Venice Photography

« Jump to Recipe »

When I started the blog, I intended on posting photography from each stop along our Mediterranean honeymoon, however that fell to the wayside and I only got through a couple of cities. My goal is to get through all of them over the next few months and highlight the best memories from each place. We literally have thousands of honeymoon pictures sitting on our computers right now. Eric had recently purchased the DSLR camera in 2007 and the honeymoon (early-mid September 2008) marked the first time that we really got into photography. We spent the trip snapping pictures of everything that caught our eyes.

After two long flights (and some questionable spelling), we made it to our hotel about 16 hours later to gorgeous Venice. We were up for over 30 hours straight without sleeping and were so excited we decided not to go to sleep at all that day. It was a total adrenaline rush to finally be on our honeymoon together. Once the sun rose on the plane, it was as if our body clocks adjusted and we didn’t feel as tired as we should have.

Ok, maybe I was a bit tired.

We loved every second of Venice during the two days we were there. We weren’t sure what to expect because we had heard some negative things about it, but it completely blew us away. Luckily we didn’t have any problems with flooding or stinky water while we were there. The weather was a gorgeous 27C-28C and not a cloud in the sky. I really didn’t expect something this beautiful and as a romantic person, I absolutely adored this city. We walked it all both days from dawn to late nights and saw all the sights. It was a very romantic way to start off the honeymoon!

Our hotel was fun and authentic- only 12 rooms, quaint, and very ‘Venice’ feel to it. And the bed was a slab of concrete, but I was too excited to care!

Italy is one of my favorite places in the world. I’m going back in just 2 months!!!

Side note about Venice – I my wallet was stolen on a water bus by a gypsy. Only me… too worried about looking cool to wear the special wallet necklace thing. *sigh*

What beautiful pictures! My husband and I will have to plan a big second honeymoon sometime. Something bigger than just driving the couple of hours to the beach we go to every year like we did the first time.

I have not forgotten about the blendtec give away. I’ve already made the banan+date smoothie and have cherries a-freezing for the next smoothie. Love!

Nice pictures Angela, Venice is indeed beautiful! I think what you have on the screen there is the Italian spelling for Philadelphia…that’s how we say it ;) !

I love your photos, Ange!

I only wish that I had gotten bitten by the photography bug earlier in life..I think back to everything from my wedding (that’s captured on a 24 exposure Kodak digital camera, Las Vegas special baby!) to my pregnancy, birth, Skylar’s early babyhood and childhood.

It wasn’t until I started blogging 2.5 yrs ago that I even *cared* about taking pics of things…and it wasnt until much MORE recently that I cared about taking *decent* pics of things :)

If only I could go back to all the trips, events, etc…

I love looking at your images…so beautiful! So happy you HAVE these, too!

Beautiful Pictures & Memories Ange!

I was just wondering how you and Eric went about planning your honeymoon? Did you just sit down and say “we want to go here here and here” or was there an actual tour that you booked?

It would have been so hard to choose! I love everything about Europe.

The tours were much too expensive for our budget so we did everything on our own! To be honest it was a bit stressful b/c we planned everything at the last minute (we had a crazy year and I was defending my thesis in grad school a few weeks prior to the wedding) so I would not advise to leave it to the last minute! We literally planned our travels the night before…not ideal but what can you do! A lot of the tours seemed a bit boring anyways. haha

Beautiful Pics!

I thought I would share this with you today rather than on the blendtec post since you might not get to reading them all. I have a blendtec and if I am making smoothies with kale I always put it on the Whole Juice setting. That seems to do the trick nicely rather than smoothie setting.

Have a lovely day!!
