When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

I’ve loved mama pea since the beginning. With her entertaining storytelling and recipes that could compete with grandma (if mine was vegan of course), I feel like a part of the family!
I would love a cook book pretty peas! :)
I would love to check out that cookbook. Hubby is as picky an eater as kids would be.
I’m finally coming out of blog-stalker mode so I can comment and hopefully have a chance at winning that delicious looking cookbook! Thanks for the opportunity!
I’m so excited about this book! I love Sarah, although my husband only knows her as Mama Pea because I’ll constantly be saying “We have to try this recipe that Mama Pea made!” At least then he knows I’m talking about a blogger and isn’t trying to figure out who in the world “Sarah” is, lol!
Looks like a great book, Would love to win this!!!!
My husband and I are transitioning to a 100% vegan diet and we would LOVE LOVE LOVE this cookbook! Sometimes it’s hard to find inspiration when your former favorites are now on the NO list. The creative inspiration alone would be completely appreciated!
What a sweet idea!
And Angela, you have made me a convert to the vegan lifestyle! I had been curious about it for a long time, but never did anything about it until I was introduced to your blog. I decided to go strictly vegan for one week, using only your recipes, and blogged about my experience. The week is over now, but I still happily eat vegan food! I don’t follow it strictly all the time, but day-to-day eating finds me using your recipes over and over again, I never knew vegan food could be SO good! I made my family a couple of your dishes, and had rave reviews! A friend of my moms heard her talk so much about your enchiladas that she asked for the recipe and made it for her family! Keep doing what you do, you are an inspiration!!
And PLEASE write a cookbook!! :D
I know this comment is also entering me in your contest (an ancillary bonus!!) but really I am writing to say how much I love the supportive nature, the camaraderie of the circle of bloggers you always reference! What a blessing and joy that must be to share!!
Oh, my goodness, i would love to win a copy of this book! Thanks so much to you and Mama Pea for the giveaway. The salad looks divine!
The cookbook looks great! My partner and I would love to get our hands on some of those recipes (and get that food in our bellies!)! I also think this would be great to share with my mom–I’ve been trying to get her on the healthy food band wagon for so long, and I think hearing a mom’s perspective might help her! She’s a great lady and I worry about her health…Maybe this could help!
Ooh… I’m always looking for good meatless recipes. Plus, that Pea Pack is adorable!
