reps per leg. Add a dumbbell as shown in the picture (or you can use a soup can!).
BOO-YAH! :) Now go and tone that butt!
Today’s question: It’s time for a little feel good conversation! Tell me what you love most about your body- and WHY you like it! The things you always like whether you are having an off day or not! List FIVE- seriously do not leave this post until you have listed 5 things and you are feeling good about yourself! :) I’m not joking here! I want the lurkers to come out too and list 5 things! We all deserve to feel good about our bodies. right. now.
Mine:
- Shoulders/chest/neck area– WHY: I think I have a feminine neckline
- Smile– WHY: My family has been blessed with straight teeth! I was always asked if I had braces growing up- the answer is nope!
- Ankles/Feet– WHY: I think my feet are pretty nice- for feet anyways! LOL!
- Cheeks– WHY: I used to hate my round and full face, but now I realize that full faces don’t wrinkle as easily and they look younger- bonus! :)
- Tummy– WHY: Even though I’d like to change some things about it, I have been complimented a lot on how flat it is. I’m sure this will change once I have kids though. lol.
We need to appreciate our bodies as they are TODAY. Live in the moment and love your body just as beautiful as it is right now. That doesn’t mean that we can’t have goals or things we want to improve, but it means that you value what you have now, thus making the process more enjoyable!
Now list!
– my strong arms
– my perfectly sized breasts (hehe)
– my flirty long eyelashes
– my sexy neck
– my cute bouncy butt! :)
bonus #6 – my straight teeth!
this was fun! :)
-my bootylicious booty
-my green eyes
-my lips
-my shiny straight hair
-my boobs :)
Wow, this was tough. It kind of makes me sad it was hard to come up with 5 things. I definitely need to work on that.
1. My eyelashes – they are super long and people always ask me if I am wearing fake eyelashes.
2. My feet – they are a size 6 or 6 1/2 and I think that’s a perfect size:)
3. My hair – I love my long, thick, shiny hair!!
4. My butt – I have a ba donk a donk (spelling?) but I embrace it and love it!
5. My fingers!
Awesome keep em coming!!
– My muscular legs
– My dainty wrists
– My eyebrows b/c I can raise either one sarcastically :)
– My high cheekbones (probably the #1 feature people comment on)
– My size 7 feet are the perfect size and are pretty cute
-bonus #6 I am feeling particularly pleased with my upper abs today. I can tell all the planks I’ve been doing are paying off b/c my muscles are really hard. :)
1) My long legs: I am 5’11 and all of my height is in my legs. From running, swimming and doing yoga they have nice lean muscle on them
2) My long eyelashes: I wear my contacts almost all of the time because if I wear my glasses they rub against the frame
3) My arms: from yoga they have a nice muscle definition and I love wearing sleeveless shirts because of it
4) My stomach: I’m starting to show some muscle through it and it lays nice and flat
5) My bum: I definately have child bearing hips and from my small waist to my larger hips I have a nice shape-and from behind I’ve always been told how nice my bum is. I spend way too much money on jeans to help emphasis :)
Thanks Angela- it’s always nice to take a minute to appreciate our physical selves.
Hmmm… how sad is it that 5 things is tough?
1. My pointy ears. I know it’s totally weird, but they’re not perfect and have a slight “point” to them. I’m told that babies today have this imperfection fixed at birth… I’m glad my parents didn’t have that option. They’re unique :)
2. My little hands. They feel so tiny compared to hubby’s huge ones!
3. My single dimple – makes me lopsided but unique!
4. My lips.
5. My shoulders.
(I had to struggle to come up with one that was BODY related – need to work on that!)
Great challenge!
1. My red hair – I like that it makes me unique!
2. My arms – they’re naturally slender
3. My calves – they’re so muscular! I love their shape
4. My breasts – good size and shape ;)
5. My narrow waist – good genes!
1. My hands: Although small, my fingers are long and slender. Probably the only elegant part of my body!
2. My neck: It’s long!
3. My bum: My husband LOVES it, which makes me feel a million times better about it.
4. My shape. I may still have some fat to lose, but I love that I have a curvy figure.
5. My legs: I’ve always had muscular legs from sports and cycling to and from work.
I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now and wanted to let you know that I love it! Great idea giving us the opportunity to reflect on what we love about ourselves. I’m still trying to lose some fat and gain muscle, but my biggest problem is overcoming all of the negative self-talk. I want to love my body, and exercises like this serve as a reminder that it’s so much more nurturing and useful to compliment ourselves than to constantly put ourselves down. The latter is just counterproductive! Thanks for the positivity.
1) My clear skin – I never seemed to go through any adolescent spotty phase and now that I am 37, I guess I’m safely through!hah
2) Tiny waist (a nicer way to look at it – I try not to focus on the wide hips…)
3) Nice legs
4) Fingernails that naturally seem to look shaped
and
5) BRAIN!! No one can see it, but it’s definitely my best body asset and makes everything else possible …
Hey Angela, this was fun!
oh Angela hi honey!!
I love this post. I think it’s hard and doggone it… it should NOT be!
Love ya and thanks for your beautiful blog, green monster diva. ;)
okay… Pol loves about Pol…
1. Happy personality… it comes natural to be joyful.
2. Big smile (after 2 sets of braces)
3. Happy eyes (blue like my daddy’s)
4. bubble butt (yes, thank you very much)
5. poof belly (somedays I hate that it will never ever be flat. but then I guess it’s kinda just me. I have super long legs, so I look sorta like a lollipop) :)
Love you! XOXO
Great idea!
– I’m funny
– I love my strong legs
– I’m proud of my school accomplishments
I love this post Angela! We all need to take some time and to sit back and admire the beauty each of us already has!
1. My thighs – I love how strong and shaped they are
2. My smile – I have huge, beautiful lips
3. My teeth – I’m obsessed with keeping them clean and sparkly white
4. My skin – it always has a slight tan, and my burns from sitting in the sun will ALWAYS turn into dark tans the next day
5. My ears – They have a PERFECT ear-shape!
Thanks Angela! :)
I like that: if your body had a voice, what would it say to you? My body is telling me to get my butt of the couch and get the laundry, but first I’ll give you my list :)
1. My legs. Why? I’m tall-ish and it all comes from my long, slender legs.
2. My bottom. Why? Well, I can’t actually see it. But it’s the number one compliment I get from my boyfriend! :P
3. My eyes. Why? I have biiiig blue eyes. And long lashes to boot.
4. My shoulders. Why? They’re pretty buff at the moment and I feel pretty rockin’ when I wear halter tops now :)
5. My lips. Why? Full and naturally red!
I am the proud owner of:
Two sexy, strong legs
Two nicely shaped boobs
One flat stomach
One slim, toned waist
Two big, green eyes
I am a lurker on your blog, I love it! And I can name 5 things I love about my body!
1. my hands
2. my collarbone area, and sholders
3. strong quads
4. my hips
5. my butt
Thaks Angela, it is good to think about these things!
1.My smile
2.My eyes
3. My curves
4. My hair (when I take time to fix it :) )
5. My nose (I think it would be a good home for a stud)
Let’s see; I like:
My strong legs
My very soft, straight hair
My chest; not too big, not too small
My petite bone structure
The little muscles building on my arms :)
Now, I have a question for you! I was very intrigued by all of those books, I hadn’t heard of any of them. I was wondering about the strong bones one … is it quite useful for dairy-free, or is there a lot of recommendations of dairy products to build strong bones? Thanks Angela!
Wow, this is hard for me to do, but I’m doing it cause you said we HAVE to! ;)
1) Lips
2) Eye lids/eye brows
3) Stomach
4) Neck/upper chest/sternum area (haha!)
5) Square chin (it’s seriously square!)
Thanks for forcing me to change the way I think about my body, food and exercise! <3
