We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

This is so exciting! I would LOVE to be a recipe tester for your next book! I honestly could not have gotten through cooking dairy free and gluten free without your recipes! I was already vegan but when my boyfriend and I found out he had an allergy to gluten it was so hard to cook for us. I always tell everyone about your blog and cookbook because everything taste good! I can’t wait for the second book to come out and I hope that you pick me :) Thanks for the opportunity!
Very excited you are making another cookbook! I trial new (new to me anyway) recipes all the time from library cookbooks, but I also have several standbys that I’ll make at least once a month. I love variety and I’m looking forward to getting more healthy this year, so thanks for the opportunity!
I would love to test your recipes from a Celiac prospective (I can’t do gluten or soy – freckledceliac.wordpress.com). I’ve been creating recipes for years and followed your blog for quite awhile. Your recipes are incredible. I’m fairly good with photos and write-ups and can send you step-by-steps of our testing if you would like.
Also, I am friends with several other food-allergy sufferers (such as a friend with UC who is dairy/spicy food free–though she loves soy) who also love cooking whole foods and would enjoy making/testing them with me. We definitely have time to test 3 recipes.
I have been trying to expand my Celiac-friendly recipe box, so this would be a great opportunity. I am happy to either keep it confidential or write up and link reviews to you on my blog, depending on your preference.
Thanks!
How exciting!!! Your first cookbook is incredible – I am thrilled to hear that a second is in the works! In reflecting on how much my taste buds have developed over the years, I must say that I never quite envisioned myself enjoying vegan cooking as much as I have over the past year. Thank you for your insightful blog posts and mouth-watering creations that have given me a whole new outlook on nutrition and the pure pleasure of food.
Hi there!
I have been a loyal follower of you blog for almost three years, and I rely on it heavily for new ideas in the kitchen. Anyway I would love to be a recipe tester, but I understand that a lot of people will be applying. You mentioned that you would like a varied skill-level and I am a sophomore at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. This means that I have a full knife kit, food scale, and live in a dorm with a Viking Kitchen. If you need connections to chefs, I can talk to any of my professors. They are all extremely knowledgeable, and love challenging recipes. Nonetheless, good luck on your next cookbook!
Love and Congratulations on your beautiful, glowing baby!
Emily
So exciting!!! I applied to be a tester, and for my own selfish reasons, Hope I am chosen! I am a stay at home mom to two semi-picky kids, ages 7 and 11. I also have a carnivorous husband. I’m lucky enough to stay at home, love and know how to cook well, own more kitchen tools and gadgets than ever needed, and live less than 3 miles away from four major grocery stores. My rule is to always follow a recipe to the letter the first time, make notes as I go, ask for feedback from the fam, then adjust as necessary the next time around.
I’m actually a bit of a stickler about this, and read cookbooks like text books. An example: My husband works for a huge, international resort and gaming company, and a famous pastry chef worked at one if his hotels. Sweets are my downfall, and my husband was kind enough to get me a copy of her cookbook and had her autograph it. However, the first recipe I tried had a typo in it! It wasn’t an obvious typo, but an ingredient measurement that I knew had to be off. I told my husband, and he said he had to tell her. I told him “NO”! She’s a renound chef and I’m just a home cook/baker! He told her anyway though, and sure enough, it was a mistake that no one caught, including her! I got a new reprint of her book, and my husband got bragging rights as he loves to tell people that his wife is so good in the kitchen that she even corrects famous pastry chef’s recipes! Now, if I could Convince my kids that I’m a decent cook and get them to eat everything I make is be set! ; )
I have been wanting to make more vegetarian/vegan/healthy recipes for quite sometime, but no one was on board. My husband is on board though now, and assures me that hopefully the kids will follow. I just don’t know where to start though… I almost feel like a new cook even though I have 12+ years of experience! I started following your fabulous blog a few months ago when a friend shared a post of yours on Facebook! Would love to test recipes. Help me… Help you!!! ; )
This is the opportunity I have been waiting for! I am so excited about your second cookbook and would love love love to get to test all of your recipes and provide some feedback! Congrats and best of luck with your cookbook, I hope to be able to be part of it :)
Oh I hope I didn’t miss the cutoff. I’ve been checking your site constantly since you posted you’d need testers. Hope I can be a part of it. ☺
I got your cookbook for Christmas and it has been wonderful! Every recipe I’ve tried has been happy food dance worthy for my husband and me, but our two little ones… not so much. I would love to see recipes geared more for the kid palette – still packed with veggies just less…. chili powder.
By the way, many thanks for the flu-fighter sunshine soothie. I’ve been through 12 pounds of oranges so far, slurping down at least one a day, and I don’t have the flu, it’s just so yummy.
Ooh! Ca’t wait for the new cookbook! I love all your recipes and they’re a staple in our household (especially the desserts). Can’t wait to try out these new ones.
Oh PLEASE PLEASE pick me….that’s right I am not too proud to beg LOL. I have been following your blog for years and just love everything you write about. You have been such an inspiration to me and I recommend your book and website to everyone. I am not vegan, I have no allergies and no food aversions but I absolutely LOVE your recipes….I love your food. I would be so incredibly excited, happy and blessed to be chosen to do this for you and cannot fully express how incredibly grateful I would feel to be a part of this.
Your new cookbook is great news for OSG fans! I would love the chance to be part of it and would carefully and promptly do my best to recreate the recipes and provide helpful feedback. Most of the meals I make at this point are from your website or the book. The recipes are a match to my personal tastes in food and my commitment to healthy eating. Eating vitamin-packed, plant- based, delicious food makes me very happy and I am grateful to have all of your recipes for inspiration.
If I could offer a personal wish for the next book it would be a bigger section devoted to entrees. Those are the ones I return to again and again. Aaand…. I know most people love tomatoes and peppers, but for a few reasons, they are not my fav. I would love soup and dinner recipes that don’t include them or could be modified to exclude them. In any case, I can’t wait to see what you come with.
One last thing. I just made the Caesar salad you reposted and could not believe how delicious it was. Could not stop eating it. So, so good!!!!
My sister brought me your book last year .. its wonderful, My new years resolution was to work my way through every recipe , and to move from being vegetarian to vegan , so the long and the short of it is I know I can commit to following the requirements,I have a vitamix, food processor, dehydrator and spiralizer , and a Mum and Husband both willing to enjoy any of your delicious recipes, and if I am not picked … well I will eagerly await the new book :)
Oh my gosh. Angela, I would love to be a recipe tester for you! I make at least five meals a day. My family will see me in the kitchen making glow bars, granola, mint patties, muffins, lunches, appetizers, salads, snacks, and etc. I often hosts dinner parties or lunch parties at my house for all the non-vegan friends to show them how good vegan food tastes! I am a stay at home mother so I have lots of time to try out tons of recipes!
Love the first book and I have shared it with everyone I know. I’m studying Holistic Nutrition in Toronto, ON and frequently make all of your delicious creations for my roommates. Would love to assist with testing recipes :D Fingers crossed I get the opportunity to do so!
How fantastic! I asked for your, “Oh She Glows” cookbook for Christmas and love everything we have made in it! The sweet potato & black bean enchiladas with avocado cream sauce were a huge hit here! The soul soothing african peanut stew was so amazing – we were stunned! Everything you create turns out perfectly with wonderful flavors! Your pictures are gorgeous too! Thank you for your website also! We had the best holiday menu ever with the festive lentil walnut balls and cranberry sauce. Even the omnivores loved them and asked for the recipe! You have some serious fans here :)
Congratulations on making a second book! I love your first book and everything I’ve made from the book and your site has turned out delicious.
I have only one suggestion…. To better splash proof the pages!! I dripped water on one page and wiped off words when I tried to clean it off. :(
Best of luck! Excited already for book number two.
Hi Angela!
Hi Angela!
I have been following your blog for sometime, and received your cookbook for Christmas and have been making your recipes. I love cooking so much and would love to be part of this amazing team working on your next book. I am so happy that you are writing another one and am looking forward to reading it! Thanks for including your fans into your next book! <3
Angela, I’m so excited about your new cookbook! I’m in law school and living on my own for the first time, so I’m learning to cook for myself. I love your website and have made your recipes for myself and my boyfriend (vegan). Delicious.
Can’t wait to see what you create next.!
This is really cool! I never knew there was such a thing as a recipe tester.
Would you be required to make the dish the day we are sent the posting (if selected)? Or do you have a couple days of grace period? Just curious! Good thing maternity leave allows for lots of baby-momma bonding time in the kitchen!
Angela, I love your cookbook!
I have made a quarter of the recipes they have all been awesome. I keep making some of them over and over. (usually involves chickpeas) I would love to test new ones but I don’t usually add the oil called for so that counts me out. They turn out tasty anyway.
PS Your baby is beautiful!
I was so excited to see that you’re opening recipe testing to your blog readers! You’re blog is my all-time favorite blog and I absolutely LOVE your cookbook. I have made most of the recipes in it. I would be honored to test recipes for your upcoming cookbook. :)
So excited about your new cookbook! I would love the opportunity to be one of your testers!
What an incredible, dream of an opportunity this would be. Your cookbook is my bible and I am not even fully vegan! My kitchen is my haven so I would definitely have the time and energy to make 3 recipes or more per week. My sweetheart and family are meat lovers and I’m constantly trying out vegan recipes that adhere to their tastes, so this would really be perfect for me. Thank you Angela! <3
Yippee, what a fantastic opportunity! Thank you, Angela, for sharing! Of course I quickly sent in my application. I adore cooking, baking, assembling, and non-cooking (I work part time for a raw/vegan chef in the DC area) and am used to testing, tasting, and offering feedback on recipes. I have a very hungry family of four (two young boys ages 5 and 6) and your past recipes have proved enormously popular with the bunch. It would thrill me to no end to be diligently working in my kitchen testing your delicious recipes. I have just about every kitchen gadget known to man and feel up for the challenge be it 1 week of testing or 100! Whether chosen or not (though my fingers are crossed!) I wish you great continued success! Hurray for you and OSG!!!
I would love to have this opportunity! I’m a committed vegan and have never been the best cook, but your recipes make me feel like a professional and introduce me to new ingredients and flavor combinations. They always seem to come out perfect!
Wee! Cookbook 2.0 makes me as happy as a little dog with two tails! I’m not vegan, but am trying hard to ensure my family eats mindfully and healthily. You have helped immensely with that! My timing is very flexible and I would love the opportunity to be a tester!
Oh yes, I also agree with Ellen – nutritional info would be awesome (calories, protein, carbs etc.).
We are really enjoying the OSG cookbook in our household! In fact, my 18 month-old triplet daughters went nuts for your overnight oats recipe!
Hi Angela! I love love love your blog and cookbook! Dumb question about the blog though: Are your posts dated? I’d love to know the date that recipes were posted, but I not immediately seeing any dates on the posts. I feel like I must be somehow overlooking them! Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you!
Hi Angela,
Do you have an idea of when you will be picking your testers? This is such an exciting opportunity…I would love for me and my Littles to help out as we love your recipes! We probably average 3 to 4 of them per week anyway…might as well start giving some feedback :) Either way, good luck with your new cookbook!
Thank you so much for giving us all the opportunity to apply and be part of such a wonderful project. Everyone is clearly thrilled!
Can’t wait for the next book! I wish I could pre-order right now!
Hi, I am having trouble submitting the form, can I send it by e-mail?
Hey there! I would love to do this but I’m just wondering what the timeline would be for testing the recipes as I am travelling now and without reliable kitchen :P
Hi Angela, *waves frantically*
Super keen fan over here – I cook most of my food from your blog and am forever passing on your website to friends and colleagues. I pre-ordered your first cookbook as soon as I could. I’m following the baby section avidly in the hope one day I’ll have a little one too. All the very best with the second cook book!! Naomi
(PS I was using the classic British irony in my application when I said there was only one London – I am aware there is one in Ontario!)
YAY!!!!
and (((sharing)))
This would be a dream come true! I just love your last cookbook and would be super honored to help out with the next xx
OMG- This is SO darn exciting. Your cookbook sits on my counter. I don’t even put it away b/c I use it so often. This year, I made your granola for all my holiday gifts. I think everyone should experience the “deliciousness” of it.
Can’t wait for the 2nd cookbook! Oooooh.
I’d love to be a recipe tester (form has already been submitted)! I already take notes systematically (just for my records) when trying your recipes, so it’d be great to put that habit to good use. I live in France (originally from California), so it adds an interesting element to see how I’m able to make these recipes come alive a world away. Congrats on your progress thus far!
This is an awesome idea! Your recipes are amazing and I love that you’re from Oakville! I’m really interested in this opportunity. I trained to become a chef in Europe but I’m much more interested in learning on ways to become even more healthier.
so wish I could help but we are travelling for the next 3 months: Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Guatemala and Mexico.
I can give you a recipe to add though. In Bariloche, Argentina they make a delicious spread for bread before the meal…
carrots shredded
lemon juice
garlic
a little oil…I am one to leave oil out of a recipe.
salt/pepper again I would leave the salt out
I might add a little ginger or tumeric
You can experiment with this. It is really delicious to spread on bread…
Congrats on your second book! I love your blog. Thank you for bringing us such healthy recipes..healthy for us, healthy for the planet and healthy for animals.
Thank YOU
Suzanne Lyons

One of the areas of cookbooks that I find really fail is breakfast. I have not found, except for 1 recipe, a book that offers a breakfast that can hold me over until lunch.
I usually always have steel cut oats with Chia seeds, frozen fruit and a flavored basalmic vinegar. I prepare 4 portions at a time in my Zojirushi rice cooker. Why, because this is super convenient. I bring my individual servings 1 or 2 a week and leave in the company refrigerator so I’m not stuck with nothing to eat.
If you woud focus on recipes that are quick to make, that taste great reheated and that require few ingredients you’d be great. If you are interested in me trying breakfast recipes only, I would be more than glad to do so. This is where I find that recipe books don’t offer enough options or the options they offer require so much energy to prepare that I just give up and stick to my steel cut oats. I normally cook my recipes on the weekend and eat them throughout the week. I just don’t have time to cook on weeknights. So Saturdays are my big cooking days where I cook several recipes and clean the kitchen once. Thanks and very much looking forward to see this new book.
Hi,
I’ve been vegan for a while now and read your blog a lot. My goal this year was to try lots of new dishes so the recipe tester opportunity would be a really great, structured way for me to do this (thinking purely of myself here!Hah!)
I have favourites that I cook regularly (a lot of which are recipes from your cookbook) so it would be fun to mix it up and try new things. I am also based in London so can let you know if ingredients are hard/easy to find for the people in the UK and my OH’s family are indian so would love it if you had some indian dishes in there aswell!
Good luck with your new book :)
Hi Angela,
I love your blog and your cookbook and all the wonderful recipes. I would love the opportunity to be a recipe tester for your next cookbook.
Hello! I’ve been reading through your website all week and went and bought your cookbook last night. I read it from cover to cover and then made the first recipe. So proud of myself for having all of the ingredients for the overnight oatmeal actually in my house. I’ve been making changes gradually in my pantry so it was a thrill for me to make. Had some this morning before work. All I can say is that it’s happy food. Can’t wait to start on the next one. You’re going to be my Julia Childs. I will learn, or rather relearn, how food was meant to be prepared. Simple, clean happy food.
Angela…
Help!!!! This is a crisis!!!!
I wanted to make your toffee cinnamon oatmeal bars today – we love them…but I cannot seem to pull the recipe up on the site…any ideas?
Thanks so much!
Suzanne
Crisis resolved!
I realized this has happened before with this recipe and I thought maybe it was taken off the blog for some reason….I just pulled out my lap top though and it came up on that one. Very strange – but now so happy I can make them :-)
Thanks for the blessing of these wonderful , scrumptious recipes!
Hi Angela,
I am a nutritionist and a passionate foodie. My love of cooking healthy foods prompted me to begin my second career 15 years ago as a registered dietitian. I’ve been following your blog for a few years. Your cookbook is my go to for the best vegetarian/vegan recipes. It’s also makes the perfect hostess gift! I would be thrilled at the chance to test recipes for your next publication. I have the necessary equipment and I’ve submitted the form. Please pick me!
With Healthy Regards,
Lynne
I have lots of time. I am 62. Been vegan for 3 years. Totally obsessed with cooking and have all the tools. I love trying new recipes. And exotic (hint hint). I like simple but I also like a challenge. Looking forward to your new awesome book :-)
Since you don’t have a box in the form for “why I’d be a great recipe tester,” here’s my little plug. I’ve always wanted to be a recipe tester because I’m a synthetic chemist, so I have mad skillz at following directions and taking extensive notes while working. I think I like cooking so much because it is just like chemistry, but none of my ingredients are explosive/toxic.
Looking forward to your next publication and wondering how you choose your recipe testers from the huge number of submissions. :o)
