Good morning!
It is a beautiful start to the weekend here…I hope it is where you are too!
I figured I needed some spinach greens in my life again this morning…
I drank the green monster outdoors to wake up my body…
In this dazzling GM = 1 cup hemp milk, 2 small bunches of spinach, 1 tbsp maple butter, 1/2 frozen banana, 7 strawberries, 1 tbsp chia seeds. (awesome combo!!!!!)
Much better. What would I do without Green Monsters in my life!?
Liquid sanity.
and some flowers for you to enjoy…
Cheer me up buttercup…
Yoga As Therapy?
In last night’s How To Beat PMS post, I forgot to mention that I have been using yoga stretches to help my back pain. In particular, I love the Cobra and Camel poses for my lower back. They feel so soothing!
One of my favourite yoga websites, Yoga Journal, has a fantastic therapeutic guide for all kinds of ailments such as:
- Anxiety
- Back Pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Insomnia
- Menopause
- Menstruation
- Mild Depression
- Stress
It is pretty exciting to think that certain kinds of yoga poses could help with all of that!
What’s your take on yoga used as a therapeutic tool? Have you ever tried it or targeted specific ailments with certain poses? What are your favourite poses?
We’re off to the Farmer’s Market….see you later with the recap! Have a fabulous day.
I’ve been wanting to add yoga to my workout routine. It’s so relaxing.
Have a great day!
Hi!
Just wondering how you get your smoothies so green. I’ve been trying to make green monsters, but they usually turn out an unappetizing, dirty brown. That’s with a cup skim milk, 2 handfuls pre-washed ready-to-go spinach, a dozen or so frozen cherries and a few ice cubes. Any ideas to make it more appealing?
Thanks, Amy
The cherries make it muddy green!
I love your PMS post!! Yes, I think yoga is absolutely therapeutic!! It is a body, mind, and soul work out. :)
Love that GM glass :)
Down here in TX, it has been raining on and off for the past 2-3 days….ahhhhh, I love the rain down here because it helps our dry ground and we don’t have to water our yard as much, but okay now, this is enough, want my sunshine and warm weather back! Can you guys share a bit of that with us here in Dallas? Okay, cool, thanks!
YOGA….ahhhh Namaste. I love yoga and I love the way it makes me feel. I so need it back in my life on a consistent basis, just can’t find the time to fit it in training for a marathon, well 2. I enjoy Bikram or hot yoga. Two of my favorite poses have to be Savasna (spelling ???) and the child’s pose. I feel so rested and mind free of all stress after a good 90 min. hot yoga session. I may have to find a place to fit that in.
hello! i treid the cobra pose and it really helped my back pain…i do that everytime i can’t go to sleep because of back exhaustion :)
I’ll be honest, running is better mental therapy for me than yoga but as far as stretching goes it is nice. However, I find myself idling when doing pilates and yoga. Like my mind needs stimulus. I should do yoga more often for sure though.
I hope the market was awesome!
Angela, you may have mentioned this, but did you get a new camera or lens? Lately your photos have been on a new level! Do you have any photo tips on your site? I could not find anything.
I am shooting in RAW format now and using Adobe Lightroom…its amazing!
Yum, I need to start drinking GMs again. I always feel so much better!
My favourite poses are airplane, cat/cow and child’s pose. These vary A LOT depending on my mood or week :)
I have been reading your blog for a while, and I just noticed that I haven’t seen pics of Sketchie for a while–did I miss a post? Is he still around? :)
haha yup he is!
My upper back kills at work – sitting at a desk – blech. I’m always trying to work it out by walking at breaks. The best thing for it is yoga though.
I like to get to class early and take a yoga block and stick it between my shoulder blades on the medium setting. I lay back on it and put my feet together in baddha konasana. It feels so good to open my heart up and just stay there for a few breaths. I usually let my head fall back but it also feels good to suport your head with a blanket, pillow, or another block.
