US Aurorae Yoga Mat Giveaway!

Happy DECEMBURRRRRR!

And quite chilly this morning too.

Well, November ended with a BANG! And December started with a BANG!

Let me explain…

Yesterday, I was on Craigslist looking for a Christmas gift for Eric. And guess what I came across? A beautiful couch- for a crazy good price. I immediately emailed the seller and asked if we could take a look at it. I figured that it would be gone already because good deals sell so fast on Craigslist, especially in Toronto!

It was a dark brown sectional couch with a chaise (always wanted one!) and it was only a few months old and in mint condition. The owner was selling it because they were moving and it didn’t fit in their new condo (it is a BIG couch!).

Eric stopped by on his way home from work and…

We bought our very first couch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every couch we have had up to this point has been a hand me down which is absolutely awesome, but we have secretly been longing for a couch that fit our new family room. After looking at prices earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t afford one.

He was shocked that it wasn’t gone already. He had to drive all the way to his brother’s to pick up a van, then drive back and put 1 part of the couch in the van, then drop it off, and then drive all the way back to Toronto to pick up the rest!!! He didn’t get home until about 11:30 last night. Poor guy!!!! I was at home waiting anxiously for it to arrive. Luckily, S & B kept me company. ;)

We are absolutely in love with it:

IMG_7650

It’s incredibly soft and comfy…

IMG_7651

and will be great for entertaining!

IMG_7652

IMG_7654

…it is like brand new to us and our wallets are very happy. We figured that THREE lucky friends can crash on this couch at once! hahaha. ;) We are still university students at heart…

We will probably end up buying most of our furniture on Craigslist. You really can’t go wrong, 1) You save huge, and 2) You are recycling!! They have lots of cool antique pieces on Craigslist. Yes, there is a lot of crap to sift through, but it is so worth it. I also check out the FREE page a lot too! You’d be surprised how many people give away amazing things because they are in a rush.

The only thing we are not sure of is where to put our other brown couch. Right now it is here:

IMG_7662

and it looks kind of odd…but we were thinking of keeping it around for our Christmas party.

We also tried here:

IMG_7657

and it looked even more odd…

So we aren’t really sure what to do with it! Ideas????

I also want to find a coffee table off Craigslist as I don’t really like the one that is there now.

And why did Decemburrr start with a bang?

We have roofers here this morning and it sounds like an EARTHQUAKE in this house today! I swear they are going to fall through the roof on me. I woke up at 6am to BANG, BANG, BANG!!! I hit my alarm but it didn’t stop!

I feel a little strange, but I have definite couch envy! Congrats on your great find :) I think the couches look okay back-to-back for the holiday season, and then maybe you can find another room for it or recycle it on Craigslist :) As for the yoga mat, I would LOVE to win and I think I would pick solar. It is so warm and sunny and would brighten up the winter blahs! Have a great day!

Abby December 1, 2009

I would re-sell your old couch on Craigslist and use the money to buy an awesome coffee table to go with your beautiful new couch!!!! If i won the Yoga Mat i would choose Black.. goes with everything!

Rachel Peterson December 1, 2009

I would put that extra couch in a study/office area. I always want to lounge when I am reading.

Oh, and I would choose the Ocean colored yoga mat.

Kristen December 1, 2009

What a great find! It pays to be patient and shop around!

I think you should donate it or sell it on Craigslist. That way maybe you can find something else for your living room or also have some extra money for Christmas presents.

I love the violet yoga mat and I love that they have descriptions of the colors.

cathy December 1, 2009

I actually don’t think the small couch looked that bad sideways behing the sectional. If I got the yoga mat I would get the solar one. :^)

Lexie Bond December 1, 2009

I think you should put the couch on the other side of the coffee table and just have an intimate square of couches. Haha. If I won the yoga mat, I’d choose the seamist color!

Tracy December 1, 2009

Hi Angela–

Congratulations on your new couch! We have found some of our favorite things in our home on Craigslist for amazing prices. Such a good feeling to have something new and to know that you got a good deal!

My suggestion is to give someone else the same pleasure and put your old couch up on Craigslist for someone else to enjoy this holiday season. There is probably someone out there who needs a couch who would be thrilled, like you were, to find it!

Love all the yoga mat colors, but violet is definitely my favorite.

Happy holidays! :)

Jennifer December 1, 2009

I think you should either find a shelter that could use it (or knows someone who needs one) or pass along to a college “kid”.

I would love the yoga mat in solar! It is bright and sunny and invigorating!!!

Thanx for all of your recipes and inspiring stories and quotes. I have passed along your blog to a co-worker! We both love it! I have also made (and tweaked to our tastes) your power muffins and they are the BOMB!!

Steph December 1, 2009

Happy December Angela!

I think maybe you should selling your other couch on craigslist. The new couch is fabulous and so big that you probably dont even really need the other couch.

I love all the colors in the yoga mat. Cant decide which I like better, violet or solar. I love them both!

PS I made my first green monster the other day and it was absolutely delicious. My husband thinks Im a little crazy but I love them and am planning to have one as often as possible. Thank you for inspiring me!

Ellie December 1, 2009

Hi Angela!
I would donate the couch to salvation army if they have that in Canada?
I would choose the yoga mat in solar because it looks like the sun!

Ginny December 2, 2009

I would re sell the brown couch on craigslist and I would love to have the seamist green yoga mat…so cute!!!

Nina December 1, 2009

Hi Angie!

Honestly, I would sell the couch on Craigslist because it’s like giving back to the Karma gods for your amazing (and lucky!) purchase. Since your old brown couch looks pretty nice to me from the pictures, I know someone else could greatly benefit from it! If you aren’t up to that, does it fit inside of your office? That might be a nice location for a couch (could double as a guest room?)!

As for the color of the yoga mat, I would choose the seamist because it is just so calming to me.

Thanks for the cool giveaway! :-)

maggie December 1, 2009

to be honest, i would probably put the couch somewhere that my doggie could snuggle up on it. she loves fabric couches (oppose to the leather one we currently have). i know, that is kind of pathetic, but i just love my lil black BooBoo.
I would want the Violet yoga mat!!!

Bonnie December 1, 2009

Solar for me please! :) Does the old couch have to stay in the same room? Maybe there is a place for it in another room until the party, and then I say put that bad boy on craiglist! Someone might want it (plus you get a little cash for it!)

Angela Dawn December 1, 2009

Firstly, I love your blog. My best friend Krista introduced me to it last week, and I’ve been hooked ever since!
Secondly, we have the same name, which pretty much makes us really awesome.
Third, I think you should try moving your couch (the oddly placed one) where your Christmas tree is, and sort of swap the tree and the couch. It could look really pretty by the sliding doors (your tree.)
Lastly, I love orange so much that I painted my bedroom pumpkin orange. So I just wanted to add in the last part about the yoga mat, and that I would clearly choose orange if I won : ) Plus, it’s the color of the Glow Website, how can you go wrong with orange?

Thanks for all the inspiration and I hope you figure out your couch situation :)

Katie (Sweet Tater) December 1, 2009

i’d go with a black mat…

and i do believe i’d sell the extra couch and use to money to buy two cute wing back chairs and set up a little reading nook over there.

Angela Dawn December 1, 2009

PS- By “orange” I mean Solar : )

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is December 1, 2009

I love the couch!

I would choose the purple mat, and in all honesty, if you have no need for the couch, can you donate it or leave it out for someone to take? That’s what we do.

Laura December 1, 2009

I would donate the couch and have them come pick it up. Although I have a spare couch right now too, nobody will come get it.

I would love the Violet yoga mat if I won!

Julie @savvyeats December 1, 2009

Sell the old couch on Craigslist :)

Susan December 1, 2009

maybe you can put the couch in front of the table when you have guests over that way everyone is facing each other? just a suggestion. I’d love the violet one! :)

Becky December 1, 2009

I would sell the couch on craigslist or even give it away if you so choose. For the mat, violet for sure and I would be happy to write a review:)

Jane December 1, 2009

I love the look of the Violet mat and could really use a new one! I agree that selling your old couch on c-list and using the $ to make a reading nook with some chairs, or to offset the cost of the new couch sounds like a great plan. Thanks for the great contest!

Julie @savvyeats December 1, 2009

Sorry, I should have left these in the same comment!

Like I said, I would sell the old couch on Craigslist.

And I love the “solar” colored mat — so pretty and inspiring!

jewels December 1, 2009

I’d love the violet one!!! The back to back look is great for parties! Kind of like a lounge

Kim December 1, 2009

I would donate the couch. It’s in good shape and a family could benefit from purchasing it at a low cost for their family. Keep the good karma flowing :) or it could be a door prize at your christmas party haha

I adore the ocean color yoga mat

Dori December 1, 2009

I have been wanting to buy a yoga mat! I’d get the lilac, on a purple kick lately. Is there room in your bedroom for the couch? I love when bedrooms have a spot for sitting.

Callie December 1, 2009

Solar for me please! :) Your new couch looks great! We found our sectional on Craigslist too!! I agree with the other commenters – put the old one on Craigslist! But in the meantime, I think where you have it works for the Christmas party. Who doesn’t love some extra seating?

Kristy Galea December 1, 2009

You should put your old couch on Craigslist and pay it forward. Have someone else feel excited just like you for a new couch during the holidays.

I love the orange mat if I were to win.

Make it a wonderful day!
-Kristy

Jill December 1, 2009

Put it on the front porch — heh, sorry, college party flashback moment. I concur with all of the craiglist suggestions!

Love the solar–such great energy for warrior poses!

Gina December 1, 2009

I would probably sell or donate the couch if I couldn’t find a good place for it.
I love the seamist color.

brandi December 1, 2009

Do you have another room you could put it in? OR possibly move the tree and have the other couch across from the new one?

I love sectionals – we have one very similar, but not as big.

I would pick the Ocean color – blues relax me.

Lu December 1, 2009

I think that you should donate your couch. At least in the US The Salvation Army will come and pick it up for you. It would make someone really happy. If I were to win the yoga mat, I would pick the Violet one. I love that color. I love Bikram Yoga, and have been jonesing for a new mat. Congratulations on your new couch. It looks great.

Estela @ Weekly Bite December 1, 2009

I would sell the couch on Craigs List.

I would like the violet color :)

Janie B. December 1, 2009

I like the infinity.

Do you have a basement? You could put it down here, or have a bonfire with friends and burn it if you don’t want it anymore :)

Tiffany December 1, 2009

Keep the couch in the room for the party, then sell/donate it, unless you have a basement… that’s where all of the stuff I don’t know what to do with goes! Although then you’d just end up with a room full of “stuff” haha. Yeah I’d say sell/donate :)

Oh yeah, and the seamist is an absolutely beautiful color. I currently have a red mat with koi on it, and I would love a more calming color.

Catherine December 1, 2009

I would definitely put your old couch on Craigslist!! Get a little extra moolah :)
I like the infinity color. I would never really think to get a black yoga mat (I love bright colors), but I loved the description of it! It was the “potential of endless possibilities” that got me.

Ellie December 1, 2009

Love the now couch! I agree with Angela D. that you should switch the couch and the Christmas tree. That way you’d have more of a sitting area for the party, and the tree would look great in front of the glass doors.
As for the yoga mat, I would choose violet – its so pretty and I’m just drawn to it for some reason! Thanks for the awesome give-away.

Dara G December 1, 2009

I like Seamist! :)

and i would either put the couch on the opposite side of the coffee table (so the people on each couch could face each other) OR put it back on Craigslist. :)

congrats on the couch! i LOVE craigslist!

JT December 1, 2009

Congrats on your new sectional – it looks great. Just in time for holiday entertaining :) Do you have room to put your extra couch in the office…for those quick naps that you need to re-charge?
I would love an orange mat. I signed up for yoga and pilates and I am currently using my old, old mat and would love to try a new one:) PICK ME!!!!

VegFigureSk8er December 1, 2009

Happy 1st of dec!
I would donate the couch or try to sell it on cragslist.

FrecklesFreeze December 1, 2009

Congrats on your great find :)
Do you have an extra room? My husband likes to play video game and we are trying to make this extra room his entertainment room where he can play games without any interruptions. If the couch turns into a bed, the entertainment room could also become a guest room.
As for the color of yoga mat, I want Solar! Love the color~!

Shelly December 1, 2009

I think you should move the couch to another room in the house. I would pick the Ocean mat if I won because I love Blue!

Jennie December 1, 2009

Now that you have a beautiful new couch, I think you should donate your old one. I’ve not had the best luck with Craigslist, but like donating to Good Will and getting the tax write off. I would love a new yoga mat, Violet is my favorite.

Allison December 1, 2009

I would sell your couch on Craigslist. Maybe someone can benefit from a good deal like you guys did! And I would want the violet yoga mat!

Melanie December 1, 2009

How big is your bedroom or the guest room? I know lots of people that make a little “sitting area” in a bedroom…maybe you could put it in there? Otherwise, sell it!

Michelle December 1, 2009

If I really couldn’t find a place for the couch, I would donate it! As for the mat, the blue color looks beautiful! A new yoga mat is on my X-mas wishlist–hope you pick me! :)

Morgan December 1, 2009

Do you have a guest room you can put it in?
Or could you sell it or donate it? I’m sure someone else out there would love to have it!

Felicia December 1, 2009

Sell the couch on craigslist, and then use the money to buy the new coffee table you want!

I’d pick the solar mat. :)

Whitney December 1, 2009

Love the couch! I would put your old one in an entirely different room. I love couches in bedrooms — a blanket and lamp make for a perfect reading space.

As for the yoga mat, I would have to choose black. My lighter mats always get dirty even when I clean them off after each practice. Black might solve all of my problems :)
